  1. I unchecked "check flowline motion for gouge" and the jumping went away. Oh and I changed the tolerance to .0001 instead of .001 too
  2. That did the trick. I wish I had asked the question BEFORE I cut a part
  3. Is there a place in there where I can set the check surface to stay away a certain number? I have them selected (in the collision control page), but cant find a place to put a stay away number. Thank you in advance. Rick
  4. I knew it was in there somewhere!! Thank You!!
  5. I am trying to engrave the number 45 on a small cone. The 45 will wrap around the cone. I need the tool to retract between cuts. right now it is following the surface. I know I am missing a simple check box, but cant seem to find it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Rick
  6. I had some come back from regrinding that were like that. Needless to say, we don't use that guy anymore
  7. I am doing some undercuts on a round part and am using multiaxis rotary. I notice it has a "compensation type as in 2d work". I don't believe my post supports 3d compensation. Do I just shut off the comp or should I leave it as left? Does it really matter in my case? Thanks, Rick
  8. I downloaded the cad file of some toolholders, from the schunk website. Is there a way to import the model to the holder library, or do I have to take the dimensions off the cad file and punch them into the correct field in the c hook? Thanks for any help with this. I am very new to creating holders. Rick
  9. We have that machine in the video. Very cool machine indeed.
  10. That was a great way of explaining it. Thank you!! Now I have a question that should have been asked years ago... Should the tool plane always match the WCS? If not, please explain why not. Thanks, Rick
  11. Great thanks for the help Pete.
  12. Pete, So what your saying is, it only analyzes an error. If I were to actually cut it it were cut the correct size. Is that right? Thanks for the reply Rick
  13. Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been by the computer for a few days. I also appologize for the low post number. I do spend my share of time here, but am unable to come up with any answers to questions people have. Thad, its not a demo version. Its X2 sp1. I'll try to peck around with the "number of decimal places in analyze in Settings-Config". Laszlok, The cone does appear to sit exactly on the arc, it was created with. Crazy, I'm going to try what you suggested, and see what happens. I ended up using a fellow employee's program to do the job, but still want to find out why this happens
  14. I forgot to mention, I drafted the solid(to create a cone shape).
  15. I forgot to mention, I drafted the solid( to create a cone shape).
  16. I created a simple solid extrude out of a circle. when I dynamically analyzed the solid, at the level of the arc it was created with, it says the diameter is .04 larger than that arc. I have been using solids for a few years now, and just noticed this. We still have 9 installed, and it does the same thing. I created an edge curve at that level, and analyzed that curve, and it is the same size as the arc, that I used to create the solid. Is there a setting I may have wrong, or is it an error in the way Mastercam analyzes dynamically?
  17. Ok that fixed it.... Thanks for the help
  18. I just brought in a file from v9 to x. It had operations with it, which I needed, so I created a new machine group then copy and pasted them into it the new group. I had to regenerate the operations. Now when I try to post out these operations, I am promted to select a new file name for every tool. I think this happened before, but cant remember what I did to fix it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  19. Alot of horror stories out there!!! Compared to what you guys have to deal with, the "crappy" jobs I have had, in the past, were a walk in the park!!!! Where I am now there is no problem with getting what I need for tooling, as long as its within reason. I learned quick not to write in a price on the requisition form, or else I get half of what I actually need for the job.
  20. I Unselected this box, and put in .0001, which helped out with surface finish alot. Finish is important on this part considering this hole is product on an injection mold. I tried setting the tolerance to .00005, but Mastercam shut down with it thats tight, so I went with .0001. Thanks for the help.
  21. I'm using helix bore to do a series of holes, and noticed on the rough/finish parameter page, at the bottom it says output arc moves for helixes. when unchecked, it gives the option for a tolerance. What is the tolerance with the box checked? my machine does not suport arc moves in a helix. should that box not be checked?
  22. Pete, I'll send you an IGES file in a few minutes. CAMmando, I have no Idea what you are talking about. I dont use Cadkey that often. I use it primarily to convert 2d files(once a month if i'm lucky) and to get other employees numbers sometimes. I never really had the oportunity(sp) to play around with Cadkey that much.
  23. I have to import files from Cadkey into Mastercam. I have been using the IGES export converter in Cadkey. When importing I come up with quite a few lines out of place, along with the title block being out of place. It hasn't caused a problem yet, but want to know if there is a better converter to use, instead of IGES. By the way, I only export 2d files out of Cadkey. Thanks, Rick
  24. Do alot of you people use setup sheets? Are they easy to use, or too much of a hastle. I've never used them, but want to know if it would be worth it. I'm not new to MC, but I know I dont use it to its full potential, and would like to start using more of the features.
  25. Thanks guys, I called our reseller on Friday, and we should be getting the update disk today. I talked to the IT guy again, now he says he isn't sure WHAT he did.
