  1. I have already tried the compatability wizard, but thanks for the suggestion. I have also changed several of the settings on the video card with no luck. It's only a minor nuisance.
  2. I agree. Out of curiosity what version of windows are you using? I'm in windows xp professional.
  3. I have the same problem. I have a P4 processor with a wildcat card and v9 sp1
  4. I can tell you that a full blown Mill level 3would cost you approximately the same as Work nc, but sounds like you might only need level 1 or 2(don't know costs). I've not used Work Nc, from what I hear its a very good program but it is strictly a cam system. Mastercam is also a very good cam system with the added benefit of 3d cad. With your local Mastercam dealer and the use of this forum you can't beat the service you will get from Mastercam. Very quick responses to your questions on this forum. I have never had any problems importing files from Pro-e, Catia, Solid Works, or Inventor into Mastercam.

    Error

Program compatability wizard did not help. I can do a 3d analyze but can't do a 2d analyze. I can create a pocket toolpath but can't create a contour toolpath. I'm downloading latest drivers now.

    Error

What I was trying to analyze was geometry(lines) that I had created. I have also tried analyzing geometry from the original part with same results. I believe the problem to be some setting or something in windows that I'm missing but I'm not sure. Thanks for the help.

    Error

Thanks for all the help thus far. I left early Friday so I'm looking at all the replies now. One file I'm looking at was created in pro-e and imported from iges, the other was created in solid works and imported from parasolid. This morning I put the Mcam key on my old computer system and was able to open the file and work with it with no problems. I then copied the cfg file from the old system to the new one, opened the file back up and still have the same error message. Old computer is running Windows 2000 professional new computer is running Window xp Pro??? Put lines, splines, arcs and surfaces on different levels. Didn't help

    Error

There is no toolpaths in the file. I'm getting the error when trying to anylize a contour. Because of what the error is I attempter to create a simple 2d contour path and it did give me the same error. This file has approx. 12000 lines 12000 arcs 48 splines 18000 trimmed surfaces in it. I ran ram saver and decreased the file from 34 meg to 25 meg but still have the problem.

    Error

Error allocating memory for toolpath function. When I load a file that is 25 meg(tried 2 different files and get the same error) or so I get this error when trying to analyze a contour. I also get it if I attempt to create a toolpath of any kind. 1 gig ram. allocations are 16000, 32000, 64000, 128000, 256000. I've tried increasing and decreasing these numbers with no luck. Windows xp professional, wildcat vp870 video card, Mill 9.0 sp1 solids.
  10. I'm using the wildcat VP870 card and its functioning flawlessly so far.
  11. I have a Dell 2.8 gighz, 1 gig ram, windows xp pro, with a wildcat vp 870 video card. It's very fast, no problems with the video card.
  12. I would suggest the 3 day class that MLC Cad in Ft. Worth offers. This will teach the basics. After this class I was designing and producing cutter paths. I also bought the book called Mastercam Version 7 from Scholars International. You might also look at the Mastercam Handbook I've heard its good. I Can't tell you anything about the CD training.
  13. Just wanted to say thanks for the help in choosing a system. I have had my new computer system for a couple of weeks now. Dell 8200, 1 gig ram, 2.8 gighz speed, 3dlabs vp870, (3 dlabs no longer makes the Wildcat II 5110 card) Windows xp professional. This system has been functioning flawlessly.
  14. Check out solidview http://www.solidview.com/. It will open UG files will not open Mcam files, very nice viewing program.
  15. I build large complex blow molds and generally start the rough cut before I have finished programming the finish cuts.
  16. I'll be running on a Haas Machine. Thanks Rob, just what I was looking for.
  17. Does anyone have a copy of the Harley Davidson Emblem that they would be willing to share that I could open and cut in Mastercam.
  18. MLC CAD Systems is my dealer. They have been very helpful with any problems I have had. Contact Bryan Johnson or Jeff White. Phone 972-621-2221
  19. My allocation settings are, 4000, 8000, 16000, 200000, 256000. The only thing running on my Mastercam computer is Mastercam. I shut down every afternoon and restart the computer every morning. 40 gig hardrive with 27 gig free. The regen folder had 17 meg in it( I deleted these files). The file is shaded. I unshaded and when reshading it is taking several minutes to reshade. I know the problem is in the 12 coons surfaces tthat I created and I can likely rebuild these surfaces and fix the slowdown problems I am seeing, I believe I need to add more lines to get the coons surface to flow better. So long as I turn the level off with the 12 coons surfaces everything works fine( there is a total of 929 surfaces in this file), Although when I turn the level back on it takes several minutes to regenerate the surfaces. Thanks for all the help
  20. If you want to e-mail me your e-mail address. I will send you a file to try and help you out on coons chaining. My e-mail is [email protected]
  21. I work for a company named Today's Plastics. I design and create cutter paths for blow molds, some injection molds (I have most of the injection work done outside). I design molds up to about 6 ft in length and 40" wide. My existing system: Dell 700 mhz, 512 ram, oxygen gvx1 32 mb video card has been bogging down quite a bit lately. The file I'm working on right now is approximately 7 meg (no cutter paths yet) it takes about 10 minutes to load the file. It took 15 minutes to rotate the part 180 deg.. I know that the problem is in some coons surfaces I created ( 12 coons nurbs surfaces with a tolerance of .0005). If I erase these surfaces everything works fine on this particular file. A lot of the files I work with are very large in size. A lot of engraving and such.
  22. I've been reading this forum for sometime but this is my first post. I've been using Mastercam since version 7 (currently using v9), I'm about to buy a new system. I'm looking at a Dell dimension with a P4, 2.8 ghz with 533 mhz bus, 1GB memory, 40 gig hard drive. I'm looking at 2 different 3d labs cards: Wildcat VP870 or the Wildcat II 5110 128mb agp Pro 50. The question is which card is the better card for running Mastercam? Would I be better off going to a Dell workstation with the xeon processor?
