I ran it setting Mastercam to High Priority and it dropped 20 seconds off the time, but it was still 4:01.

Do you mean High Priority on the Multithreading page?

  2. I updated my home PC to Win11 a couple of weeks ago

I have not had any troubles with Mastercam or any of my other CAD/CAM software

I'll run the benchmark file on it and see if there is any difference between Win10 and 11

  3. This is my work machine

    Win 10

    Its a Boxx Apex 3 i9-11900K

liquid cooled and  OC'd to 5ghz and 128 GB of ram

    2 minutes 41 seconds

This seems a bit faster than some of what I'm seeing, am I calculating this wrong?  I'm seeing 81sec from start to finish?  I see the fella above with a 13900 over 120sec and if I'm going to build these guys what they need I want to make sure I'm comparing things the same.

Make sure you shut MC down and empty your Mastercam TEMP folder between runs.

The regen files are stored there and you will better times on subsequent runs because

Mastercam doesn't have to reproduce them

Also make sure the tolerance is set to .0001 in all the operations

I encounter this on 3 axis programs for an array of a few dozen parts.  I suppose one could put a "point" operation with forced toolchange just before the op to be transformed.

I just make a dummy toolpath that drills a hole in the sky and delete it after ai post.

It's a lame solution for a problem that should have been fixed a decade ago, but it works

  5. Once you've enabled Toolpath Display in System Config, this switch toogles selected toolpaths off and on

When they are selected, the folder icons in the toolpath manager with be a dark yellow, when not selected they will be a pale yellow

  6. OK.. I just did an experiment.

With my purple USB Mastercam Hasp plugged into my machine, I launched Code Expert from the Start menu

    The launch was instantaneous.

Then I pulled the hasp forcing my pc to use my employer's nethasp.

Code Expert launch  was  5 to 6 seconds.

I inserted the IP of our nethasp into the  2024 nethasp.ini file and launched Code Expert again

    There was no change.

I reinstalled my personal USB Hasp and Code Expert was back to an instantaneous launch.

  7. That add-on has ben available for some time,... and the are proud of it  🙂

If you register on the Sandvik site you can download models for free and use their tool assembly capabilities for free as well.

It took me a while to figure out the web based tools assembly utility, but it is worth the trouble if you are doing a lot of work with Capto

assemblies. It will not let you make an incorrect assembly.  This is very helpful building Capto based lathe tools as it's easy to screw up

and order a left hand cutting tool and a right hand adapter.

The difference between free and paid is the ability to import directly into a Mastercam library.

I just down load the individual components as stp file and use them to make holders.

Then I assemble the holders and tools into assemblies with the Edit Assembly feature in the part file Tool Manager.

The log in screen is new.

I was using this last week and the Master and Autodesk options were not there

  8. There are a couple of ways this can happen but if it's been running for a couple of years,

I'm guessing the seat that won't run now was a 1 or 2 year subscription  and it's time is up

Right now I can't even move us up because we need an external post enabler file...and my reseller said it isn't ready yet, sigh...

We've got a half dozen Postability Machine Sim's here.

I've updated several of them to MC2024 with no issues.

I asked Postability about a 2024 Post enabler install and was told it is not necessary.

All of the Machine Sims and Postability posts I've updated so far work properly.

That doesn't necessarily mean your machine sim does not  need a Post Enabler

but I would certainly try updating to 2024

Educational edition (we are an educational facility

That's how you grow your user base

In 1997 I had decided CAD/CAM would be the future and I needed to learn.

There was no internet to do research with and I was using TekSoft/Procad

because that's what our local machine dealer sold me. I had never heard of Mastercam.

The local community college was offering a 2 semester Mastercam program (v5) so I took it.

I think TekSoft/Procad was a better product in 1995 but Mastercam was the only class I could take so I signed up.

  11. Why did you let TS go??

That was a big investment which will eventually die on the vine.

A previous manager let our hyperMIll seat go in 2017 and it continued to run OK.

We recently got a massive package of new parts that I use hyperMill to rough and I convinced

my current manager to get back on maintenance. Open Mind made us a really good deal and

it was well worth the expense as the software has improved a lot over the last 6 releases.

  12. As MC CAD has added more features, I use SW less and less.

I find the Translate by Planes and Translate to Origin especially useful.

We have a skilled Catia designer now who provides us with CAM ready Catia models,

so I rarely do full on modeling anymore. My SW skills are suffering as a result.

Unfortunately all my assemblies using these holders now have to be recreated

save the fixed holder as wireframe to a level

use that wire to revolve a solid and save it as a step file

open a busted holder file and redefine it by picking the new step file

once you have the step file made, it shouldn't take more that a minute to repair

    one of the misbehaving holders

I have those files. 20yr old v9 files. For kicks I opened the 2nd side with the 5x path. it is 39meg with a few hundred paths. The box with access has 2019 installed and crashed when I tried to regen the toolpath so I decided to get back to what I'm trying to finish tonight. Maybe I'll try again later.

Next time you try that file set the chaining tolerance to .008"

    That was his default tolerance.

Default chaining tolerance is .0001" and toolpath and solid chains are failing.
