  1. M08 is on M09 is off push coolant button on panel work also
  2. How about shutting the door B4 the coolant turns on. It's happened twice since my last post. Or better yet getting an office guy out watching and getting him with the coolant. Then there is the EDM flushing cross drill hole that didn't get plugged.
  3. E-stop power down on our Haas, Hurco and Mitz EDM. Never had to push E-Stop yet after 20 years to stop a crash, only stop or hold button "knock on wood"
  4. Offset your circle a little smaller than your cutter dia as many times as necessary and trim them to make a short 2d toolpath. Chain the line work and rotate and copy for the 3 other corners. Another way would be to use a pocket tool path with your circle as an Island. HTH
  5. Each of these files do different things within Mastercam. Change your setting to read .mc9 or all Mastercam files so you don't have to sort through so many files.
  6. Yes, may times. I would say you get a nice finish, nothing a polishing stone can't fix if you want a better finish. It also depends on the tapper you require. I have finished them going in a circular patter(contour ramp) and vertically(surface radial) tool path.
  7. Two Minnesota guys rent a boat and go fishing in a lake. They are amazed at the number of fish that they caught that day, so one says to the other, "We'll have to come back here tomorrow!" The other asks, "But how will we remember where this spot is?" The first guy then takes a can of spray paint, paints an X on the bottom of the boat, and says, "We'll just look for this X tomorrow." The other guy says, "You idiot! How do you know we'll get the same boat?"
  8. Did you hear about the tragedy in Poland? In Poland's largest shopping mall, there was a terrible power outage. People were stuck on the escalators for 4 hours.
  9. Not sure but was it at miteebite.com
  10. You have to extend the spline so it is longer than the parent or slab surface to get it to trim. I think this might be your problem. If you download my file, I think I blanked the 3 lines I used to trim the 2 surfaces.
  11. Thad, I created an edge curve at intersection of the 2 surfaces. Then extended the spline with a line on each end and trimmed the surface. Midwest
  12. Added file hope this works Trimsurfaces_mid.zip
  13. Iskander teh Owl After you run the tool you do get a very slight working edge. If the tool chips you can see it very easily. I started cutting with only 3000 rpm's a few years back, you just have to slow the feed rate down. We build molds so we also do low quantities.
  14. Iskander teh Owl Try it some time you might be surprized. The tip might chip with some carbides. I have one now that has cut a lot of engrving without chipping the tip. The tool has to run true to last.
  15. For engraving I take an 1/8 dia carbide round or old em shank and grind a 3 sided pyramid cutter. I set the cutter grinder to 15 deg or 20 deg. most of the time and grind to a sharp piont. Step down of .002, step over of .004 for roughing and .001 - .002 for finishing. Feed of 10 ipm and a rpm 10,000. Cuts well in soft or hardened steel.
  16. Nothing is dumb........ When you back plot a test helix say 1.0 deep with a .100 step down does it draw a 360 degee rotation on the screen each time you push the "S" key? If so it sounds like a post problem then.
  17. Under ramp option is Linearize helixes unchecked??????
  18. Draw your radius 2D then the option should be there for you.
  19. ( CONTOUR RAMP ) X0. Y-1.0156 Z.1 G1 Z.075 F15. G2 X-.8954 Y-.4792 Z.0578 I0. J1.0156 F9.8 G0 Z.25 M5 G49 Z.25 G91 G28 Z0. % I read the .075 difference on the print now this matches what your tool path does in Z.
  20. ( CONTOUR RAMP ) X0. Y-1.0156 Z.1 G1 Z.075 F15. G2 X-.8954 Y-.4792 Z0. I0. J1.0156 F9.8 G0 Z.25 M5 G49 Z.25 G91 G28 Z0. M30 % If use contour ramp the code is a lot shorter.
  21. After you read FAQ look on your Mastercam disc. for a post.
