This morning I started to try this again. What I have found interesting so far is that the surface I was trying to trim to was an offset NURBS surface. If I trim to the original surface it seems to trim perfectly. Well more playing to do.
We use the Romocron head. It is very good and easy to use. Pretty pricey though. Also have you tried to use the metric system. You can sometimes cheat with using the metric system and make the part come back into tolerance. Give it a try sometime.

Zero,
Company policy prohibits me from letting this file out. I have the surface extending past the solid. I only created the curve to check the error between where the solid trimmed to and where the surface really is.
I am new to solids, I am trying to trim a solid to a compound contour, and it doesn't want to trim it properly. I can creat a curve where the surface and solid intersect and it will be .020 to .080 different.
Help me please.
I am using Mastercam 8.1.1
We also have intermitten problems with verify crashing. Many time if we will rotate the part a little bit it will then verify fine. Would like some help to "really fix the problem." Also if you change out of true solids or use a wireframe tool it will work sometimes.
Jeff,
We have UG and have always used the parasolid converter. I have not seen any problems with doing it this way. What is supposed to be the advantage of the converter?
I can't seem to get the FTP working right. But a thought. Have you roughed it out to the stock that you are talking about then turn off the posting of that path and do a remachine on the next path. I have been very successful with this on using different types of extrusion parts. Good Luck.
We do this all the time. If you will take and name the view for your WCS then in your work offset put a 0 for G54 1 for G55 ect. You may also have to change your post.
I also do finish passes and stay off the surface what I need to then just increase parameters to make it more of a roughing style. Then I can copy the toolpath setup and tighten the parameters for the final finish.
Ops I mean off the surface.

If you are using surfaces, There is a Depthcut option that you can go in a specify what depths you want to cut at minimum depth, max depth and critical depths. I have elimated most air cuts with this manner and have been able to control where cuts would be when you come back to recut with a smaller finish mill. Also if you are using stock to leave make sure that you set the critical depths relative +Z the amount that you stay off the surface. Good luck
"Try running the ramsaver utility in the File menu.
It has solved all kinds of problems for me in the past. "
That didn't do the trick. I'll keep trying everything.
" I had a 3003 v8.1
Try esc,esc page down or alt f1.
This worked with out haveing to reload.
It's a little pain , vbut worth it."
Tried but it didn't seem to work. Any other suggestions?
I am using a Spacetec Spaceball 4000flx. There are times when using mastercam V8.1.1 that it
quits working. The only way that I can get it to start back up is exit mcam and start it back up.
Any suggestions?
I am trying this for the first time.
I am from Grantsville, Utah.
Could someone tell me what the Optimize check box does just below the Cutter Comp in
Control does exactly? I've looked in all my books and can't find the explanition. I am using Ver. 8.1.1
Thanks
