2017 error

The issue was that the shared folder was changed in the config...it is set during install...to the default path c:\users\public\documents\shared mcam2017\

The shared folder path is stored in the registry in HKLM and HKCU

in the config it is set to a variable <shared data> IIRC

When the path gets hosed up, it gets set to c:\program files\mcam2017 and it will generate that error.

Thanks Allan...that explains it...

 

Don't know how the path could have got changed.

 

I never actually installed the official 2017 web install until l I downloaded it yesterday.

 

My 2017 was the final public beta and I was told it was the same version as the retail release would be so I left it alone.

 

When I decided my install was hosed I installed off a copy of the USB files off our FTP.

 

I was getting frequent crashes that appeared to just drop the thread.  Work space file getting nuked..

kept getting worse and more frequent.  and I should have wiped all the keys

before the fresh install.

 

Anyways appreciate the feedback so next time I will know...

I probably had the same problem. My windows "public documents" got out of whack first thing this year..

 

Instead of being:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\shared Mcam2017

It was:

C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\shared Mcam2017

 

That hosed MCX9, MC2017 and MC2018 for me.

 

I have no idea how it happened. Right clicking "public documents"  and editing location fixed it for me...took a lot of help from my re-seller to figure this one out.

Looks like a Windows Update thing.  You running Windows 10?

 

 

Not me....Win 7 Pro here....

 

I had a bunch of lockups where I had to do a couple power button hard boots... and several log offs to drop the thread...

 

Then I also had a dozen or so just plain crash to desktops...

 

Since reinstall everything is running perfect...

 

All day without a single issue...

 

But I did not install the last Mastercam update....

 

I wasn't having the tool manager crash and wasn't having any trouble at all before that patch either....however Windows does mess things up with their auto update sometimes...

 

Had auto update turned off...now it is turned back on for some reason....
