  1. Yeah, just did that. Thanks for the confirmation. I also have the Machine definition using the 2X control definition. Everything seems to be posting out the way it needs to now.
  2. Ok, so my programs post out with V values which alarm the machine out since it is just a 2X Lathe. Can this 4X post be edited easily enough to omit these V values? Edit: I see in the post I see... y_axis_mch : 0 #SET_BY_MD - Machine has a Y axis, 0=no, 1=yes - Set based on Axis Combination in MD Does that mean I will need to modify the machine def to get rid of this? Edit #2: I did just that and it is fixed. Did I do this right? I created a new 2X Machine definition then I deleted the right spindle and the Y-axis on the turret. It posts out correctly now. So I just want to make sure I didn't do something I wasn't supposed to do. Thanks
  3. I will give that a shot. Thanks.
  4. I still have X8. I don't have admin rights on my pc at work so I am at the mercy of the IT dept for updates. Are you talking manually editing the defaults file? Because I have always done it inside Mastercam. It has saved my settings, because when I go to Settings>>Control Definition and click on Operation Defaults and I open a toolpath my settings are still there. But if I create a toolpath my default settings are not there. Clearance plane is turned off by default again. And it caused a crash today because I didn't catch it. Also, in the operation defaults the toolpaths had names. Now the toolpaths are just labeled 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. Any ideas? Thanks Thad
  5. Do Operation Defaults not work any more? I went in and set all of my clearance planes and stuff the way I like (like I have a hundred times) and the settings don't take. When I create a toolpath the stock settings are still there. What gives?
  6. I was just thinking that is how I would have to go around it. Thanks for the confirmation.
  7. Yeah, that is the way my icons are setup. But when MasterCam starts, in the configuration it starts with Mill. If I start lathe I get an error when it starts that says I don't have the proper license. It's a minor nuisance.
  8. We have switched to a NetHasp and I now have 3 icons on my desktop that launches Lathe, Mill Level 3, or Mill 5X. Each one starts with the same configuration and the startup product is set to Mill. Is there a way to tie a configuration to each one of these shortcuts so I don't get the error dialog stating I don't have the correct license when I start Lathe for instance?
  9. In all previous versions go to Settings/Configuration/Toolpaths and make sure Repaint Toolpath is unchecked. Does that not work in X9?
  10. I just noticed I have this problem with Lathe. So thanks for the additional info!
  11. Thanks. Our reseller actually sent us a modified post. I figured it was an easy flip switch.
  12. Ok, I am posting out the program but all of my values for X are negative numbers. What gives?
  13. Lol. Aren't you from the UK? Or am I thinking of someone else?
  14. It's 718 Inco. It's being held with stock hard jaws. 3 of them clamping from the ID which is already roughed in. Using ceramic inserts. When flipped and finished it's going to be held exactly the same way. You have your hand on a can of worms and are peeling the lid open. Do not go there!
  15. Ok wait Dodgerfan... TM haha. The area where Stock Recognition is in my properties dialog is grayed out. That is my problem. What do I not have set correctly that allows that option to be used? (I am just going to alter my signature to say)... Thanks NEVERMIND... I got it
  16. That is what I asked in my second question, if I should just use a rough toolpath. I am more trying to figure this out now just because it is pi$$ing me off. But I will take your advice and just use the roughing toolpath Guyinthedesert, here ya go If I turn on roughing it cuts back and forth for some reason. But no matter what I try I cannot get it to cut to the face which is the longer green line.
  17. Also, I hate to be such a noob, but how do I create a WCS to flip this part over to repeat this struggle on the back side? I basically messed around and got the D+/Z+ datum on the screen and pasted my geometry there and got this to work. I have tried to flip everything around using WCS and am at a loss. Thanks again!
  18. Ok, here is the file. The red square is of course my stock. The light blue is the finished part. And the green is where I need to cut it to. I have figured all of this out just playing with the settings. So anywhere that I could improve PLEASE point me in the right direction. But at the preset time I cannot get the facing toolpath to cut the face the way I want it to. I have tried every setting and nothing seems to work. So please tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks guys. Lathe.mcx-8
  19. Or should I just use a rough toolpath to do the face?
  20. So I am in the middle of re-learning MasterCam for mills. Now I have a lathe program I need to get done ASAP. I have never programmed a lathe in MasterCam. Can I get all the lathe gurus here to send me their phone numbers, addresses, and next of kin? I managed to somehow get a rough toolpath to cut the area I want it to cut finally. Now I am trying to figure out a simple facing toolpath and I cannot get it to cut where I want it to. If I choose "Select Points" and select my stock boundary it doesn't cut down to my finish Z which is at zero. If I select "Use Stock" and set my finish Z to zero it tells me "The toolpath starts with the tool embedded in the stock. Modify the toolpath so it starts outside of the stock boundary." I don't see anywhere in the very limited options of this toolpath to do that. Please help. Thanks. P.S. Lots more questions coming!
  21. I see I opened a can of worms < me frantically places worms back in can. My tool is basically defined as a 2" Square corner mill. The tool itself is a Widia 90 degree face mill with sharp corners. I am running a 40% stepover. At the very end the tool lifts .020" in Z as it travels in X and Y. If I delete this .020" lift in the code I have no more nub. I do not see an option to define the lift at the end of the toolpath. Going good man. How bout you? It's great to see everyone is still here. I am still piecing my life back together but will be a lot more active here soon once I get back to programming at home.
  22. When the tool gets to the center it leaves a nub. How do you prevent this?
  23. Can't live without one. Thanks to Jay for turning me on to them!
