  1. "Hope Raiders will not stop the game and have their sennior citisen record celebration at mid of the field like last time they did." LOL I couldn't believe they actually did that...sad. Scottyb.
  2. Right on Paul, Those 2 coaches cost us everything. Favre has a competetive burn inside him that will never go out. I just hope he does know when to say when (in a few years). Looking forward to next year already. Less injuries, 2 coaching moves and 1 or 2 player changes and we're off. A radio station asked which players were flops...Grandpa Nickerson won with a landslide. One thing about injuries, at least you get to see what some young guys are made of (Anderson, Fisher...) Gotta get back to work now. Later ScottyB.
  3. Hey Toolfab, It's good to see another Cheesehead on the board. Like many others, I was in total disbelief and denial Sat. night. The team was in good spirits the last couple days though, and it sounds like some veterans are going to make a sacrafice and come back next year. You didn't really think #4 was done, did you? Maybe if the Pack could have seen SanFran's come back they could have been inspired to do the same. OR NOT. Now that I have faced reality I guess I am looking forward to a duel between the Jets and Raiders. I HATE Tampa and the Eagle luck will run out. It is the KISS OF DEATH to start McNabb. I am addicted to football, but how do I get Taglibue's job. That guy has got to go. I am having a minor surgery Friday and I have been instructed to rest ALL weekend. YEAH BABY. Nothing but a couch, my new TV and a few beers to ease the pain. I couldn't have planned it better. My hats off to Jets fans, you have one heck of a kid at the controls. God I love football. Did I see a post from a Cowboys fan??...I feel so sorry for you man. The big Tuna is only one piece to that very large, messed up puzzle they've got. Good topic, or Off topic. Later, ScottyB.
  4. Thanks Heeler, I notice are 3 or 4 current topics discussing this now. It must be a well hidden feature. Later, ScottyB.
  5. Thanks Jim, that helped. Maybe I should have started with a different question. I know that on a lot of new machines (like our Weeke) you have a tool library with say 100 tools loaded and when you write a program you pick a tool, tell the machine it's in the toolchanger and away you go. It seems MC is set up to accomodate this modern method. Which is great. BUT On our old Heian, we have an 8 position ATC and we can't tell the machine which tools are in the changer. Therefore, in the past I have left HI use tools in positions 1-4 and swapped the tools I need into 5-8 as needed. I would then write the program and assigned T5, T6, T7 or T8 to do the job. I would set Cutter Comp. at the controller and basically the machine didn't know or care which tool was doing the work as long as T(5) was in. I realize we may have to change some old habits, so I'm wondering how you guys and gals configured MC to work with your older methods. I hope this wasn't too confusing. I just want to make programs somewhat generic and do the tool set up in the shop. I really am not trying to be difficult. On the new machines, I keep the program smart and the Operator dumb, but on the old machines it is necessary to keep the program generic and the Operator smart. Thanks, ScottyB. HAPPY NEW YEAR.
  6. I have Router8.1. I had earlier versions configured as Tl = H1, D11; T2= H2, D12; T3= H3, D13... I had to do this to work around the limitations of our controller. I can't seem to find the config. screen for this. Any suggestions? I would save me edit time in the program. Thanks ScottyB
  7. Happy Turkey day to all!! Could the NFL have picked any worse teams to watch while I sit with my turkey and beer? No offense to the above mentioned Lions and Pats fans but come on!! Oh...I'll be watching...but come on!! ScottyB.
  8. How can I get the Cimco editor from my office PC to the relay PC by the controller. I have Router v8.1. I was told this is possible, but I just don't see it. I want to be able to keep the SIM on my office computer and use the relay PC to send programs to the controller via RS232. Thanks and have a great Holiday!!!!!!!!!! ScottyB.
  9. "Snow, Ice Storms, Mosquitos..." Hey Andrew, it sounds like you've been to WI. Around here $100k to $200k will get you a real nice, new or almost new 3bd/2ba home. $200k-$300k will get you almost everything you want. $300k+...now your just bragging. I love visiting CO and AZ, but I'll stay here. In WI we have Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and DEER SEASON (which starts in 18 hours). Any hunters out there? Have fun...be safe...bag the big one! ScottyB.
  10. Cad-Cam, Quote:"What version of MC do you have? Some versions have Rast-Vect built in." How was I wrong in this statement? Since Cam Master didn't state which version he had, I was only implying that if he had v8 he may have the capabilities he was looking for. Since he is a new user he may in fact have a new version. ScottyB.
  11. What version of MC do you have? Some versions have Rast-Vect built in. If nothing else, maybe you could email the image to someone here that could convert it for you, then send back the .dxf. I'd offer, but I'm just figuring out the R-to-V myself. Someone here could give you a better image than I. Good Luck.
