Trevor and myself have both machined many guitar parts. It's alot of work to complete one but well worth it. I have some files I can share if you like. This post should be moved to Wood working.
The part is a flange for a banjo pot. There are .173 holes .375 and .5 with a 10.78 id.
The .5 hole breaks thrue the .375 on each side. All no deeper than .375
We don't have a coolant tank so we have to drill and mill with only air. We are using carbide end mills and HSS drills. The tools are not lasting very long. We make 40 parts a week. Each part has 150 holes and two counters. Should I use a mist coolant or get differant tooling?
This was a program the boss made six years ago and I am now redoing it. We have 10,000rpm on our Fadal.
to do your toolpaths in the way you describe you would have to define a rite angle head for your tool and have a post that would work with the rite angle head.
I have a problem like this sometimes. usually after a rapid move my feed will be 0. It seems to be random I havn't figured it out. I just edit it out.
