  1. Thanks for the advice on the check disk. Its been along time since I've used any dos commands.
  2. I guess I failed to mention MCX2 software.
  3. The problem has been resolved by running a repair on the .net2 framework install. All versions of Mastercam is back up and running. Thanks,
  4. Murlin, What are you talking about. chkdsk/f
  5. Is there any difference in the downloaded software than the software on the cd. The cd says it is a different version and I need to uninstall before using the cd?
  6. Ray, I'm run Window XP Professional. Are you saying to go into the control panel then select the Mastercam Icon out of the control panel? I don't see a Register button Anywhere.
  7. Tried a different sim and still no luck.
  8. Maintenance is up and have moved the usb dongle to a different port just to check it out.
  9. I tried running the repair utility from Mastercam and got an Error 1904.Module C:Windowssystem32mcdescr.dll failed to register. HRESULT-2147010895. contact your support personnel. I opted to continue this repair and got the same message with the mcdescr.dll changing several times. Is this a corrupt registry issue on the harddrive?
  10. I programmed a lathe job and posted the program, when posting it came up with a warning couldn't find MP DLL. The program went ahead and posted but wasn't correct. I closed out of Mastercam X2 then tried to open MCX2 up and got the message: C:McamX2mastercam.exe This application has failed because the application configuration is incorrect. Tried opening McamXmr2 and it wouldn't open. Tried opening MC9.1 and get a warning: cannot load c:windowssystem32mclstctl.ocx. Rebooted the computer and still getting same messages. Any ideas as to what is wrong?
  11. Thanks David. Got the tool created and programmed. I was over looking the custom tool tab for some reason.
  12. Is there a way to create and use custom tools in X2 Lathe? I know how to this in Mill but can't seem to do it in Lathe.
  13. Last time I used this method was in version 9. It never timed out so long as you were not trying to use the seat that wasn't switched on. Used Mastercam this way for 2 years.
  14. You can also hook the hasp on an AB Switch, you can only be working on one computer at a time but you can have mastercam open on one computer switch the ab switch and work on second computer with mastercam still open on the first. You just can't do any Mastercam work on the first computer until you swap the AB Switch back. This way keeps you from having to move the hasp back and forth a lot. This method works with V9 I would assume it will work with X also.
  15. I run what I program now. My old job I programmed the jobs and the tool maker set them up and ran them. I could go out and see them running anytime I wanted.
  16. Mine is always on by default also, I like it that way. _________________________________________________ open a operation, select library tool and put a check or remove the check from the filter box, would this work? _________________________________________________ I've tried this and it will not stick when you make this change.
  17. We used OSG Shrink fit and Er collets at my previous place of employment. Shrink fit gives a lot better tool life and much better finishes. We built our own shrink fit changer. $100 dollars for industrial heat gun from Grainger. Rest of it was built from stuff laying around the shop. Took about 2 minutes to heat the holder up enough to change tools.
  18. Learn something new everyday. I had never used the alt-tab before.
  19. Gradient horizontal #99 and #52
  20. This actually in the end of some small shafts. I am no longer in the injection mold industry. I went to work for Borg Warner in Sallisaw, OK and am now doing prototype work for the automotive industry, quite a change from mold work. I've been here since the end of May and am liking it. The work is easier, especially the Mastercam programming mostly 2d work. I still do contract work for the company I quit, both design and programming. I found a company that could burn the threads and get them back to us in the time needed and yes we are paying extra for the quick delivery. Thanks for the help.
  21. I've done quite a bit of thread milling in the past the problem is at 60Rc it questionable rather or not a thread mill can do it and with the depth of thread I would have to relieve the shank of the thread mill for clearance. Osg believes you could probably get 2 holes/mill with their thread mills. I'm trying to find a local source to burn these but not having a lot of luck so far.
  22. I need to tap 4 holes in 1050 steel hardened to 60RC. Its a left hand M8x1-6H has to go 22mm deep and is a thru hole. The job has to be done by the 9/20, does anyone have a source to get taps or thread mills overnight to do this job? I am also looking into having this burned in. Thanks,
  23. Are you working in mill or lathe? Which version of Mastercam are you using. In Mill I will generally use a 2D contour path to cut a groove. I create a point at the top and center of the bore. When selecting geometry I select the point first then select the contour for the undercut. On the contours parameter page check the lead in lead out box then open the tab for lead in and out and check use entry and exit point. You can set the line length and arc length to zero or a percentage small enough not to overcut the groove. The tool will center on the bore to enter and exit the cut. Be sure your retract height and clearance height is set at a height above the top of the bore.
  24. I have Mastercam set up in inch units and need to tap some M6 x 1 holes in converting this I come up with 25.4 Threads/inch. I'm set up at 25 inches per minute 650 rpm is this correct?
