  1. That is what is so great about MasterCam. I don't know why all software manufacturers don't do this.
  2. YUP! No idea how that happened. But thar it is. Thanks!
  3. I don't know what changed. But now when I open any file previously worked on all of the toolpaths are in need of regeneration when the file opens. Any idea what is causing this? Is it time to upgrade to X9? Thanks
  4. I think I do. I tried to catch you again at IMTS before I left, but you were off your leash lol. So I went and hung out with Randy Maynard a bit over at the Mastercam booth
  5. To add to this, Mr Kramer mentioned a lonmg time ago to me how to hide the MasterCam origins. I have the ones at the four corners visible, plus the standard origin. How do you hide these again? I remember it was a shortcut key combination or something? I need to get that verisurf addon again Thanks
  6. As soon as possible man. I started a new job at a shop that is still a little new. We are going through some growing pains, but I love it! We get to make this place how we want it and I have some serious leverage into the decision making part of it all. It feels good to be respected again! I am in the middle of trying to move, relearn MasterCam, finish my divorce and custody battle, and fill out all this darned paperwork for my insurance and all that crap lol. I will be around a lot more like I was as soon as I get my PC setup in the new place. They are giving me a laptop for now to use at home. So I am in a good place again... FINALLY!
  7. When I select "Analyze Entities" for example, the dialog pops up right in the middle of my screen. I move it out of the way and select an item to analyze and the dialog moves right back in the middle of my screen. Any idea what is causing this? Thanks.
  8. Learn something new every day. And now we know the Stig is named Roger!
  9. To keep from having to bother Webby with requests to be added to the group by people that have never posted here before. The special account settings are intended for people who are going to upload and download files to participate. The reasoning for creating the members only access was so people would be involved. It defeats the purpose to just give everyone access to the files if they don't intend to participate. So if they program one small part it should show that they are willing to at least try. It's not like everyone has to program every part. I am struggling to find time to here lately. But I know eventually I will get back in the swing of things. So this idea to have people program a part to gain access is just a way to ensure the group has members that want to contribute at least a little of their time.
  10. Ok, we can come up with something easier then. But do you think that would be a good idea?
  11. Webby said he went ahead and added you. So welcome aboard! I think from here on anyone wanting in should program the Idler bracket in this thread and submit it. What do you guys think?
  12. Since this is your first post on eMastercam welcome to the forum. And since this is your only post how about this... there is an idler bracket EMCX file in this thread. How about you program that and submit it back here and you will be in the group. There is also a link in this thread to the download for the learning edition of Mastercam.
  13. Yes, I have a mill drill I use for spot drilling. I use the same tool for profiling and chamfering. These all require different feeds and speeds. But they are all the same tool in my machine. So in my programs 9 times out of 10 I have: #1 - 5/16" Mill Drill - Spot #1 - 5/16" Mill Drill - Chamfer I don't like having to edit my feeds and speeds on 50 toolpaths because I am using the same tool to do 3 different operation types.
  14. That makes perfect sense Rich. But this wasn't a problem in X6. I realize the software is completely different in X7. But I really hope they can get this resolved somehow. Now I just got this error on a tool I created in X7 and saved to my library...
  15. The sample files that come with Mastercam are pretty useful too in understanding how toolpaths are used for certain things.
  16. An epoxy sealer would probably work good.
  17. I haven't opened a single X6 file and converted it to X7 because I am the only one using X7 at this time in our shop. I am having too many issues to have to listen to everyone else complain about me screwing up their PC's after installing X7 and them not being able to use verify, and create new tools. I have yet to be able to get a good verify on a large program. On the last part I programmed I opened an STP, created a bunch of tools, imported a couple, and some of the created tools became corrupt. Custom tools and facemills seem to be problematic at times. I consider myself a custom tool master and the first one I created in X7 came in like .250" too low in Z and the wrong diameter. I had to revert back to a regular slot mill because I could not get it to work. As for the duplicate tools, I use duplicate tools with different feeds and speeds set for slotting, profiling, facing, etc. So Rich, you are saying this isn't a good thing to do? Because if so I am just going to go back to X6 because I can't take the time to deal with this on every part I program. I have had the same tool library since X and it's been a major work in progress that is a lifesaver when programming a complex part. I really don't want to re-create all of these tools.
  18. Ok, I ran the new file on my 3 year old AMD PC. Here are the specs... Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H Motherboard AMD Phenom II X4 840 @ 3.2GHz 16 GB Corsair Vengence running at 1333 MHz 120GB Corsair Force GT SSD Boot Drive Quadro 2000D Video Card 25" HP 2509B Monitor Mastercam X6 Home Learning Edition It regenerated in about 18 minutes...
  19. Jay, I am with ya. The new Verify is real laggy. I am not liking it as much as I thought I would.
  20. I am getting this on tools imported from my X6 library, from new tools. I am having tools convert to custom tools upon re-opening the file. It's a bit of a pain when you have different speeds and feeds set in toolpaths and you have to replace a tool. Please fix this ASAP.
  21. Ok. It doesn't show under your avatar that you are in the group is why I was wondering. Edit: Or mine either LOL. I guess it is a random thing Webby was adding to some people.
  22. Jay, I know what Brandon is saying. Your courses are great. So are Derek's and so are the tutorials on here. The hard part for you guys as instructors is the time it would take to show each of these parameters used in different ways. It takes time and experience to learn what each parameter does in various circumstances. I think that is what Brandon means. And unfortunately you could dedicate an entire class to each toolpath to show all of the ins and outs of each of these parameters. It would be very difficult to go into that much depth, because there are just so many things you can do with all of the toolpath settings. That is where I think the learning group can be very useful. If we got some more people involved it would be even better. By the way Brandon, I thought you were in the learning group? Message Webby if you want to be added