  12. Hi all. I have posted a few times, but am fairly new to the forum. I recieved a (very) little bit of formal training back on v5. I now have v8 and am waiting for Router v9. I want to focus on getting back to the future as far as CAD/CAM is concerned. Can anyone suggest some coarses that have been helpful. I do all MC and WoodWop programming for a large cabinet shop in WI. I do 2d work on simple to complex parts with Heian CNC and Weeke PTP. I have used MC to get the job done for 6 yrs. but I feel there are better ways to get things done nowdays. Our reseller is Shopware and I am entitled to 1 day of training with my purchase. I have gone to enough classes to know that it takes more than 1 day to learn today's software. Any suggestions? ScottyB. Any NFL fans out there? GO PACK GO LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW.
  13. How are you guys and gals getting your files to your controller? For many years I have had an old computer out by the controller so I could transfer files, with Procomm Plus, from the network to the Fanuc controller via RS232. Recently I put a new computer out there and didn't have Procomm Plus to install on it. I hoped that PCanywhere could do the job, but that doesn't look promising. It's ironic that we hope to have a machine last 10-20 years but when it does you have to find a way to link modern software with stone age controllers. I love my job. I love my job. I love my job. ScottyB. Maybe I'm just bitter 'cuz our UNbreakable quartback seams to have been broken. GO PACK GO.
  14. Ok, I've answered my own question. But I get an error when trying to run the post processor. "Line number 1 invalid" Where do I start to trouble shoot this. It worked fine for my v5.5. ScottyB
  15. Someone please explain how to convert a .pst or.txt post from v5.5 to my new MC8 Router. The tutorial doesn't word it in my language, which is English. Thanks, ScottyB
  16. I'm sorry, the geometry is in .bmp format. Thanks
  17. If you'll recall, I'm the guy who has been using v5.5 since 1996. I finally got with the times and am the proud owner of MC8. This brings me to my first question: I ordered Router v9 from Shopware and received MC v8.1. Is V9 not availible yet? Can I expect an upgrade soon? Question 2: My first order of business is to get familiar with the raster to vector feature in MC8, which I am happy to finally have. I need to scan some drawings of mouldings into autocad to put them into a catalog. Can anyone give me suggestions on which resolution I should try. I have tried 300-400 dpi but when the drawing comes into MC8 it is not clear enough to use for a catalog. It seems the higher the res., the worse the graphic. Any hints as to how to clean up the geometry? Question 3: 1 day of training was included with my purchase. Any suggestions on how to use that one valuable day. I'm just getting my feet wet with this so I'll experiment a bit. ScottyB.
  18. Thanks for the replies. I am looking at Router (the second level). Raster-Vector is standard. I will ask some more questions to our supplier. I got a bit confused between the 2 packages. Thanks to you guys, I am getting it all straight now. Thanks
  19. What is the difference? I was about to buy MC Mill level 1 v.9 when I realized it isn't the same as the Router v.9 brochure I was looking at. Keep in mind that I am upgrading from dinosaur MC v5.5 to the new world. I only use MC for simple routes in solid wood and 1 pc MDF doors. Everything difficult and detailed gets done on other software and machine. I am interested in raster-vector. Can anyone let me know the difference so I don't kick myself a month from now when my software won't post to my Heian. Thanks ScottyB.
  20. I am looking for testimonials on the Raster-Vector feature that is with v9. I may be ordering v9 and I am wonder if it's the R-V I'm looking for. I use a cheap R-V package now and I, well, I got what I paid for. I want to expand on what I can get from the scanner to the machine. I'm not doing anything crazy, just some 2D graphics and Logos and such. Any feedback would be appreciated to make me feel good about the purchase. I am familiar with the toolpathing and normal features so, that's not an issue. I was considering Corel draw until I saw the v9 info. Hopefully this 1 purchase will take the place of 2. Thanks, ScottyB.
  21. I am about to load v5.5 on a new computer with w2000. What complications can I expect and how do I get around them. Before you rip on me for being 6 yrs. behind technology, let me say this: We have a 6 yr old Heian and v5.5 is all I needed. Any Hi-tech parts are run on my new Weeke. V5.5 has been a little primative, but it got the job done. I have v6.0, but I stopped using it because the features didn't seem new, just re-arranged. Besides, Mastercam has not contacted me even once in the last 6 yrs. about an update and Stiles Machine stopped supporting MC a few yrs ago. With that all being said, can you give me any pointers or, what the heck, just send me the newest version at NC and everything will be fine. Trust me, I'm really not behind in technology, I'm just behind in this situation. ScottyB. GO PACK GO!
  22. Matthew, I have MC on my office computer and do all my programming there. I then transfer my completed program to the network (this gives the operators access only to completed jobs). I then have an old computer sitting by the machine with PCanywhere and Word on it (that's about it!). The operator sends the required job to the Heian using PCanywhere. If I need to edit G-Code, I just open the job in Word and make the changes. If major changes are needed, I have to do it in my office, but 98% of edits are just minor. I also have email capabilities at the old computer so I can email schedule changes or special notes to the operators. This, along with good communication with the operators, has worked well for many years. I had to find a way to avoid running up stairs and about 200 yards everytime I needed a program!! Have fun.
