  1. One point I have found useful, to "simplify" leveling, is to select only three pads/adjusters, to initially level the machine, pick three which make a sensible balance triangle for the machine, then by adjusting only these three points, you can control the tilt in any direction, once these three have got the machine level, then nip the remaining pads, watching/moving the level constantly, to complete the task and remove any twist in larger machines. Also, keep in mind, that larger machines may be constructed of more than one part, for example the column might be bolted to the bed of the table, then the bolts need to be loosened, and the bed and column leveled separately, then bolted back together once leveling is complete. Leveling, is less guessing (how much and where to tweak), if you have two levels, at 90 degrees to each other, and two people, one to watch the levels, and one to tweak the adjusters. If you try to use more than a triangle, you will likely become frustrated at your ongoing lack of achievement.
  2. That seems odd, I use MasterCAMx4, Solidworks 2009, Catia and all work fine with the Logitech MX Revolution, although, I do have the small button just behind the wheel, set as the confirm/enter button. (Windows XP x64) http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/mice_poi...es/130&cl=US,EN I have also used the Logitech G7 mouse with no problems, except this mouse does need it's two batteries, - aboout 8 hours use on a charge, about 4 hours to charge (at quick charge rate).
  3. Just another plug for Logitech. I use Logitech MX Revolution mouse (the buttons are easily programed for the most common functions), a charge only takes about an hour or two, and lasts about 2 to 4 weeks. Space Pilot (3dConnection is a Logitech company) not having my Space Pilot is like not having my left hand. Logitech speakers. Logitech G15 keyboard (with backlit keys)- the LCD display I have got set to display the CPU usage (displays one bar for each of the four dual cores and overall percentage) and also displays memory usage of the 8 Gig installed - This gives me an instant display of how hard I am working the system. I love Logitech products, they work, work well and last for a long time (based on 29 years of CADCAMCNC experience = alot of mouse clicks!). I will pay the extra for Logitech reliability and functionality every time.
  4. I'm using two HP 22" Wide screen LCD's on dual Quadro FX1700 GPU's (both screens on a single card caused intermittent interference on the second display). I thought two screens would have been nice, now I wonder how I ever got by with one screen. My right screen displays the MasterCAM graphics window, the left screen displays all the toolbars, operations manager, level manager, Cimco editor, Excel, Tutorial videos and other supporting software as needed.
  5. A quick search and I am finding Alberti CNC machines, and I wonder if you should be looking for this? Machines made by V.alberti (Vittorio Alberti). A Google for cnc-90+valberti gets 196 hits. A Google for cnc-90+alberti gets 2660 hits. Hope this might help your search - Good luck!
  6. 4130/4140 as aircraft grade material is supplied annealed, ready to be heat treated to its required tensile strength. Having said that, it can also be supplied pre heat treated to a given state, for example F4. Commercial 4130 is normally supplied at about 28RC. obviously the cutting speed is going to depend on how tough(hard) your material is. Bottom line is, to get a good finish, the insert must be working - if you can't go faster, then increase the depth of finish cut - make the insert work - carbides are designed to shear, not cut (generalization) - the wider the flat on the edge - the more of a roughing insert it is. The chips should be coming off blue - if the chips are sparking, then either you're going too fast, the cuts too deep, or the tip is stuffed. For commercial 4130 (28RC) I would recommend 200 sfm roughing 300 sfm finishing for older grade carbides 300 sfm rough 500 sfm finish for newer grad inserts/cermets (titanium carbide) as a good start point, of course rigidity and depth of cut will have a bearing as well. Deeper cut = slower, lighter cut = faster, it's balance to make the tip work and last. If your getting a **** finish, then the tip isn't working hard enough. If rigidity etc. does not allow suit speed feed, change to a finishing grade. If a heavy finish cut causes tapers, program in counter tapers to eliminate the taper.
  7. Assuming the com port settings are matched between machine and computer. It can sometimes be as simple as a missing code at the start (and end) of the program, for example a % (End of rewind symbol) or sometimes a program number which shows on the machine as O1234 requires :1234 on the computer. Until the machine receives the appropriate program header, it doesn't start reading in the code. These are general examples (Fanuc), as I am not familiar with Dyna Myte mills. Here is a link with a program example/explanation and links to other DynaMyte specific forums. http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7651
  8. I'm using silicone fuel tubing, I buy it on Ebay for US$20 +P&P for a 50 foot roll. 6mm is more stable for lateral movement resistance, than the 5mm, due to greater wall thickness. For a pump, I'm using a Nash 3KW liquid ring pump, which produces up to 14.5 PSI of vacuum. It is presently operating on a 3m x 1 m table, for cutting Aluminum honeycomb panel.
