  1. Trevor and myself have both machined many guitar parts. It's alot of work to complete one but well worth it. I have some files I can share if you like. This post should be moved to Wood working.
  2. Great advice and yes it's exactaly like gummy alum
  3. The part is a flange for a banjo pot. There are .173 holes .375 and .5 with a 10.78 id. The .5 hole breaks thrue the .375 on each side. All no deeper than .375
  4. We don't have a coolant tank so we have to drill and mill with only air. We are using carbide end mills and HSS drills. The tools are not lasting very long. We make 40 parts a week. Each part has 150 holes and two counters. Should I use a mist coolant or get differant tooling? This was a program the boss made six years ago and I am now redoing it. We have 10,000rpm on our Fadal.
  5. I have only used MasterCam for all my drawings so it's hard to compare but I've drawn some very cool parts and have no complaints.
  6. For surfacing I always use tip. A couple of times I have used center when using wire frame for tool paths.
  7. We use rite angle heads daily. The best I've used is Tecnara . http://www.tecnaratools.com/
  8. to do your toolpaths in the way you describe you would have to define a rite angle head for your tool and have a post that would work with the rite angle head.
  9. I have a problem like this sometimes. usually after a rapid move my feed will be 0. It seems to be random I havn't figured it out. I just edit it out. X SP2
  10. My old dell inspiron 8000 with pentium III 996 MHz 512 sdram and ATI mobility 128 AGP 4X 32 mb, first regeneration 125 seconds. not to bad for an older laptop.
  11. Going back to the thread Trevor started and using leftover-3d collapse.mc9, my old dell inspiron 8000 with pentium III 996 MHz 512 sdram and ATI mobility 128 AGP 4X 32 mb, first regeneration 125 seconds. not to bad for an older laptop.
  12. I used to cut it like alum. 3600rpm 15-20 ipm. using coolant and carbide tools.
  13. I've had it happen to me. In my case it was a graphics problem.
  14. hey gibbs, i downloaded your file and found no problems with your part. there where no bad surfaces or toolpaths. the first three have 68 drive surfaces. the fourth has 4 and the last has 64 . sorry i could not help, but it worked for me. cool part, what is it?
  15. When MasterCam makes one of these we will be set. Sorry to hear about the crash

  17. I have had this happen before but lucky me i also save on our server. I dont think i ever did find out why.
  18. I power-tap and let MC do the feeds and speeds. It works good for me.
