  1. Thanks for all of the input.
  2. We have no choice but to do everything in the soft state. The plates will go back to the customer soft. Should we be spot drilling the holes instead of Center drilling them?
  3. We have the same problem on a haas vf2, so far the service techs have not been able to fix the problem, which usually occurs at machine start up. The last Tech that was in here said to unplug the air line from the machine and plug it back in while the machine is trying to find high gear. This works on our machine.
  4. I'm about to be drilling & reaming about 500 holes in A2, the blocks have not been hardened yet and are 1.0" thick. All of the holes are thru holes the tolerances are +.001 and -0.000 . Hole sizes are .125 , .188, .199 Questions: 1) What kind of drill bit, what speeds and feeds, peck or no peck? 2) What kind of reamer (carbide or hss), speeds and feeds? 3) How many holes can I drill before needing to replace the drill and reamers?
  5. Who is it on this site that builds custom tool bits? We are in need of a custom 4 lead acme tap and I'm trying to find a source. Thanks, Craig
  6. Would you just make one pass or multi passes? The length of cut on this thread mill is .639, how deep do I go with it?
  7. I'm new to threadmilling. I done a search on threadmilling and read all I could find. I've just purchased a OSG exocarb 42000 .370-18 npt thread mill to mill some 1/4-18 npt and 3/8-18 npt holes in H13 50RC. I need some speeds and feeds for this? Do I need to taper the holes before running the thread mill? What is the minor and major diameters for 1/4npt and 3/8npt?
  8. Thanks JG it is just what I was looking for. I've only been using solidworks for a short while and still learning it. Could you tell me why all of the wire frame geometry showin up as imported geometry?
  9. Thanks JG I'll take a look as soon as I get a chance. I appreciate the help.
  10. Yes it is I will make an xt file out of it and send it again.
  11. Sorry about that I added Fan Blade1 to the mc9 folder. Hardmill, I am trying to attach the round part to the blade with a good smooth transition you can see what I want in the mc9 file. I converted the mc9 file to solidworks but would like to know how to do it in solidworks. I will email the zipped file to you. Thanks
  12. I need some help on a design called Fan Blade.zip in the mc9 folder. I was able to complete the part in mastercam but can not do it in solidworks. If anyone has the time to take a look at it in solidworks I would sure appreciate it. Both the Mc9 file and the sldprt file is in the zip file. Thanks
  13. Check out http://www.solidview.com/overview.html this software will do everything you are wanting for about $1500. It is a good viewing software.
  14. Thanks for the replies. I have no idea if the machine is strictly 2 axis or not. I will take a look at that post in the morning then send a file to the customer and see if it works or not. Thanks
  15. Does anyone use an Millpower Accurite CNC? If so can you tell me which post will come closest to giving me good code for this machine. I have to create a program for this machine and have no information on it. Can't even get a sample program from the customer
  16. Right now we have one that is fairly simple 1 + 1 (2 parts one cavity of each). No slides, it will have some sleeves, core pins and at least one insert(maybe 2). Fairly simple parting lines. I do want complete designs with 3d and dimensioned 2d electronic files, and parts list.
  17. I am looking for someone to do some injection mold design work for us. We are getting behind and need to look at sending some of our design work outside? I would prefer that the designs be done in Solidworks (We use Solidworks for design and Mastercam for Programming). Anyone that would be interested in doing this for us can reply here or email me. Thanks, Craig
  18. Thanks, for the input. I'm usually the first one to get here in the mornings and found out when everyone else arrived that we had lightning strike yesterday, I took the day off yesterday. Took out one computer and apparently the mastercam hasp. Already have a new one ordered it will be here tomorrow, in the meantime our reseller is lending a hasp to us, he should be by in a couple of hours with it. Thanks for the help
  19. I got to work this morning and tried to open mastercam v9.1 and got the Hasp not found error. Opened the hasp9.exe and it shows hasp not found also. Everything was working fine 2 days ago. Is there a way to check the hasp out to see if it has gone bad? I've already checked it on a different computer and get the same results. Thanks
  20. What do most of you guys have your setting 85 set at? If using highfeed in mastercam then do you change the setting to a larger number? We have a Haas VF2 and we build injection molds. Setting 85 is set at .0003. Right now I'm not using the Highfeed option but I have in the past.
  21. Haas VF2 with a 10000 rpm spindle. This program is small enough to fit on the machine. I went to the parallel finish cut and did get a much better finish on the 3rd insert.
  22. Thanks for the help. Yes there is a reason, we don't generally do it this way. We have a very short turn around on this mold. The toolmaker believes it is possible to heat treat these inserts and have very little warpage in them, so we are taking a chance. We do have plenty of grind stock and can still cut the cavities deeper if it becomes necessary after heat treat. I would still be curious to see what kind of speeds and feeds you would be using on these parts. I'm relatively new to the injection mold industry(been with PolyTech Molding for about 5 months now.). My background is in aluminum blow molds.
