  1. I would like to see the HST use arc moves instead of all line moves, I also want to see the backplot and verify rapid move like the machines really do move. So instead of a strait line to the next point, instead for it to show the dog leg moves like the machine really does. Also, an easier customization for lead in lead out (Like angles) and overlap.
  2. Yea, I originally posted a question about a post for a Dynapath before I even checked to see if Mastercam comes with a post for it already. Then what do you know there is already one there. Does anybody have any comments on how well it works?
  3. I went to Advent for the first time we had to do threadmilling. It was a 5.5" 4 stub acme thread. It worked great. If you want a good threading calculator I found ME ThreadPal to be a decent product. It saved soo much time over calculating those one off thread sizes.
  4. Yea, with the Haas you have to have a strait line move greater than the radius to turn on cutter comp. The nice part about cutter comp wear is you leave the diameters in the machine zeroed. So if you need to comp out .004 then the machine will at least only have to do a .002 move to get comp working. It beats the hell out of the regular cutter comp because it's really easy to do small holes.
  5. As far as I know there is many things that those machines can't do without getting a new post. I think that because the head move you can't use normal canned cycles at angles. So yea it would need to be custom made to the machine.
  6. It still feels to me like Mastercam is the program that is really lagging behind. You can have all the bells and whistles you want but it still doesn't use all of the processing power of the computer. So it seems to me like in the end, it's a waste of money to buy a really high end machine.
  7. Black lab Have you ever thrown the trunnion up before?
  8. I am trying to figure out how to use it. There is a ton of information there. How can I use this in a way that will benefit me in Mastercam. It looks like W is your step-over amount. AeMax is your maximum radial engagement. I have never used this method before and I am willing to try it. But, I want some more knowledge on what to look for when using trochoidal tool paths.
  9. I would like it to work with hst. I want to try and minimize the tool buring itself into a corner.
  10. Any help explaining this to me would be greatly appreciated.
  11. quote: LOL @ Bullet Bob....How about this one? - Hey Bob, You get that because Nortons is one of the worst computer protection program I've ever come across. It doesn't protect your computer any better than free programs and hogs way more of your system resorces. I reformatted my hard drive one time and installed nothing but Nortons. I got online and found myself a little nasty spyware. I ran a full system scan and it said that everything was alright. I installed Spybot and it found it almost immediately. Every time I see friends using Nortons I can't help but laugh at them. The only reason that they are soo widely used is because they have a good marketing campaign.
  12. How do I program in so I can minimize the burial of the tool. Example, if I have a .500 cutter and an interior pocket corner radius of .250. How can I tell Mastercam to not bury the cutter in that corner but make a .375 radius so I can do a second op with a smaller tool and walk around it.
  13. Yea, Mastercam really isn't a video card hog. If you have anything better than Intel video card then you should be set.
  14. In your machine definitions manager you can assign the type of axis your machine is capable of running. I created a whole new definition by doing the SAVE AS feature and naming it Haas 3X. Hope that helped.
  15. I have to agree with evil for once. I have the same exact motherboard in my home gaming computer. It rocks. Running 12gb ram and 3X Geforce250s in SLI. It rocks.
  16. I just talked to my reseller. He said that I buy a post from Inhouse that would be tied into Moduleworks. Has anybody else done this? Is it worth the money to buy a post from Inhouse? I just want to have the peace of mind when I go to cut the actual part, the machine will behave in the same way that the simulator did.
  17. So I'm very new to the 5 axis trunnion world. I'm working on a part that only really needs 4x but the trunnion is all that I have. I verified my program on the simulator and my part goes to A-20. B0.0 and then commences to cut. When I post for real the is comes out A20. B180 and then starts to cut. I think I'm starting to realize that the Generic Haas 5x post makes it so the trunnion doesn't like doing negative A axis moves. I don't mind it doing that but there are a few problems. First, how do I stop if from doing that encase I have a part that cannot be swung at 90 Degrees. The second question, how do I update my simulator so it is using the post I'm actually using to run the machine so i can verify exactly what is happening? Any help would be very much appreciated.
  18. Don't worry about it. I've never gotten the parts to import properly anyways. I've had parts that imported looking like someone folded them in half like a sandwich. Not worth your time as of yet.
  19. I was wondering how do I change the post for the MachSim program. I tried to change it to the post to the one I'm actually using and the simulation stopped working. What do I have to change to get this to simulate correctly?
  20. Is this still the case or has something changed recently? I e-mailed Mike with no results.
  21. Cuttercomp Wear will help to solve this problem also. Although you do have to be careful. Under your diameter offsets in your controller the tool diameter has to be set to zero. Mastercam will compensate for the tool dia and put in a g41 g42 to compensate if needed. It's really a nice feature because Mastercam will write the code to curve around all sharp corners and you can still adjust in any direction needed. This also comes in handy when your doing internal bores because you do not need as much lead in to turn cutter comp on. The big thing I have to stress is if your going to use wear make sure everybody in your shop know your going to use it and keep all your diameters zeroed out. Otherwise you are going to get some funky parts.
  22. Its my first attempt at using our 5 axis trunnion. The part I'm making is only 4 axis but that not really the point. I tried to upload the file in the ftp and I just can't figure it out the way you guys say it should work. I verified my program on the simulator and noticed a few weird moves. First, how do I keep my part oriented in the current plane when it goes to a tool change? Second, I noticed a few lines of code that were weird quote: T4 M6 N1720 G0 G54 G90 X2.4607 Y2.5875 B0. Lastly, If all that I'm doing is angles, how do I make my A&B axis orient before anything moves in the Z? It would just be the way the verify program works but I want to make sure.
  23. I am trying to put up a file on the ftp site. It says to click and drag the file I want right onto the screen and drop it in there. Every time i do that it wants to open the file like it's downloading it. What am I missing here. I'm using Mozilla does that make a difference?
