  1. This is what I'm getting, G0X-4.25Y-.199942A0. Z2. Z.1 G1Z0.F200. I don't want the A0 on the first line. Do I need to edit the post and if so is this the section I need to be looking at? pq$ #Setup post based on switch settings if stagetool = one, bldnxtool$ = one #Rotaxtyp = 1 sets initial matrix to top #Rotaxtyp = -2 sets initial matrix to front if vmc, rotaxtyp$ = one else, rotaxtyp$ = -2 #Shut off rotary axis if, Q164. Enable Rotary Axis button? n if ucase(sq164) = strn, rot_on_x = zero if arctype$ = one | arctype$ = four, [ I think it's has something to do with enabling the rotary axis button.
  2. How do you update when you don't have an X4 folder. I have X3 and X3 backup. Do I just select the control def and machine def from the backup folder and update to the X3 folder? I tried copying the config folder from the backup folder to the X3 folder using windows and my toolbar states came in properly but I got an error, so I switched it back to the way it was. I forget what it said. Edit; I figured it out, thanks anyway. [ 03-18-2010, 10:00 AM: Message edited by: Tim Pruett ]
  3. My maintinance expired a while back and I wasn't sure if I could. I checked this morning and it expired after the release of X4 so I updated to X4 this morning.
  4. Thanks again for the help Pete. Updating to X3 MU1 was the trick.
  5. Pete, I sent you the iges file. I bet it's something I'm doing wrong. I probably don't have something set correctly. Thanks for the help though.
  6. Laszlok, I tried what you suggested, but nothing showed up. I was hoping that was it. Thanks for the help though.
  7. I checked to see if their blanked and their not there. I opened the iges file in x2 and the numbers are on level 4 along with some other notes. The total number of entities is 49 on that level. When I open the file in x3 the numbers are not there but all the other notes are. The level shows 48 entities. I tried unblanking entities but there is none.
  8. They used to do something like that at a place I was at. They used a right hand end mill with a left hand spiral to keep the material from pulling up. This was thinner material, I think, that was glued to wood panels.
  9. I recently upgraded from x2 to x3 and now the "notes" don't come in when I translate a file. The files are iges files created using autocad 13. I did a search for this and found out about the mask section under options during file translation, and everything is checked. Please help.
  10. Toonz, I know how to fix the problem, but I think I souldn't have to fix 30 out of 46 surfaces to get a program to run correctly. The problem with mastercam is that in all of the other programs that offer a scallop height setting, if you change it, it changes the stepover amount and keeps it constant. Why can't surface finish contour as an example have a setting for scallop height and keep it seperated from the stepdown amount like flowline does. Toolpathing would be so much quicker.
  11. Hardmill, I have 14 toolpaths on one electrode. I was trying to simplify some of the programing I have to do. I just thought maybe I could finish the entire electrode with one toolpath the way cimitron can. Toonz, every time I try to flowline an electrode with more than a few surfaces I get the inevitable "surface conflict error". Any ideas how to fix this. I love flowline, whenever I can get it to work. Rickster, I tried the waterline toolpath and it still looked like it kept a constant depth of cut.
  12. OK, I found where to set the scallop height but whenever I change it, it changes the stepover amount. I'm looking for a toolpath that will VARY THE DEPTH OF CUT and keep a set scallop height value. So it will make shallow cuts on the top of a radius about half way around and then start making deeper cuts as it gets closer to the bottom of the radius. I'm cutting a boss with drafted side walls with a .05 radius at the top edge, it's flat on top. Cimatron has a toolpath that will do this. I know that's gonna get me yelled at but man this just sucks having to parallel cut everything. Somebody please help.
  13. On what page in the scallop toolpath does it give you an option to set the scallop height?
  14. Is there a toolpath that will keep a constant scallop height and very the depth of cut other than flowline? I usually parallel cut just about everything but it takes forever. Thanks in advance.
  15. I can't seem to split a surface at "z" zero. I select the surface I want to split, right click in the "z" field, select a line at "z" zero and it won't work. Please help. I'm still using X2 MR2 SP1. Thanks
  16. will a "NVIDIA Quadro NVS with AGP8X" video card work with X3? I did a search and couldn't find this particular card mentioned.
  17. Dowty123, Where exactly is that toolpath? I can't find it. Is it under surface finish project?
  18. I put a folder on the ftp under the mx2-mr2 or ealier folder named spiral. Could someone please tell what would be the best way to machine the green surface. I used surface finish countour but it left some steps, I then flowlined it and it left an awful finish even with the cut tolerance set to .0001 . I then used a radial toolpath and that was the best so far but still not very good. Please help. tia.
  19. Jmick, Thanks for the input. The linearization helix tolerance is what I have set to .0005. I have it set on the ramp page and on the toolpath parameters page also. I was just trying to get a response on the correct way to get the very best finish possible. Usually we polish our trodes, but a thread trode would be a littlebit of a pain to polish. Thanks again.
  20. In your opinion what is the way to get the best finish possible on a 2d contour. I'm making a threaded electrode and I would like it to have a good finish. I have used the ramp option with the tolerance turned on and set to .00005, but if I change the geometry to a spline and use the tolerance in the program set to .00005 it does better, but it's still faceted. I should mention that we program everything point to point at the shop i'm at. Would using the filter tolerance be better? I did a search on this and couldn't find anything specific to answer my question.
  21. I think that I finally got it to work. I ended up just copying my config, cnc machines, and mill folders over and so far everything seems to be working. Thanks for the help guys.
  22. Ok, now I have X2-MR2-SP1 installed, what files from my backup do I copy and paste over to get everything back to the way I had it? By the way thanks for the help guys. I really appreciate it.
  23. Ok, let me see if I can explain this a little better. The original install on the new computer is just X2. I tried updating via the website to X2-MR2SP1 (which is what my backup is) but it wouldn't work cause it said I had to update to X2-MR2 first. The problem is that X2-MR2 is no longer available on the website. At least I couldn't find it. So how do I get X2-MR2SP1 on this computer and be able to use my config file from my backup?
