  1. In the verify window, click on "configure", (the folder with the red exclamation point) then select "solid" under shape and click th arrow to select the solid to use as stock.
  2. I have found that sometimes simplifying the sketch helps. Try removing fillets one at a time. Also, the colors should be: Holder- 116 Insert up- 14 Insert down- 55
  3. Thanks Ron, This machine is RS-232, We are using Focal-Point DNC software. The code in the DNC library was missing the Z move. The block was lost somewhere before copying to the DNC directory. It was probably human error, I am just trying to "cover all the bases" in looking for the root cause. We typically use inplot to double-check the code before it goes to the machine. The programmer who sent this to the floor isn't sure if he ran it through or not.
  4. We had a hiccup here last w/e. On a facegroove finish cycle, a Z move got dropped and since we are using 'R' instead of 'I,K' to generate rads, the machine undercut to get to the correct pos. I think if we were using I,K's the machine would not have done this. The machine is a VTL with a fanuc o-t control We have tried to duplicate the error, but have had no luck. Does anyone think Mastercam could have dropped the Z move? (Personally, I don't.) 5. A Very Happy Birthday, and Many, Many more!!!
  6. +1000000 Don, I also wish CNC would spend some time with lathe Specifically I would like insert changes in rough cycles (turning and grooving). Maybe there could be a max material removal parameter and if the next cut went over, M/C would automatically put a move to either home or some clear pos. to change the insert. It seems M/C is made for shops that turn aluminum some of us work with Inconel, Hastelloy, Haynes 188, materials with 10% or less machinability.
  7. Thanks for your replies! Complete uninstall/reinstall worked. Must have been increased solar flare activity creating electromagnetic fields which had an adverse reaction at the molecular level with the epitaxial emulsion on the hard drive, causing the data to become corrupted.
  8. Thanks gcode, I checked the chaining tolerance, it is the same on all machines. I have contacted Mastercam help line, they told me to un-install, delete the mcamx dir and remove x2 enries from the registry. I'll let you know what happens....
  9. Rich, Did you try using the extend function instead of lead in/out? This will extend lines without adding extra lines to code. Happy coding,
  10. Thanks Terry, We tried changing the tool setup, no difference. I then tried swapping the till libs from a machine that works, the .tools, .lic and .lhc files this also made no difference. When we select 'draw tool' the error still comes up "invalid tool geometry" The thumbnails look ok though..
  11. We have tried different tools from the same lib and from different libs to no avail. Not sure what to try now
  12. Hi guys, We have 4 computers running Mastercam and last Friday one of them started coming up with the error "invalid geometry" on lathe tools when using draw tool. Also, the toolpaths will not regenerate. The same files work just fine on the other 3 computers. We have not changed anything on any of the machines. We have un-installed and re-installed mastercam on the problem machine and the problem still persists. Milling files seem to work ok. Is there any way to tell if the lathe tool libraries have been corrupted? I have compared the size of the .tools files and they seem to be the same kb's. Has anyone seen this sort of problem?
  13. I posted a question like this when X2 first came out... Recieved no replies. I noticed that the dimensions are mirrored. Been living with it ever since.
  14. Pete, I moved the directory to Commonpslddata and now it seems to work fine. I am not sure how is got moved in the first place Thanks!
  15. It is under Commonrhinodatapslddata
  16. Whenever I open any file with solids, I am getting this error on each solid Mastercam loads: Error in GETMOD Parasolid kernel interface error: KI Error Code: 970 - open/close/read/write error for schema file - check PSLDDATA directory Has anyone seen this?
  17. I use a USB SD card reader and I have the same problem. What I do is re-load the card and re-insert the USB reader. Some times it takes a few tries before it will show up as a USB drive.
  18. Nathan: I will keep a copy. James, I have re-formatted this comp. It is "clean" so it should not have any V8 info in it. I will remember to install them in order next time I need to do this. Thanks everyone for the info!
  19. Thanks Storkman, I have installed 9.1 SP2 - no problem. However, when I try to install V8, the program maintenance utility comes up with "uninstall completely" checked. What will this "uninstall completely"?
  20. I have X2 loaded and now I want to install V8 and V9 for the reverse post and the cimco editor. Can this be done?
  21. I am getting the same message. It shows up in the file descriptor window (underneath the preview in file open window). Not sure why it appears, the files are lathe, mill, edm doesn't seem to matter I have been ignoring it.....
  22. Has anyone noticed in the define tool window under the holders tab that all the right-hand sketches are mirrored?
  23. I have been having the same problem. It seems to happen mostly when I change parameters in the define tool page like tool number or offset number. If I re-generate the toolpath, everything is ok. I sent a Z2G file to my reseller, and he forwarded it to CNC Software, I am still waiting for a resolution.... maybe X2 will fix it?
  24. How about this instead of a drill? http://www2.northerntool.com/product/200322363_200322363.htm
