  1. Man, I just noticed I broke 300 posts.
  2. Well, that took care of the toolbar problems. Hopefully that'll fix the project to surface problem as well. I really appreciate the help guys.
  3. I didn't know there was another update already. Man them guys are fast. Thanks for the info Rickster. Maybe that'll clear up a few things.
  4. I'm running X2 MR1 SP1. I have X2 MR2 but I don't use it because the tool bars mess up every time I minimize. I was just hoping that someone had already found a fix for the project problem or maybe tell me what I was doing wrong.
  5. It's working fine now. But after a while it quits working. Then I shut down and restart and it'll work fine again. [ 04-24-2008, 03:18 PM: Message edited by: Tim Pruett ]
  6. I can't get lines to project to a surface. If I shut down and restart it works fine. I triple check the construction plane and it's correct. I just can't figure it out. Any ideas?
  7. I did a search on this and couldn't find anything. Has anyone found a work around for this? I can't get it to work. Thanks
  8. Laszlok, I tried what you recomended and it had no effect. I ended up setting my boundary to where I wanted the tool to cut to and I think that it will be ok. Thanks for the responses everyone.
  9. FAS I'm cutting an electrode and taking off an additional .005 per side. I guess I should've put that info in the orginal post but I didn't think it made a difference. I usually just offset my boundary about .005 but this time I went to .01 and I noticed that the tool was cutting all the way to the boundary. So I offset it a half inch and it still went all the way to the boundary. There isn't even a surface out that far.
  10. I tried parallel steep before a while back and became really confused. I couldn't figure it out so I never tried again. Would you care to explain how the parallel steep toolpath is different and maybe how to use it. I don't understand the angle setting part of it.
  11. I have it picked as surface to be cut. Does a parallel toolpath not see a vertical surface?
  12. No. I just tried extending the vertical surface and it still ignores it.
  13. I'm running a parallel toolpath, and it's violating a vertical walled surface completely. It's cutting right through it like it's not even there. What the heck am I doing wrong?
  14. edmbosto, I tried that and it still wouldn't work. Santa Fe, If I use a surface project toolpath it won't mill the undercut for the hooker. I need to use a lollipop mill or something to that effect and we don't have enything like that. Anyway, I figured out a differen't way of doing it. I had to create my toolpath from the front construction plane and then edit my nc file. I changed all of the "Y"s to "Z"s. Then I could use multi passes like I wanted. I just wondered why the multi pass function wouldn't work in a 3d contour toolpath. Thanks for the input though. It's nice to have all of you gurus to talk to whenever I want.
  15. I can't seem to get this to work. I'm turning an electrode in the mill and I usually use depth cuts, but in this case the trode is a hooker and if I use depth cuts it will turn off the hooker. How do I get the multi pass funtion to work. Or is there a better way to turn this trode in the mill?
  16. I appreciate the response. I kinda figured there wasn't a way to do it. Thanks anyway.
  17. Is there a way to get this type of toolpath to start and stop each cut in the same place everytime? I selected "use approximate start point" but it still jumps around all over the place.
  18. No. That took care of it. Thanks a million John.
  19. I did a search on this and found the answer but it won't work for me. I changed the colors for each tool under the verify interface, but all of them run at the color set for tool 1. What am I doing wrong?
  20. never mind. I figured it out. Thanks anyway though.
  21. Is there a way to get a pencil toolpath to climb mill instead of conventional mill? The very first path the tool makes is along my side wall wich is only .05 thick. I'm cutting a pocket in abs and the side wall is about an inch deep. Please help.
  22. We do have one particular piece that we run multiples of that is stainless which we rolltap. But we drill them a little oversize and the threads end up coming out a little loose. Is this standard procedure?
  23. If you are using a 2d contour toolpath the second page of the toolpath parameters in the upper righthand corner set the compensation type to control. Try it and see what happens. It should give you the g41 you are looking for.
