  1. I started using the Iomega Peerless setup. What a great gizmo. You set which files to backup and it runs in the back ground. At the end of the day you can take it with you and plug it into your home base and it will catch everything up on your home or laptop pc. The hard drive is all in a nice little wallet size device that comes with a padded case for transporting between destinations. Peerless
  2. When I convert V8 files into V9.1, I get an error message that reads; Corrupt File notify your reseller. The geometry comes in but the toolpaths aren't there. If I go into V8 and save the toolpaths into the ops library, I can change the name, compress and use the ops in V9. There just isn't any associations left and I have to reselect the geometry in V9 Quite the little work around, but it beats having to start from scratch. Does anybody know how to fix this?
  3. gcode, Thanks for the help! For what ever reason MC was picking up the old V8 chooks file.(Probably operator error ) I didn’t catch this the first few times around. Thanks again.
  4. No. We have been using V8 and upgraded straight into V9.1. We have also used Windows 98 and 2000 pro without this issue. The post has worked well in these other setups. The post didn't require the .psb file to be used either. Would there have to be a .psb file with this post and XP pro and that might be what is causing the error? If this is the case, why will it work with the hardware acceleration turned down? Wouldn't it still cause this error? Some of the other problems I noticed are;(with full hardware acceleration that is,) This will post 3 -axis toolpathes but only 2 at a time. This will not post if the 1st operation is a 5-axis toolpath.
  5. Hello everybody! I have been having some difficulties with my post. When I post out, MC goes into an error mode and shuts down. If I adjust the video accellerator to half way this problem goes away. But I lose alot of the funtionality in other programs. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or If anyone might know a solution. I have used this post(which is a 5 axis post)in the past with no problems. So, why would the post effect the video card? Why this system? There are also issues with converting previous program versions into V9.1. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer. System: Dell 650 workstation XP Pro SP1 3ghz Xeon/533 NVidia Quadro4 900XGL 1gb SDRAM MC Router Pro V8.1.1 & V9.1) w/ Solids
  6. Sorry for posting the email address, I had my head on backwards. Lynne, I will call you soon to talk about the TCP.
  7. Has anyone heard anything about a release date?
  8. Lynne, Check with CNC Software He worked on our OASI/10 post along with our local reseller and they have done a great job with our stuff. We use the OASI/10 controller with a CMS machine that should be similar to yours. [ 03-26-2003, 12:17 PM: Message edited by: Greg McKay ]
  9. Hi, So would this cause issues or problems in creating complex surfaces and splines or is this something different altogether?
  10. Hi James, A couple of other systems you might look at; Global Shop and Relevant We researched these two as well as the Job Boss system. Global Shop had great features and extremeley detailed, Relevant had the best customer service, and Job Boss all around winner. All are user friendly, offer in house demos, and if memory serves me right willing to set everything up before they install at your place to avoid costly down time and problems. This would make for easier transition no matter what you are or not doing. All will allow you to start off small (module type set up) and then add as you grow or need more! I would be interested to know what direction you end up going. Good luck!
  11. Try the scale function(main menu/xform/scale) change to different level so you don't lose original geometry. If I remember correctly, you can divide what you want to end up with (1) by what you have (10), to get the scale factor. (Which would = .1. This takes the 10 inch line and makes it into a 1 inch line.
  12. Well sign me up! I think the forum for Beta sites would be a great idea. Way to go James! MCQC has done a great job! But I think this would help everyone with being able to actually talk about the new stuff and possibly give MCQC some even better feedback.
  13. Hi ScottyB, We are running a CMS KM-48. It is a great 5 axis machine w/ a horizontal rotary. We build lots of stair parts with it. We've been using MC since V7. I like the Router package alot. Can't wait for V9 Router to come in!
  14. And could you get that done by Friday???
  15. Would it be possible when you post a new topic, before it was actually sent to the board, to have a search start automatically for key words and phrases which would link to the search engine and list the "10 most recent" posts on that subject and then if you haven't received what you are looking for, you could click a confirm new topic button to send to the board for a reply? Just curious?
  16. This is more curiousity than need, but is there a way to set tolerances for ras2vec or is this more of a pixel/video card issue. I have read the other threads about drawing lines coming out too distorted or jagged and wondered if there was a better way to dial in how close the software reads the picture. Is there anything that could give better results or perhaps a work around to tighten things up?
  17. Hi Trevor, Thank you! We are using a CMS KM-48. Beautiful machine! 5 axis with a table mounted horizontal rotary and aggregates. Comes with a 16 tool changer too. I was at the show in Atlanta. Man, if I had to choose another machine ...there are just too many good ones anymore! That insert bit is really sweet! We use it a lot for cutting 1" thick red oak/white oak at about 275 ipm @ 18,000 rpm.(That's a full cut too!) This allows it to stay cooler and cut longer. We are able to cut 4 times as many parts for a couple dollars more. Watch the plunge cuts though, you need a small ramp in some cases.
  18. Hey Trevor, Try Guhdo's insert tooling.(www.guhdo.com)Their Novitec bit is great. Extremely high feedrates and excellent hogging properties.Initial cost is high, but you get 3 sharpenings out of each set, & a longer tool life. Another cutter is from an Italian co. called "Fapil." They have a line of six flute hoggers that run at 18,000 rpm and can eat a ton of wood in short order. The only U.S. distributor I know is CMS North America out of Grand Rapids.
  19. Is this book different than the books being sold in the books section? If it is, how might I acquire a copy?
  20. After looking at this a little closer, if you don't use either setting in entry/exit(approach height or retract height)and you set the retract to desired height and feed plane to desired height(multiaxis parameters page) and then adjust the plunge rate and the retract rate (tool parameters page)to the desired amounts would you really need the other buttons?
  21. Count Off; One...... We do 5ax, though all in wood. I haven't had to use this. I see where this could allow alot more control and would like to see it refined.
  22. Rick, I just wanted to say thanks for the link! Pretty cool info. I think this would be a good start for a resource information page or folder. Maybe the forum could start an educational resource and or links page that would allow users to offer and use this type of information for easier access. This might could include shareware related to Cam and machining, educational sites, tooling-- anybody have some other ideas? We all know of a few sites, maybe if we all shared we could develope a huge resource list. Thanks again!
  23. Could anyone tell me if you can convert the .ops file in Mill to the .ops file in Router? I know how to do this for individual library operations, but I am trying to do the whole library at once.
  24. Just out of curiousity, who would I talk to about the price for Project manager? Or could someone tell me about how much I could expect to pay, hypothetically speaking of course.
  25. Man, you guys are the best! Thanks for all the help! I like the Camaix solution, but Outlook will be easy to send to anyone I need to. As for the server, rumor has it that we are upgrading soon. Life is too good!
