  1. I think Jay has a valid solution and I'm working on that just don't know when it will happen. Jay, along with almost all the other resellers here don't make anything by helping me. Eastech here in Louisville has been great but sometimes it's just better to post questions or problems here on the forum where more people can benfit. Many resellers beside our own have gone out of there way to help us. It's going to take more then just a few of us to let CNC to know what we want. >F2, Setdir, and a larger Autocurser.< Carl
  2. Matthew, don't give up on MCX yet, if you use it all time you get better at making sure most everything goes to the right place. Thanks for your support on this James, I value your input in making this forum so great and I'm sure CNC does too. You have taught more to us here on the forum then you will ever know. Carl
  3. I don't want it gone I want it bigger and to have a larger snap zone then the 9 pixels it seams to use now. Carl
  4. Doesn't if you don't have one. Try telling the boss he needs to spend $400 because CNC took something away from us. I don't think so. Would like to have a spaceball though. Carl
  5. Thad, I was talking about using F1 in autocad. I hit F1 at least once every time I use autocad because in mastercam I think it is faster then the wheel for pinpointing in on an area making a slection then F2 out to previous view. Then repeating those task till everything has been selected. With F2 the way it is now in MCX I find myself punching F2 many times and then having to use the wheel to get zoomed out far enough to locate the next area of to be zoomed. I agree with you 100% on this issue, F2 should be previous view and not .8 Carl
  6. Doesn't matter how much you zoom the curser stays the same size. Small Carl
  7. This is another thread I feel we need to bring back. The curser and the visual clues are too small. Sometimes getting the curser to snap on your pick is like trying to thread a needle, you have to try several times before you get it. Carl
  8. (F2F2F2F2F2wheel) That's slow! I spent many years training my left hand to use F1 and F2. I even try to use them to zoom every time I use autocad (doesn't work) because the wheel is too slow. Give us back the old F2 Carl
  9. This thread had died the day I first started it. Thanks for bringing it back Gmenzies. I have to agree with Steve Zirtzman's posting in Thad's "I want my F2 back" thread: -------------------------------------------------If we really want this feature back, everyone on the Forum needs to let QC know with an email! ------------------------------------------------- I know for a fact that CNC reads this forum and will respond to our needs if they know what they are. Here on the forum is a good place to do that. Keep these threads alive. Setdir was a real timesaver to us. Carl
  10. I still want my setdir chook back! Sometimes the project directory works and sometimes it don't. It's not a very good replacement for the flawless chook that we had. Carl Hessig CNC programmer Nypro Kentucky
  11. They told us the same thing a couple of months ago. We have a 5 yr. old makino snc64 and have been using mastercam sense V7 and we cut hard steel and graphite in it and don't have a problem. Five yrs. ago they were singing Unigraphics only. We don't have Cimco-Hsm but have seen a demo on it, nice product. I also hear mr1 will have some new high speed toolpaths in it. When machine tool builders tell you what software they think is best ask if they had to pay for it. Makino and Cam-tool are both in Japan! Makino has great support but they are only 2 hours away. If you look on Cam-tool website you will not find the support that Mastercam has. Anyway Mastercam and Makino are a good matchup. Thats coming from a shop that runs one 80+ hrs. a week. Carl
  12. It's there and nothing in help to explain it. Carl
  13. If you are bringing in files from another system you might look to see what the tol. it was output at. We have a makino snc64 and hurco cnc's and the point to point code is the same only difference is the speed at which we cut. Finish is good in either machine. If you set your filter tol. too large trying to get a smaller program you will not get good results. Carl
  14. Thanks Thad that works. Also I programed enter on my mouse thumb button and that works same as apply when creating ruled surfaces but when creating fence you do have to use the white cross apply button to keep fence comand active. Carl
  15. It's not just fence surfaces ruled surfaces have the same flaw. It would be nice if comands would stay active or even a simple mouse click or enter would activate last comand. Carl
  16. I've been using the little light blue button. Have it set to project directory. Have the same problem that Matt has, change file type that your trying to open and you got to go searching again. I sure do miss my setdir chook because that little blue button just does not work right for me. Carl
  17. Have you ever hit save and have mastercam crash and erease everything but the file name. I have and now we backup to external hard drives every night. Storage space is so cheap these days. Our wire seat is seperate from our mill seats and its not good to have two people working in same file at the same time. I like to save original file, steel file, electrode file, and wire file. Carl
  18. Have the same problem minimize and I end up with a 2" tall graphics screen. Also I have two monitors and they are different sizes so when I drag X from one to the other the toolbar gets messed up. Carl
  19. I like it but find it a little hard to see. An option to resize it would help and maybe a tab key dare I say (like what is in autocad) where you can cycle through possible choices. Carl
  20. printer icon > page setup >turn color off in options > green check > print. If you want your part in color you have to change your graphics background to white and then leave color option checked when you print. Carl
  21. When you read a Mc9 file into X it brings in the filter settings with it. Carl
  22. That would be nice make you fill a little more at home instead of just visting. If you can find where they hid the icons you might be able to edit them in paint. It worked for chooks in 8 & 9
  23. I have save thumbnail checked in both 9 & X Wouldn't think that should make a difference. Should have said toolpath operations. The nc code post out the same in both no diference in size. Checked system tolerances both set the same Carl
  24. Tried ram saver no change in file size. There are 3302 surfaces in this file no solids and just the needed boundries to creat toolpaths. No extra edge curves and no duplicates. I have noticed that files with toolpaths grow more then those without. I deleted all the toolpaths and saved 11.1Mb in Mc9 and 11.3 in x. So most of the increase is in the toolpath. Carl
