  1. I've read threads about this but cant seem to find what I need to get me started. I've got it installed ok. Can someone please tell me where in the mcam configuration that I need to assign the .set file. If there is some quick reference or tutorial on it, I'd love to see it. On Active Reports, it seems to me that its a lot more complicated than Setup+. Is this the general opinion of folks here? I'd like to hear from people that really like it and can tell me about advantages of it to Setup+.
  2. Is there a way to have a machine spindle nose displayed on top of the holder.....for those reeeel close encounters with tombstones, etc?
  3. Ratts!! Thats a bummer because the place that I'm at likes to have the programs with Control in the comp. **I'm working on changing that. The operators like to get thier hands in the programming waaay too often.
  4. How do I create a Stock Model (from something that has been cut in Verify) that can be used in a later verify session without ever making an STL file?? I've been reading through threads that discuss how to have stock models (throughout your Operations Manager) after an operation but without ever having to create an STL file and I cannot figure it out. I'm running X6 MU1. Does Verify let you create a Stock Model somehow instead of an STL file? I only see how to create an STL and then have the stock model reference that STL file. According to posts that I've read, there is no need to create any STL file anymore in Verify. Is this correct? I know how to create the stock model so that it shows up in Operations Manager. Then I go into the parameters for that Stock Model, where the options are to select the Initial Stock Shape....one option is Stock Model and the other is an STL file (which I supposedly dont need to use). The Stock Model option only references existing stock models that are in the Operations Manager. So...I'm missing something and its driving me crazy.
  5. I get te error "OptiRest is not supported with negative stock adjustments larger than the tool corner radius when a single stock model operation is selected. All I did was go from a Undefined (custom file) tool to a Flatmill thats slightly larger (.750dia from .625dia). I'm green to HST. I'm not seeing where the adjustments need to be made. Maybe a Bullmill?
  6. Thats what I'm talkin about!! You just saved me hours of 'click-read-watch-adjust...repeat'. Thanks Carmen!
  7. Crazy. If you were to name the 5 most common HSM toolpaths that you use, what would they be? What are a few noteable considerations that, in your opinion, is critical for me to understand for each. At this time the feeling that I'm getting is for 2D HST that the Dynamic Area Mill and Peel Mill is pretty popular and would be a logical starting point for me to get familiar with the HSM lingo. For Surface HST, I've heard talk of Area Clearance and Core Roughing mostly for roughing. I don't recall what Surface HST Finishing toolpaths are common favorites. Waterline maybe? I'm just trying to make an informed beginning into the world of HSM.....rather than just picking the first one and hoping that I dont end up wishing that I would have started somewhere else. Time is kinda valuable right now.
  8. My reseller. Ok...I'll call him. He gets to work in 40minutes. I was hoping for some kind of advise from your own personal experience with mastercam. Oh well..
  9. Guys. I have been using the old 'stuff' and I need to learn the new 'stuff' as you put it. I'm not hearing about any learning materials that are available. How about something like this: "if you're new to HSM, the best place/toolpath to start learning at is.........." I know that some toolpaths are used more than others as a rule. I need to start there. Problem is I don't know which 'ones' you guys are talking about. Really need some help here... Thanks for any advise!! D
  10. Thanks Branou101. I'm still new at the place I'm at. All of the insert cutters that I've seen are Kennemetal. I'm planning on roughing the slot part way down then drilling out the xs with a 1.5"dia insert drill. I'd like to try a few different toolpaths in mcam just to see what they're like. I could really use some tuts on the more popular HSM toolpaths and best preactices.
  11. 18 year programmer is finally getting into HEM. I've been reading about it here and it looks like the 2D Dynamic toolpaths are where I need to start. Can you HEM pros recommend some good tutorial resources that will school me on chip thinning, HSM, HFM...all that good stuff? I'm going to be cutting 4330M steel thats annealed to 33RC max. **See pics. One pic shows the stock and the other two show the slot after machining. I thinking a 5/8 or 3/4 Hanita Varimill to do most of the work. I've seen chip breaker end mills here too. Do these work well for this sort of thing?
  12. Ahhh....found it. Not in the config....its on my maind tool bar.
  13. Thanks Gcode! Where are the Verisurf preferences settings?
  14. I look in configuration but cant see what controls this:
  15. I get this a lot: One or all of your search keywords were below 4 characters or you searched for words which are not allowed, such as 'html', 'img', etc, please increase the length of these search keywords or choose different keywords. My last search was for: Setup X+ I cant see what I'm doing wrong...
  16. I forgot to mention: 90,000PSI waterjet.
  17. The VP is asking about WJ for saving some machine time. Does anyone know approx IPM numbers for waterjet cutting for differrent thicknesses? We're doing 3" and 4" thick blocks of 4330M at <33HRC ( <152KSI ). Thx.
  18. Thanks Colin. It turns out that the "output arc moves for helixes" being checked (on the Rough/Finish page of Cut Parameters) prevents the time displaying in Backplot. Wierd.... Good to hear from you Colin. D
  19. can please I get a copy of the ISCAR XLS file too?

  20. Is there a way to see the run time for Helix Bore toolpath?
  21. Thanks Robert! I wonder if I can get this to work into my right-mouse button drop down....
  22. I forgot how to see what operations are linked to a particular geometry. Can someone please 'splain to me how to select, say a line, and then have the operation associated to that line light up in the operations manager?
  23. Sorry for the lack of details.... Mat'l is 4330M annealed. HRC 33 max. I'm looking for suppliers of HSS-Co coated...TiCN or TAILN. I've been away for a couple years and I'm thinking that there is a few new 'favorites' among the programming community. Niaraga, SGS, Hanita is where I'm leaning right now. Does anyone like the powdered metal roughers?
