Any one make any advances on the Title yet??? I am curious to see if Bogus Mill can take the lead, LOL. Seriously though, are you guys waiting for X4?
  2. I wonder how well the multi-core PCs will do in X4? Will MC be the first to venture into the Multi-Core CAD/CAM World?
  3. Good luck on your new adventure and remember knowledge is power!!!
  4. quote: Toby, Having trouble with home email. Can you send it to: newbrendaleshed :at: live :dot: com thanks Bruce You have mail
  5. quote: Depending on what "shadows" there are in the part, then yes it can be done. Flick me an email with the model and I will have a look. Bruce You have mail.
  6. This is actually a question about MCX4. Is it possible to machine an Impeller using only a HAAS 3 Axis VMC with a 4th Axis Rotary Head? I need to know in order to implement the purchase of both a 4th axis and a seat of MCX4 level 3 with solids. I also need to know if there are any special modules or options to purchase to be able to do this. Mainly to make my life easier if you know what I mean. I have seen through reading that there are a few problems with X3 so X4 is worth recommending. If anyone wants a sample file feel free to contact me via email. I can send a STEP or an Iges. This is only a sample and not the model we want to machine, but it is very close. Thanks.
  7. I second the use of NCPLOT. I use it with BOBSCRAP v21, v22 along with Predator Virtual CNC for fairly accurate cycle times. Granted BOBSCRAP/CRAP is extreme LOW END CRAP WEAR, my seat of PVCNC is why I never requested a refund. As a note PVCNC calculates cycle time for Canned Canned Cycles, even peck drilling cycles G73 and G83.
  8. MCGuru, It is difficult enough explaining the difference between TiALN for SS and TiN for Aluminum let alone HSM for both materials. Personally 15,000 RPM at 900 IPM is more my cup of tea. Know what I mean?? We (as a country) have to stand and deliver if we are to compete with OVERSEAS trading. We must drive for success if we are to stay competitive in todays market. Manufacturing built this COUNTRY and it is time we do what made us GREAT!!!!! MANUFACTURE!!!!!! You have a PM MastercamGuru.
  9. I' couldn't agree more. It pains me to see operators change the feeds and speeds lower because they want OT or even worse so they have time to walk around and chat all day. Time is MONEY especially when we are competing with Overseas Companies. Operators are there to CHANGE PARTS and Set-Up Jobs, Not to Change Planned Tooling, Programs, or Machining Methods. All to many times I have selected proper tooling, programmed, and methodized to find some operator changing things around for the worst, not better. You hear "I have 27 years experience and in all my years I have never seen anyone write programs with those extremely high Feeds and Speeds". The Bottom Line is that they are Operators for a Reason. Even a True First Class Machinist knows Machining Economics and will INCREASE FEEDS & SPEEDS according to Tool, Material, Set-Up and what the Machine will handle. I've got Operator from Grumman that cringes at 380 IPM and 8,000 RPM in Aluminum 6061-T6. These are SLOW compared to what you guys do, but it's all the machine will handle using G5.1 Al-Nano HSM. I love watching him get pissed at me. Someday I pray to work in a shop that is 100% automated with Modular Set-Ups and Standardized Tooling in the Magazines. Seems to be the only way to keep Operators from messing with ECONOMICS!!!!!! Rekd you have a great way with words and setting the Operators Straight. STFU, Don't Change Anything, and Just Hit the Button!!!!!!!!!!
  10. BogusMill, I changed the Min Max in the VM to 512mb (Dell Precision M4400). I am assuming that there will not be a significant change in speed, but for SG's I will test it on an Alibre Assembly that is a bit complex in geometry and file size. Thanks for the information. One other question. The PC that I'm on now has 2.5GB in RAM which equals 2560mb. Should I set the VM Min Max to 1024? I see you have other configurations but none with 1/2 a Gig increment. It is presently set at Min 1536mb Max 3072mb. The Ram Sticks are 2GB with a 512. I know I should get another 2GB stick, but waiting a little longer to get one.
