  1. Thanks guys. I got the X+ addon installed the other day. That holder chook is nice. I read through the PDF. Easy enough. I have no splines in my geometry. So what gives??? File is attached. Sandvik 0705220 A345-051R19-13M.mcx-8
  2. I used to consider myself very good at creating custom tools in X6 and even X7. But I can't get anything to work in X8. I keep getting errors when trying to import custom geometry from a file. Then when I finally get it to work it says it will not show the correct tool geometry when backplotting and verify. Is there somewhere I can find help on this subject? Thanks.
  3. Awesome! Thanks Mr. Paris. Were you working at Colt last I was here? Or am I thinking of someone else?
  4. Is there a way to force the side of the insert the tool is compensating from? I just posted out a face groove program and it is compensating from the ID side instead of the assumed OD side. It changed when I changed the tool to a Left-Hand tool. But I want to force it to use the OD side as if it were a right hand tool because that is the easiest side to touch off of. Thanks!
  5. It is a fixed 90 degree head. And yes, the rotary is facing vertical rotating about -Z- axis. I will post up an MCX file when I get time to work on it more. It will be a few days before I get back to this part. Thanks for the help!
  6. Thanks for the feedback. Just wondering what to expect as since I will be programming the machine.
  7. We just bought a large VTL made by Mighty. I was wondering if anyone on here has used them. Are they dependable?
  8. Sorry, my post was a bit misleading. We are actually running this part on a VF6 with a rotary facing vertical. I was told I could modify the 5x def to make this work.
  9. We have a right angle head coming. We have a part that requires a 3D contour or a surfacing toolpath be done from the ID of a 30" ring. I was told by a colleague that I could modify our 5 axis machine definition to make it work for using a right angle head. We went through our machine definition over the phone and he said I have the right component setup in our Haas 5-axis definition. He said in the toolpath Misc Values page to set the Right-Angle head angle to -90 which works for his setup which is the same as ours. But that's all I got from him. Is this the proper way to do this? How do you go about programming this way? I am being told by our reseller we need to buy a new post and they need to setup the component for us. I am somewhat familiar with editing posts making minor changes. I can't see this needing a completely new post to get this done. If someone could point me in the right direction to make this work I would really appreciate it. I would like to get this taken care of myself if possible. Thanks.
  10. I don't want it to change the gear according to the spindle speed. I want to force a gear setting. So I assume the only way to do this is manually editing the code.
  11. Is there a way to force M41 or M42 in the NC code when outputting a toolpath?
  12. I see what you mean. I changed that lead out on the facing toolpath and problem solved. Thanks!
  13. Thanks. I have another dilemma now. Look at the WTF toolpath. It has some weird move at the beginning of the toolpath that supposedly plunges into stock. Can someone please explain what I am doing wrong to cause this? Because I run into it all the time and usually I somehow get it fixed. But not this time. Thanks. Lathe Op.mcx-8
  14. Thanks Pilot! So does the number of cut depths get divided into the depth of the thread?
  15. Ok, I need some help with a thread toolpath as I have never programmed one before. I am cutting an M50 x 1.5 6G thread. The GREEN line in the geometry is the area to be threaded. Can someone put a threading a toolpath on this so I can see what I am supposed to do? Thanks! Lathe Op.mcx-8
  16. The little windows that pop up every time you select a tool like line, xfrom, etc... I thought there used to be a way to get rid of those. Am I mistaken?
  17. I am not using check surfaces. And my tolerance is set to .0005". I changed the gap to follow surfaces and it does fine. But I always like the smooth setting to add a small tangential overlap. And this sometimes happens. I kinda figured it was just seeing something at the surfaces edge it doesn't like.
  18. Can someone explain what causes these little lifts in toolpaths sometimes?
  19. Ok. I will see if that is it. I was just thinking since they worked in other apps it shouldn't be the mouse. Thanks for the info.
  20. Yesterday I started having issues with my drop-down menus in MasterCam. When I click them they open and immediately close. This only happens in MasterCam, so I have ruled out my mouse being the culprit. We are running X8 (17.0.14947.0). Anyone else ever run into this problem?
  21. Funny. If I zoom out, save my configuration, it reverts to where I was zoomed when I saved my config.
  22. I am used to it using the last zoom level. But mine is not doing that now for some reason. Is there a setting in the config for this that I am not seeing?
