Oh weebie...... not that I care about my post count, but after 3 or 4 post my count hasn't moved. I'm stuck on 114... just trying to get my post count and member number to match. Must be some problem!
Paul,
Sent you an email. Never worked there just hung out on occasion. The button industry was big, a lot of people had small machines in their garage, porch etc and used to core shells part time for extra money. There were mountains of clam shells everywhere. Plastic was really the down fall of the pearl button industry. Too bad, the feel of a pearl button compaired to plastic is just something you have to experience.
Schmarje tool..... oh the memories. The first time I saw a CNC. I was just a pup and the brother of one of my friends was working nites there.... paper tape fed, 10-12 tools overhead, they were doing secondary operations on castings. Muscatine Iowa, a stones throw from the Missippi river.... I heard that they now make the thread mills. Some day I'm going to stop in and see how things have changed.
Check out the Milltronics machines, they have good iron and controler. web page
We bought three VM-15's and have been happy with support and operation.
oh.... I got to keep my mouth shut on this one. I'll take my CIB, Silver Stars, Bronze Stars, and 4 Purple Hearts pinned to my Comunist hating liberal chest and shut my mouth!!!!!!
Nah!
Anyone of draft age during the 60's-70's knows the story.... lots of people went to the Guard and Reserves to escape combat. The Guard/Reserves were flooded with applications only the luck or "connected" few gainied admission after a while. Was G.W. one of those "connected few"? I wouldn't doubt it. As for the records and record keeping..... well let's just say there were a lot of people AWOL in both the Guard and Reserves... too much paper work and a hassel to fill out, so everyone got paid and officially "served their tour" AWOL or not. You youngsters had to be there to understand the mentality of the Vietnam era... a lot of things have changed. Bush is not being honest.
Move to Iowa, our DOT may not be the best at getting the stuff off the roads... but everyone learns to drive through or on top of the snow. Heck it can snow here just about any month of the year! Maybe a few tornadoes too, January 1967 there were 23 tornadoes one day.... unusual in the winter but still happened. Expecting 3" of snow this afternoon-evening, followed by 5-7 tomorrow, and a couple more Monday night into Tuesday morning. I'm actually looking forward to the snow. Cold black/gray/brown ground isn't too pretty. The snow adds a little beauty and adds moisture to our parched soil... the eventual mud is a lot better than dust and it'll put some water back into the lakes and rivers for spring fishing!
Making the snow blower earn its keep!
Kubotek Corp. of Japan is acquiring the assets, including the software line, of Cadkey Corp., Marlborough, Mass. The software developer
recently sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
I've been AWOL for a few days.... looks like I missed some stuff. This seems like a very presumptious request.... I'd never expect a site to change to suite my needs... What a selfish request. Perhaps if he had started a poll to get the active members input before charging forward all could have been avoided!!
Thanks, no grudges here. I'll try to figure out some kind of virtual bonus. Right now I relocating my office to our just completed building. Of course lots of things not working or completed as designed. If I could figure out how to attach an image I send some pictures... but there are bigger fish to fry right now.
well Mr. Millman not sure why you have chosen to chew my tail, but my personal views are pretty close to yours. I work with lots of peole that have never applied their skills in "real world". I don't measure a mans knowledge by the degree he/she holds. I have spent years "in the real world", you judge me superficially....... I did not and have not judged you. Why you choose to give me attitude is a mystery to me, it seems to be based on what I do for a living... I have not tried to offend... but me thinks you have tried to offend me... why? If you think my question was off base, not realistic, stupid... you can choose not to reply....
Nail trick.........
First select nails with full heads. Select a nail with a smooth head surface that is fully formed and lightly nail vertically into a block of wood. For the remaining nails.... lay 1 nail flat on a table with head toward the east. Take other nails and lay at 90 degrees on top of first nail with head of nail "just" beyond the shaft of the first nail.... alternate head toward N head toward S from one end of the first nail until you run out of nails or space on the shaft of the original nail. I like to leave a small gap in the middle of the array to help when the nails are place on the vertical nail. (in any case it helps to use an even number of nails in the N/S array.... balance) The final nail is placed with the head in the opposite direction of the first... in this case head toward the West. With a little practice you should be able to fit the top nail between the heads of the N/S facing nails and griping the ends of the first nail and last nail gently pick up all the nails. The nails in the array may need to be gently shaken so the heads slid toward the shafts of two E/W nails.... the top nail will lock the nails in place and you can now set the whole mess on the head of the vertical nail,,,,,,,
Sorry I offended so many.... this wasn't about anything but solving a puzzle...... Thought it could be fun.... was the puzzle impracticle, yep... but then again all the bent nail, ring and string puzzles fall into the same catagory.. me I just like solving puzzles
