  1. I have been a user for many years and always wondered why Mastercam hides to coolant two levels deep in the edit tool menu? why not put it up front and give an option to have it on for every tool..... Some times if I edit a tool and then post the program, the coolant will turn off in the middle of a cut! This is such a nuisance, Grrr.... I need to go back to the M/C program and check every operation that uses the tool, check reinitialize speeds and feeds what a pain. I always use the option "Use tools step peck coolant" checked on Or am I just stuck in my old ways and need to learn something new.....
  2. way cool I was just wanting this the other day!!
  3. This is the Mechanica-art guy from above I could not log into my account for some reason so this is my work account to reply......... In the past I would create my own macro programs to read the values into the height offset registers, worked great! Yes I have been trough all the scenarios as above. I currently use a set point on my machines (Okuma) to measure tool length offsets. Very accurate when machining molds..... And have used the "G59 0,0,0" method in the past. The controls are at the school and are on Sharp CNC machines. Fanuc 21i. Does Fanuc have a parameter that will read only from the machine position? I called Fanuc directly and they did not really know.... I just need to know if Fanuc has a method or parameter, or have I been missing something all these years...... I really do not like to teach the students to measure tools off the top of the part. It creates to many variables when using two vises multiple work offsets and so on. Measuring off a set point from the table is the most accurate and simple method in my opinion. It also teaches the students about the machine, work coordinate, and length offset systems and how they work with each other in a program.
  4. Nothing more sexy than freshly machined hardened H13 tool steel......Its a machinist thing..,....

  5. What a handsome couple

  6. So I have been trying since august to get a helper on the weekends, still looking......... I am really getting tired of being stuck home on the weekends. If I go someplace I have to pay for help........ Draining .........

  7. You should never have to cancel a tool length offset when switching between WCO systems. Fanuc is still very down ward comparable, An old program should work fine. Some thing like this N1G28G91Z0M5 GOG40G49G80G90G98 T1M6 G54X1.Y1.M3S6500 G43Z3.H1M8 M98P1000 G55X1.Y1. M98P1000 G56X1.Y1. M98P1000 M9 G29G91Z0M5 G28G91Y0 M30 Your WCO system should adjust for the Z values. Are you using positive or negative offsets?
  8. My question is why would you want to cancel the tool length offsets?
  9. We figured it out! The kid who works here has been turning the mix knob eight turns instead of to the number eight! I checked the thickness and it was off the refractometer.......... Traings insued, and he is fine now
  10. I know this is an old posting, but I am using extream cut 251 and it is jelling? Any recomendations???????

  14. Here is what I did, took a little time but engraves clean and fast, no pocket routine.......
  15. I will try that. What I did was make 1" tall letters in my font then use offset countour to "tweek" what I need. Then I scaled it down, looks good. I have seen engraving houses do single line script letters that look real clean and are fast to process. I am going to contact an engraving guy and pick his brain. It would be nice to have this as a c-hook or something of the sort.
  16. Oh and I do not want to turn a simple engraving job into a huge pocket program! KISS KISS KISS Help.....
  17. Does any one know of a source for single line cursive engraving fonts? I need to engrave some cursive but the fonts provided are "pocket" style. When it engraves it looks stupid! I just want to follow a clean single line and adjust the depth or cutter diameter for the proper wdth of the letter.
  18. Seven days and Theresa is still in hospital.. Caring for someone for so long, it leaves a huge hole in your life when they are not around. To look at your spouse and see her helpless and sick, the emotions that flood your mind are very difficult to handle. So many minute details of our life come back to me, memories i thought were gone.

  19. I am starting a class in a month teaching fourth year apprentice students CNC tech. I am including Mastercam in the training course this semester. What training books have you used? I am looking for good solid training book. The Students will purchase their own books for the class, and I want to be sure they will be able to utilize the book in the future too.
