  1. So, if Im understanding you, the best way is to use cutter comp at the control? The only other thing I could think of that might have caused my problem is I had to cut the threads until the mating part fit. However, the minor dia. of the threads was cut to 1.19 witch is what the machinists handbook says, and the threads looked really good when they were done. They had about a .005 to .010 flat on the top of them. I was just curious if I was threadmilling correctly or not. Thanks for the help.
  2. I originally used the minor dia. but soon realized that wasnt right so I used a 1.25 chain. I also used the custom tool option with the tool drawn the size. If I wasn't using comp at the machine how would I control what size it cut? I can't seem to find any option like stock to leave.
  3. Well I finally tried thread milling for the first time. I was milling a 1.25 x 18 internal thread using a .375 dia single point tool with cutter comp set at the control. To get the thread to be the right size I had to take my tool size all the down to .350 . Does this sound about right? I could see maybe .370 or so but .350 . Thanks for the help.
  4. The size of the part was it. It measures 178 inches across. I imported it off of a website and I havnt really had a chance to do anything with it yet. Thanks for the help guys. I didn't realize that the size mattered.
  5. Thanks for the help. I tried analyzing the surfaces and they were all OK. It takes 1 minute and 12 seconds to shade though. Is there anythingelse that might cause this problem?
  6. I have a file that when I try to shade it, it takes about a minute to shade. I did a screen statistics and it shows only 335 trimed surfaces. I also did a screen regenerate display list and a ram saver. I suspected maybe a bad surface but I don't know how to analyse them to find out. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  7. I have to mention that your avater is the best. The incredible hulk was my childhood hero. And I still think Big Louy is the greatest body builder of all time.
  8. I edited my post to not support full arcs and that fixed it. I thought that control def controled this. Some how when I upgraded to X2 MR1 it changed. Thanks for the reply though I appreciate the quick response. Its really nice to have this forum. Im the only one at this facility that runs mastercam, besides the guy on the wire, and I think he still uses version 6 or 7.
  9. Before I upgraded to X2 MR1 all of my programs were point to point. Now it outputs arc statements in I,J,K, format and the machine is erroring out. I unchecked support arcs in the control def but it still outputs arc statements. The machine is a Cincinnati. Please help
  10. Cool. That helps alot. You don't know how much I appreciate the help. Thanks a million.
  11. It doesn't export as a group. It just keeps adding the programs on to the list. So do I have to delete all the toolpaths in the library everytime after I export some into it. I could of swore that it use to ask if you wanted to add the operation group as well, but it won't prompt me to do that.
  12. I did a search and couldn't find the answer. I'm having trouble exporting operations to a library. If I select all of my operations under a certain machine group it exports all the toolpaths but their all in order without being in their individual groups. Please help this is driving me crazy.
  13. I noticed that when I cant select certain programs via the shift key in one operation group that I can in another just fine. And also if I create another program in the op group that Im having trouble with then it will let me select the programs I want. I tried what Tim Johnson suggested about selecting a single program and it didn't work for me. Thanks for the input though. Hopefully all will be fixed with MR2.
  14. Oh well. I was afraid it might be a bug. Thanks for the input though. At least now I know it wasn't just me.
  15. Sometimes when I try to select a few programs from an operation group it won't let me. I select the first program press and hold the shift key and then select the last program I want and none of them get selected. If I close the session and open it back up again it works fine. What am I doing wrong? I did a search and couldn't find anything. Thanks for the help. Tim
  16. Thanks for the help Thad. The program that I was trying to verify was a 2d contour on a boss. I was ramping down at .015 with a 2 inch cutter. I changed it to .015 depth cuts with a lead in and out and for some reason that took care of the problem. I don't know if it was purely coincidentle or not.
  17. Ive been using turbo mode in verify with no problems until today. For some reason now it just goes to 1% and sits there. Could someone please tell me how to fix this, and then how to get to the config for verify. I would really appreciate it. Thanks a million. Tim
  18. I did a search before I posted and the only thing that sounde good was putting an m99 at the end of the program and a m00 at the start of the program to trick the machine into thinking it's running one continuous program. I don't know if that will work or not but its worth a try. Thanks for the input guys.
  19. Does anyone know how to disable the door interlock switch on a Cincinnati vmc-750? It would sure save me alot of time.
  20. I guess that's the same place you were refering to. I changed mine from 20 sec to 500 sec and it didn't change the cycle time at all.
  21. In the machine def. click on automatic tool changer. There is a place to adjust the tool change time, although I don't don't know if it will have an effect on the backplot times or not. HTH
  22. I finally got it. Called up the stl file under the verify configure screen and it worked like a charm. Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it.
  23. McamNut; Do you mean, under Settings, configuration, verify interface, verify settings? If I click on the file radio button, under stock settings and select my stl file it still doesn't work. Whenever I go back into settings, config, .... It reverts back to Box. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
  24. Whenever I verify my part I save as an stl file. Then under stock under stock setup I click on the radio button for file and then select the stl file I saved, but whenever I try to verify the next set of operations the stock still comes in as a rectangle but its much larger. The original stock was 3.5" square but when it comes in as the stl file it looks like it's 10" square. Please help.
