  1. If you go to eapprentice they offer a one day free pass so you can check it out. Thought this feature was very cool. I used streaming teacher no complaints. How is Mastercam University? Anyone been there???
  2. I still can't seem to access the ftp site. I get a 550 cwd alarm no such file or directory. Anybody up to the challenge!
  3. Thanks for the info guys. Really appreciate the response and help. Even with some of the bumps going on on the other side still the best place to come and get the answers. To all who help and have helped many over the years THANK YOU!!!. Have a happy ho ho and a save new year
  4. Our design dept just switched to V9 Solidworks X2 won't load it. I'm the only one with X3 right now, it does fine. Is there a patch to update X2 MR2 SP1 ??????
  5. If you had live tooling on your lathe you could endmill it out if you are more comfortable with milling. ditto: +1 on Goldorak +1 on Columbo
  6. Here is another thought. I make a lot of shaft/rotors for stm turbines. I bring the solidworks solid in, under your solids tab at the bottom of the column is solid layout this feature makes a 2-d drawing out of you solid. It also gives you the option of which view you would like. If you happen to pick 3view ansi you just pick and delete the views you do not want.
  7. Another thing that causes mega files is the redo/undo buttons. If you set it to limit the redos to just a few(1 or 2) it does not save all the geometry for the redo to go back 100's of times. When I was new at M/C I would just pull up a file and delete the geometry, import the new geometry in to the file and use set up I had made This is where M/C was remembering all the old Geometry, so if I hit the redo button 500 times I could go back. Did not know that then but now mine is set at 2. No more mega files.
  8. Yup yesterday I coodnut spell programmer. Today I rrrrr wun???????
  9. Hey Jeff! "J" is the number of threads in one inch. This the same way Okuma does in in their OSP5000/OSP7000. From the Undisputed KING Of brain farts!!!! Terry
  10. Is this Heaven??? No it's Iowa. Been my heaven all my life!
  11. Should read either take it out or put a # in front of it>
  12. Hey Ashan I fixed that problem by taking the following out of the post( Put# in front of) if speedrpm > maxss$, speedrpm = maxss$ The OOOOOOOOOO represent where it was under pspindle. pspindle #Spindle speed calculations for RPM [ OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO if speedrpm < min_speed, speedrpm = min_speed ]
  13. I use it to programmed two large lathes and a large vtl. Also two Okumas (post is along way from being great on these. It works okay for me.But I have had to jump thru a lot of hoops and afro-americanize it some. I have a lot of ?'s also, Those will come in other posts stay tuned. Here is the first question. I am grooving wheels. To put it simply put a t-slot in the od of a 30" dia round part. I hook(machine) one side use the Mirror translate, adding new ops and geometry for the other side. Is Mastercam supposed to switch the lead in and outs and direction of chains automtically? It does not. The last system I used Cadra did this(of course it was apt based). Should it or not? If yes is the answer, what is the fix. If answer is no I will just file it under one more hoop! PS TOOLPATH EDITOR IS MY FRIEND!! Thanks Terry x2mr2sp1 Dresser-Rand
  14. Thanks I was just curious.
  15. Thanks Gilberto. Did your investigation into what Shopware told me come up with anything??
  16. Crazy had wrote in an previous post(the recently locked ones) that he had tweaked in his own post for his Okuma. The statment was made that he did not want to spend the money on a post that would not work in X3. My question may sound stupid, but does that mean that the posts we are currently using in X2 won't work in X3(ie start all over??). Thanks in advance for the input. Terry X2 MR2 SP1 Mill3 Lathe Solids 5Axis Dresser-Rand
  17. Thanks for the info. I forgot to mention that the parts I am talking about are lathe parts and 2-d geometry.
  18. BEERS to ya Crazy!!! Been waiting for someone to thump his xxxx. I am fairly new to the forum and did not want to pass judgement. Even I know better than to xxxx down the back of the guys on this forum and tell them it's raining. Man! There is a lot of smarts in this community and more than willing to share! don't think he will hang long. What a loss!! Thanks guys for the help I've have got Terry
  19. Good Morning Guy's, This sketch parametric c-hook came up in my family of parts programming post on the regular forum. Gilberto suggested it. When I my reseller about it They about croaked, stating they would not support it. The reason was it crashed a couple of there computers to the point of reinstalling windows. Is this c-hook a problem? Any experience Positive or negative??? Being raised in the world of apt and plug and play macros on simliar parts, the boss say's can't that be done in mastercam??? My uneducated reply to him( and I stress uneducated being a rookie at this)Kind of. We just rechain geometry now after importing the proven operations. He would like more, just imput dimensions and go. My brain says somewhere somehow that could happen with Mastercam if someone with the smarts wrote the right .net/chook. I do not have the smarts for that yet. Someday, the good Lord willing I will. I have come to learn of the wealth of knowledge here on the forums and respect it. So here is the Real question is something like this possible? is it possible but not practical(err whut????). I hope I haven't made this sound more confusing than it is. Looking forwards to hearing the opinions of the M.O.M.'S(Masters of Mastercam) Thanks Terry X2 Mr2 SP1 SOLIDS MILL3 LATHE Dresser-Rand
  20. It was mentioned under my topic Family of parts programming. I posted it on Dec 10th. It sounded good to me. I went to my reseller to get it and They said they would not support, as it had crashed some of their computers and the had to reload windows????? I asked about any horror stories or successes. Got no replies. Is this okay to use??????? I would like to at least try it. Terry X2MR2 SOLIDS LATHE MILL3 DRESSER-RAND
  21. Has anyone had bad luck with this c-hook? My reseller won't support it. They say it has crashed severalof there computers to the point of reloading windows xp. Any horror stories or success out there? I was talking to Shopware in Chicago. They are a top 10 reseller. So I was just wondering what's up.
  22. Cool I gotta alot of things to try now. Where would someone get the sketch parametric c-hook?
  23. Thanks Cappy for jumping in. Those are the things I forgot to write in my original ?. WE do a lot of 2-d work and the programs are plug and play. I hand write a lot of varible prgms for our Okumas. We do not have Pro-E and I agree in certain instances if it a'int broke. But management bought Mastercam and said use it everywhere then throw the old stuff away???? I going to try the drill cycle thing. I also think Crazy you have a great idea. Maybe the logic could work like this. Make a program of the part in question, when you get a part that looks just like it, but with diffrent dims write logic in to the post to ask you for shift amounts for each variable. Say you cut a 10" od and this time needed a 9" od the post would prompt "shift amount for od. Put in 1" and slicker than bug snot it is done? Does this make sense??? err am I just stupid? The next question is I a'int smart enough yet to do that. But I know of people who are. Thanks guys for all the info. Keep it coming. The Old Aptasaurous aka RDKLLKNG Terry
  24. Thanks for the heads up. I will give it a shot and post how it went.