  11. From personal experience AMD's are too slow. Bought two identical Lap Tops, same amount of RAM, Graphics, one AMD the other Intel. The Intel model was 3 to 5 times faster than the AMD. Not to mention my other much older Intel p4 with half the RAM and 1/4 the Graphics was faster than the AMD. As an additional note I have switched from ATI FireGL's to Nvidia Quadro FX's for the same reason, too slow. What a way to waste money but the learning experience will last a lifetime. Has anyone tried the New Intel Core i7's yet??
  12. ________________________________________________ Columbo quote: Depends on what type of work........I know in the aerospace industry we are very SLOW....and I am on ling island _________________________________________________ Your in Freeport, As far as I know LI Aerospace is a Roller Coaster in this area. Niche is where it's at here, or deep Roots. You have mail!
  13. WOW!! Sounds like your really driving that PC hard!! I can't wait to see what numbers you end up with. You guys are giving me a first class education on PC building.
  14. Long Island NY area growing rapidly. Seems that there has been a big change in the wind for the last 6 to 8 months.
  15. In one of the Cadalyst articles it mentioned that computer graphics cards have gotten so good that they can now simulate the way clothes look in most environments, textures, and lighting. It doesn't look too good for those high maintenance models anymore. Soon everything will be computer generated and automated. Take a look at the HAAS Automation Milling and Turning Cells. One Robot replaces 2 to 4 Operators. LOL, now that makes more openings for Programmers, I hope.
  16. That will have to go into my second Build. For now the PNY Quadro FX 4600 768MB GDDR3 Workstation Graphics Card is eye candy. That Quadro FX 5800 looks like one Hot Card!!!
  17. BogusMill, COOL BOX!!!!!!! Now all I need is everything else. Dual Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650s' Dual Quadro FX 5600's and 32GB in RAM One FAST WorkStation!!!!!!!! Seriously though a nice system like yours would do just fine. LOL, I dislike waiting for PC's to Process info.
  18. Well, may of us here can plead guilty to everything CAD/CAM related. It isn't a BAD Thing, just how we like to spend our time. Nothing wrong with it IMPO. We get to Build and Create really cool stuff while expanding the mind. Weather it be PC's or Machined Parts, our jobs aren't the same everyday.
  19. NICE CASE!!!!!!!!!!! $210.00 thats not too bad either. Lots of Bays, looks very accommodating. Do you have all the cool lights too???
  20. What about Dust and Dirt??? I have to Vacuum my Desk Top every now and then because it really bugs me. I have seen the DirtBags online but am hesitant because in the back of my mind it seems that it would cause Overheating, plus the USB Ports would be covered. So what do you do about Dust and Dirt??
  21. JParis, Thanks for setting me straight on this and the Bucket. I really don't want to mess with the M4400 because it is way too nice, expensive, and fast as it is. Beats a common Inspiron Notebook. Man that is one NICE PC Build you've got there!!!!!!! Looks like it needs an 8000 BTU AC Unit parked next to it. Speaking for which, Does anyone make a Refrigerated PC Case?????? That might draw a lot of power, but overheating will never be an issue. In the future I would like to Build a Custom PC. Maybe Design everything in Alibre then Machine the Box to accommodate the components. Maybe like a Wind Tunnel of sorts. Thanks for the help guys.
  22. You will have to excuse my ignorance in PC knowledge. OK, I have installed the CPU-Z on the M4400 and while reading the Read Me File there are a few settings that have me confused. Where do you set the settings for the configurations? There seems to be a few Blank or non-hi-lighted information boxes in each TAB. Can the settings be configured to show all the information boxes or are these items not on the PC to read?? BTW: how does one load a pic on this Forum??
  23. LOL, I have you all beat with a Big Goose Egg as far as having any real PC Building experience. All these numbers and overclocking have me a bit puzzled, but sooner or later they will make sense. At least that is the goal
