  1. StormWerks, You got mail! Nice job on the program!
  2. I know that there are more people looking at the off topic pages then the "on topic" page. Are my settings too high.
  3. I have mine set to 100000000, and Memory to 95% or 2673mb.
  4. Under settings and configuration in the screen tab there is a spot that says, "Number of entities for dynamic rotation". What value do you have that set at? On the toolpath tab, it says Memory buffering, what value do you have that set to? Is there any settings values that you would recomend? Greg
  5. John Emailed me and told me what the problem is. It was so simple I did't see it.
  6. I turned them into surfaces but my toolpath, but my program violates the surface.
  7. Im not sure what surface normals are, how do you do that? Analyze, Test surface and solids. I check the solids and no errors and when I check the surfaces, I have none. I'm not sure what to do.
  8. John, You got mail, again.
  9. Got it drawn but when to make the program and it is calculating and it says Not Responding at the top of the screen. It's been a while, I think it's toast. Task manager frozen as well. Greg
  10. Yes, I was wondering how you draw the part? I have another part that I am working on and it's worse so I am planning on drawing the profile and revolving it, if that's possible??
  11. Thanks John, In my flow line program I did add lines for start and exit so it wouldn't hit the part, or drag on the part.
  12. I'm still working on making the modifications to the orings, if you want I can send you the originals with the change info?
  13. Bump I figured that I could draw the part in solids and fillet the edges that I need a radius on. If I remember right flowline can cut a part like this, I have only used it a few times, any help would be appreciated. Greg
  14. I have a .563 hole with a ring groove or o-ring that fits in it. The o-ring dia is .723 dia x .175 wide. On the file there is no radius on the edge where they meet. They want me to put a .02 rad on that edge. The other problem is that the the info on the o-ring above is different then the one in the file the info above is a on the fly design change. If I had it as a solid I think I could round the edge but all I have is a file that I drew the new data on but no surfaces, solids or radius is it possible for me to cut that rad? Thanks, Greg
  15. So you mean in the Depth cuts.. tab you don't use Max Rough Step. you just use # Finish cuts and finish step? In either contour or circle mill operations?
  16. Hey, I am using a 4" slot cutter that is .625 wide and I have to make a slot/undercut in a bore the slot that I am cutting is 1.5 wide and I am using circle mill toolpath. I click on my start hight and then take the width of my slot cutter and add that to the start depth. Then click on my Z depth, I add multipass .25, and depth cuts .313, and it keeps messing up on my start hight it is too low. I have to keep messing with it to get it to start at the proper hight. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thanks, Greg
  17. Advent is the way to go. If your planning on machining acme or stub acme threads buy their indexable cutter. If not just use a single point lathe tool and make it work.
  18. That's no problem! We'll just continue when you get it. Thanks Bruce Thanks Ron for you help too, I still have alot of questions though. I have the mutiaxis book but it doesn't really cover this type of part. Greg
  19. What do you mean by: quote: I also like to use 3d toolpath to give me chains to use curve 5 axis to drive the tool. I will then create vector or lines to drive the tool from the walls of the impellers. Do you grab one of the lines at the end of the blade of the impeller and x-form offset and copy it over .5? What 3d toolpath do you use?
  20. The top circle in two steps from straight on you could contour leaving as small of a rad as possible then index your tabel to be parallel to the angle and profile with a sharp end mill and it would take out the small rad. The bottom one you could come from the top with a long endmill depends on the scale of the drawing. Or like Ron said use EDM.
