Trunnion A,C Force C ouput

Recommended Posts

I've run across a situation where I need to machine a part on our 5 axis MX-520 at multiple C angles because of stroke limitations. This is an A,C combination trunnion machine. I have WCS set to top and T/C planes set to Top for one operation and C180 for another. When I post using Generic Fanuc 5AX or MPMaster I get no C rotation. Anyone know why? What can be done to fix this? It appears that the output isn't in the NCI either as we have tried posting with Camplete and no dice.

Hi Troy,

The way the logic works in the Generic Fanuc 5X Mill Post (and it's derivatives), it only looks at the orientation of the "Z" Axis, of your Tool Plane, to determine orientation. It doesn't look at the "X or Y Vectors" to determine orientation.

In order to get that to work, you've got to make a modification in the "Binned" section of the Post (PSB) File.

Send me an email, I may be able to help...

Thanks,

Colin

I looked at the rotary settings in camplete again today and it will do what you wish. You can lock an axis in plus or minus direction and c will rotate.

It will only accept line segments. No arcs. Camplete has a utility to remove the arcs if you don't don't in mastercam
