  1. I machined a shallow round dish, using a Dia 10mm x2.5mm rad cutter using the radial method. What happend is the tool gouged and only gave me the correct form shape in th centre along x axis.I cut another one same method with a 10 ball job was good.So my question is can't MC do this type of tool path with a bull cutter??????It was like it did not take into acount the trailing edge of the tool. thx in advance
  2. I clicked onto your link but then i was asked for a user name and pass word on the ftp site???????
  3. Create surface nextmenu primitive extrude, worked great thanks for the reply
  4. i had a look at your job and i sugest you try and get a better surface before you try machine it.The surface you have is very rinkly. If you analze surfaces test norms it shows your surface as being a bad surface. When you go to machine it try a suface finish flow line.
  5. Trevor your idea worked a treat thx heaps for the quick reply.Got me out of the sh#t at work. This forum can save a lot of time and its great that people are so willing to help thx to everyone.
  6. The surfaces is also a bad surface when i analyze the surface norms. i will give your suggestion a go thx
  7. Hi everyone, I need some advice on draft surface, i have a rectangle with small fillets in the four corners. When i create a draft surface of 3 degress outward the fillets in the corners dont go all the way around. So there are gaps in the surface between the straight edges and the fillets.
  8. Has anyone had the problem of creating letters in a wcs, that is not standard. The z height is set to zero but it is created at the world z origin, which can be a long way away from where u you wont it.You wont know untill you rotate it and it disappers into outer space. Also with sqaushing im having trouble getting geometry to sqaush to a wcs z zero, not world.
  9. I did not think of that thx Hardmill. But i dont see why the tool travells on the surface to get from one erea to the other. Surely the tool should retract to the absolute retract height?
  10. Hi everyone, I have uploaded a file on the FTP site under mcam v9 folder called ELEC#3.It's a simple pencil pass but i can't get the tool to retract high enough and the tool gouges when lifting from one pass to the other i have an absolute retract set what am i doing wrong. thanks in advance
  11. There is always more than one way to skin a cat,As CadCam said, also you could have a program that calls your main program then do a datum shift and call main program again do another datum shift and call main program again. You could even transform your geometry in mcam and create a program to machine all 3 parts in position. lets us know wich way you go
  12. Interesting that use ISO for your Heid,I use Heid controllers and i like to output my programs in Heid convisational.I downloadded the Heid conv post from mastercam web sight and did minner changes to get exactly what i wanted. I find Heid conv programes to be much easier to edit on controller if needed, you can put in cycles(datum shifts, drilling, pocket cycles,),edit tools, and block form for test run. Love my Heid controllers
  13. GO to your toolpath operation page right click, toolpaths, import nci file.If you saved the nci file when you created the toothpaths before you lost them you can get them back this way.
  14. Just a thought have you got the clearance height box ticket,if so this will make the tool retract to this height.Uncheck this box, and have retract height set to incremental.Hope this help I come from a land down under
  15. It is best to edit the program in mastercam(cimco editor) As you surely found out you can edit the feed on the controller but it has to be edited on every feed line. You can't find and replace on these controllers.
  16. Also have a look at Remove3 it might be a bit clearer for you hope i helped I come from aland down under
  17. I have done what u want to do and put it on the ftp site,MC8,Remove2.mc8. you just needed to extend the solid past the solid your trying to cut.
  18. I dont use constant scallop on steep areas.I prefer a surface contour pass and then a shallow for flatter(0-35 deg) ereas. If your walls are 90 deg,a scollop pass is not a good option.
  19. I have to put surfcam files into mastercam. From our customer what format would you suggest i recieve the files ie,IGES? Thanks in advance
  20. I use these controlers all day everyday but i live in Australia so a phone call might not be the best thing.Willing to help with what you need though.
  21. When you have the file open, save some and select some of the solids as a different file name.Break your file up to more than one file so there is less info per file and it will load quicker.Leave the large file saved as origanal name that way you will have the origanal file with all your solids, and other smaller files wich can be different ereas of your total job.
  22. Is the cutter to big for the hole to move in?You will need to have a lead in and out,so the cutter comp will work on machine. Are you using wear or comp in control?
  23. If you are making a tapered cutter to machine the hole, you can just drill it and there is no need for a surface. You could rough out the hole pre drilling with a surface rough pocket toolpath of your surface.Try true spiral this works realy weel on round pockets.
