  1. Good Morning All, Thanks again to all that have replied, It is much as I expected, MasterCam is the way to go. We are have arranged with PTC for a demo of their product, and I already know of MC's capabilities. I will let everyone know the outcome. Thanks again. Regards,
  2. MillMan, My last job, the company only had Mill Level 1 and Lathe, but prior to that I had been using Mill level 3 and Lathe but no solids. I've gotten a quote on both MasterCam Mill Level 3 and Lathe, and Pro-E Design & Complete Machining package. The Pro-E Package as you might expect was slightly higher than was the MC Package. The Company desperately needs a change, we simply cannot continue with Esprit. Thanks For Your Input Regards
  3. Jean, I could not agree with you more. Fortunately I've only been using for the past two weeks, as I just started here, Although I did use Esprit for about a year and a half a couple of years ago. Hopefully I will be able to go back to MC soon, the guy I share an office with is really not looking forward to yet another Cam software, as he has not fully learned Esprit and has been using Genesis for the past 18 years. Regards,
  4. Hi Jammer, Thanks for the response. Did you're company try the Manufacturing side of Pro-E? What was wrong with the toolpaths? I do not want to screw-up as we've only had Esprit for a little over two years and we're ready to dump it! Thanks Again Former MasterCam user
  5. Good Morning, Who all uses MasterCam in conjunction with Pro-E files? Are there any known problems with the converter or inherent problems with Pro-E files in general? Our company is leaning towards Pro-E because of some of our larger customers pushing us in that direction. We are not sure whether or not we want to use Pro-E's Manufacturing Software, or go with MasterCam. I have recently changed jobs and am no longer using MasterCam, we are presently using Esprit along with it's headaches (mostly Post Processor) and we are obviuosly looking to change. I personally prefer MasterCam, but am looking for input from any who care to respond. Thanks to all in advance! Former MC user.
  6. Thanks again to all for the help! Like I said I won't be able to work on it again until Monday but, I'm quite certain that I know what I need to do now. I wish that I could convince my company to upgrade from Level 1. Have a great weekend!
  7. Murlin, thanks so much for the explanation, I understand and really can't wait to give it a try on the rest of the part. If all goes well I have another similar part that is more complex to try. Thanks Again! Regards,
  8. Murlin. I'm not sure exactly what you did to correct my problem. Are my lines detached? What is the purpose of the projected lines that you made? I only have Mill level 1 and Lathe at work but so I'm going to have to wait until Monday for the next class. Regards,
  9. Murlin, that's great! What exactly did you do so that I can correct the others? Jay, I've pretty much gone thru most of the projects in the book and unfortunately the instructor is generally tied up for the majority of the class with the slower students. This just happens to be a part from work that I am attempting to draw as a surface model. We never did get the job but I always thought that the part was kind of neat.
  10. Good afternoon Everyone, First off let me say that, I hope that anyone in the path of Isabell is high and dry and doing well! My question is that I've been working on a project in class that I have been unable to create a surface on four sections of a part. I've tried about everything that I can think of without any success. I've tried mostly trying with coons surface using automatic chaining and I always get an error stating that Automatic Chaining Failed - Cannot Reach Last Point. I've looked to be sure that I have a complete chain with all lines intersecting and have been unable to overcome this. I will post the file in the MC9 directory on the FTP site named 64507-295.mc9. Thanks in advance to al that reply. Regards
  11. Chris, Thanks that appears to have corrected most of my problems. I am working on a program now to see if it may cause any issues. Regards,
  12. Chris I am at work now, so I will try it this morning. I'll be sure to let everyone know the results. Thanks Again to All Regards,
  13. Here's a sample of the output that I am getting. Notice the "Y" and the "Z" on the same line about midway down. This is what I am trying to eliminate. % O0000 (PROGRAM NAME - 62000-379F) (DATE=DD-MM-YY - 20-08-03 TIME=HH:MM - 13:20) G20 G0G17G40G49G80G90 (3/8" CARBIDE 6 FL. ROBB JACK FINISH E.M. TOOL - 41 DIA. 14. Marc, Thanks for the quick response, but the line in question is already set to no. Regards,
  15. I know this is a stupid question but, How do I prevent a "Z" move from appearing in a rapid positional move in either the "X", "Y" or both axis. What I am after is, to be able to move to my location in the "X" and "Y" axis then rapid to my "Z" axis feed plane. I am using a modified Fanuc Mill post on a Fanuc 18M controller. Thanks in advance to all that reply, and please forgive my ignorance.
  16. Thanks Again, You Guys Are the Greatest!
  17. Hi All, How difficult would it be in my post, to add block numbers at the tool changes only? I am attempting this with a modified Mazak Post, programming for an old H500 Horizontal Mazak. Thanks in advance to all that reply and have a great weekend!
  18. Scott, Sincere Congrats on your 18th. My wife's about to do her 16th. in Sept. I know what a cliche it can sound like but one day at a time!
  19. Hi Lynne, I have a large Horizontal Boring Mill with a W axis that I primarily extend for reach only and do not really use it for any type of machining due to the small size of the W-axis servo. You might do a search as I believe this has been asked previously. Good Luck!
  20. Initially self taught, have since attended and completed training at a local vo-tech.
  21. Received mine Friday Afternoon!
  22. Sorry it took a couple of days to get back to everyone. I've tried downloading using a USB hub and same as before, no success. I will follow up with everyone that has been so kind as to offer help and suggestions, been swamped here and have not tried anything until this morniing. Thanks again!
  23. Hey Bucket! Small world huh? The company I worked for in S.C. made and stocked all of the installation kits for G.E. Turbines in Greenville. We also did a lot of work for Woodward FST, and Alcoa also in Greenville. Where are located? How's your business doing? Later Thanks again for all the help! tsewyek Clearwater, Florida Mill Level 1 and Lathe
  24. Anthony, Thanks again for your response, as a matter of fact I do have a USB Hub at home that is currently not being used, I will certainly give it a try on Monday. I will also have a shorter cable made to try on Monday, at this point I'm ready to try anything. Thanks again for the help Where in N.C. are You? I recently returned to Florida after 5 yrs. in S.C. South of Greenville, got to homesick & had to come home, also the Bottom fell out of GE's Turbine business. tsewyek Clearwater, Florida Mill Level 1 and Lathe
