  1. I am assuming it is my Machine def. that needs work. I think it is generic and hasn't been edited to suit this machine. I will play with it and if I have any questions I will post them here. I have a MC supplier that I can bring in here and show him. Or I could put my file on the FTP site and you could look at it (Zip-to-Go). Greg
  2. All my WCS are set to TOP and my T/C Plane and C Plane are set to the coresponding side. Also my display relative to WCS is off. All my X0 and Y0 are set the same but my Z is set to the top of the part and all the values are the same Z+1.75 does that matter? Greg
  3. Rick, What would the name of the setting be? Kennebec, Thats exactly what I've done but when it post it post A0 and it should be A270, I also have and extra setup other then the 4 "normal" sides. I have two holes on a 20 degree angle (290 degrees) and when I post those programs it gives me A0 as well. Greg
  4. I thought that I had all the sides set up right, but when I post my new back view it should post A270 but it still post A0. I drew some points on the end of my part so I could keep track of the orientation, they all stay to the left of the part. Is there not a switch in the Machine def that would tell MC that I am working with a VMC with a 4th axis. We do this rotation all the time with our HMC, we don't use the top and bottom, use the other sides and it rotates with all the angles, the WCS is in the TOP. Greg
  5. I have done that in the multi axis machining book that MC put out. I have a manifold that is 3.5 dia 6"long and has 7 ports on 3 of the sides, with different diameters and different threads. One side of my part has a flat and screws with bleed holds for the ports. I'm not sure if I can do it with all that info to deal with. My shop has a data base of parts that I machine to. Have you done complicated parts? Greg
  6. I did get it to work I just made it from the top view. I created a point of the part (because it looks symetrical but it's not) so I can tell what way it is orientated. My front view is also right as it is, but my back view is messed up. So I tried it again but it won't create a new view. I go through all the steps but when I check my View Manager it's not there. I did notice that I have a blue check on the view I created for the bottom view, and there is a blue Check on TOP which is my WCS. The only way I see to bring up the new view is to go to: GView/NamedViews, how do you bring up that view? Greg Oh ya Thanks for the help!
  7. No I have never done it that way, how do you get your geometry flat? Greg
  8. It wont line up the arrows the way I need it. The arrows point in the + direction right? One of the problems, (I think) is that the way I get the model. The Top WCS is on the end after I load it. Greg
  9. So your saying if I create a second bottom plane is should index my part properly? Do I create them in the Front and Back views as well? So how do I know what angle they will post out? Greg
  10. I created a new veiw and got hole on the right side of the center line, but when I post it changed the angle from A0 to A180. It makes sense because I used rotate planes and rotated it 180 but it was in the Z axis and my rotary rotates along the X axis. Thanks god for Cimco edit and the function replace all. Greg
  11. Is there not a setting that will change how it references the G-views to one another? Greg
  12. Ok but this is my problem, when I click top view and look at my part there is a hole running through my part length wise, and it is offset to the top of my screen. When I click bottom view the same hole stays offset to the top of my screen, it should be offset to the bottom of my screen....right? MC is not rotating my part but it is fliping it on the Y axis. I can't get it to flip or rotate in my X. Thanks, Greg
  13. If you were machining a part in a VMC with a 4th axis, and your part had 4 or more sides to machine how would you set up MC? Thanks, Greg
  14. Can anyone give me a hand with this topic? I rotary is not posting the proper angles, it will do some sides of my part right but others it post out A0 for everything. Basically I need to index to a side and do the work using one workoffset. I have 4 sides and one extra angle for some holes at a 250 deg angle. Your help is much appreciated! Greg
  15. It asks for a value in either X Y or Z, what value do I use there? Greg
  16. I just posted so that the topic would be put back on top and I so I might get more input on my question. Greg
  17. What do you mean by "angle I entered" and "rotate y+ only"? I haven't seen that. Greg
  18. My WCS is top for all programs and my T/C plane is what the G-view is for that side. Greg
  19. I wasn't able to find that line in the post or the title "pheader". Greg
  20. Hi, Thanks for the replys, I changed my Misc Int 9 to 1 and it solved my offset problem. Now I am working on my rotation problem. I am using a verticle machine and it has a 4th axis on the left side of the machine. My WCS is my Top and A0 my Bottom posts as A180 and my Front Posts as A90 and my Back posts as A0, and that is where the problem is. Colin I'll give your suggestion a try, give me afew minutes and I'll let you know how it went. I'll start with editing the post. Greg
  21. I did a search for MI variable in the post and nothing came up. What does MI stand for? I have a MPMaster post. All of my views have the same offset (-1). It's quitting time I will be back tomorrow morning. Thanks, Greg
  22. I also noticed that it is giving me a different offset for that side and when I check my View Manager they are the same. (edited)In fact I am getting a different offset for all the sides, how do I get them to be the same? Greg
  23. No all my WCS are in the Top plane and my T-plane and in the coresponding G-view's. When I brought in my model I had to rotate it, and I am using Top, Bottom, Front and Back. Do I need to use Right and Left to get the right angle? I mean does MC use for example Top A0, Front A90, Bottom A180 and Back A270. Greg
  24. Hi, I am using my 4th axis to make a part with 4 sides, nothing special there but when I post the top view, I post it on its own it won't put the A0 in the program. Also when I group post opperations from other sides it calls it A0(top) and it calls what should be A90 A0, it's my back view. Any ideas what might be the problem. Thanks, Greg
  25. Sorry, I mean for your lettering. Greg
