  1. If you want me to take a look at the post, e-mail me and I will help you. It s neat litlle way of doing it (please include post and text file)
  2. Rigid tap does just that, it syncronizes that spped and feed (No way around it I found). The alternative is to modify the post to out G84 (tap) / G86 (bore) but really using the floating tapping head - I modify it by using a different canned cyle option but achive the result I want.
  3. Using Incremental with the new tpcfg.dll for critical depths. I tried both absolute and / incremental. In cremental the depth should be -.75, -1, -1.25 deep, instead they are -.655714, -.9166667, -1.166667 deep (repectively)
  4. ftp://mastercam:[email protected]/Ma..._depths_wow.mc9 Using mastercam and surface rough pocket (and critical depths)... It does not machine the floor of the critical unless I leave drive surfaces stock to leave at "zero" and keep my critical depths to zero. If I have drive surfaces to "zero" and my critcal depth of .01 then it machines .01 above the floor. How do I machine the floor to correct depth but not the walls? I have looked at MANY MANY threads on this topic, but no one seems to have any answer other than lie to the cutter diameter. (Now what about restmill ??) This hasn't been addressed with any late issues since 2002 and Mastercam 9 and newer -- come on One of the article talked about Gibbs having .... In Gibbs they have three values for roughing; surface stock, pocket stock, and island stock. This way I can specify 0 surface stock, and .020 pocket and island stock which will finish the floors but stay .020 away from all walls. What really is the solution.... This is killing the guys here...Especially plastics
  5. You could modify your post to use the misc 1 / misc 2 options as to use a floating tapping head option. We do that alot depending on operator, we use G84 (tap in/min) or G84.1 (tap in/rev). In this case you are really tapping / boring with a diffrent feedrate than spindle RPM
  6. unfotrunately , I can't... I have a proprietary c-hook written to Mastercam looking for the hasp. I was told that it would cost "$$$" to have the c-hook re-written for th USB key instead. Not to mention the $200 replacement fe from Mastercam.
  7. I am running Mastercam 9.1 sp2 and a "CPU", with a "hasp" module. If I take the hasp off to put it on my new laptop... (oops.. no parallel port). I then bought one of the USB to parallel cables but Mastercam with not recognize the hasp ( Hasp not Found). Now If I buy a new laptop with a "docking station", does anyone have any recommendations? I was told to stay away from Sony laptops and the "docking stations" because the docking station is plugged in through a "USB" port. This will cause the conflict again of the white hasp.
  8. hello: using Mastercam 9.1 sp2 and the cimco editor. I know that the editor comes in color for the different "X / Y / Z / A" ouput varibles. The question I have is how doy you get it to print in colco I am using an HP Deskjet 3820 (color). I t only prints in black and white... Is there a setting I am missing... I have gone through the options in the printer software but didn't see any thing. Any help ... Thanks, and havea Happy ST. Patricks Day. Chris Parish
  9. Any help is greatly appreciated... That to all on this thread Before I get started to review this in the morning ... It's time for a Beer

  11. mill man: They have 13 posts needed for all machines (mill / lathe / wire). I have to teach them to run a fanuc lathe post this way (icons for canned cycles) Mplokuma can run the canned cycles the same way... Now if they want to run live tooling, use mplosp7c... Now if they want canned cycle and live tooling ... One must clean up the post for canned cycles thru icons and live tooling is a total re-write (from one of the okuma posts) --- Take it a step further they have 2 turrets on the same machine (top and bottom -- now I have to add logic from a third post ((mplfan)) that has this logic. This sure seems like a lot of work When Gibbs, Espirit and (edgecam - no out of it) have post developed with pretty clean output of g-code. I am just looking for someone that I'm sure has done this -- Why re-invent the wheel As for the thermwood, I wish I knew you then... We have many customers running MCAM and a thermwood (wood / ceramic/ plastic ... etc)... Thermwood even has a post division inside of them for MCAM and thermwood -- Or Bill Elliot (Northwood Design)is a GOD when it comes to MCAM and thermwood post processors
  12. I do agree ... It's a lot of work for a cnc lathe that is out there all over the place Okuma just bought into "DELCAM" for the E-100 L and the "U" series controls to have the graphical interface done by them to help aid in writing a conversational format at the control.... I just got back froma tool show where they were illustarting it on a simulatyor control. However, it doesn't look very good that (I'm sure other other CAM softwares have a cleaned up post for an okuma) but Mastercam doesn't ... I believe were all in this together to help each other out but this is rediculous that it doesn't exist What's "MATSS" product going to look like when it is released from Mastercam - a product with no post to support it
  13. Yes that is correct...but no canned cyle output... It does it through the misc. integers like old school days of Mastercam lathe.. Now rewrite it from mplosp7c and add canned cycles from mploukma -- Mastercam outta get that cleaned them selves... (if it's the captains mess let him clean it up)
  14. jay: Very familiar with the dynapath.. grew up on it. No way to stop the chip conveyor, if you do ... absolutely an alarm. As for the Dynapath 20 "M00 / M01" please give me a call... We were distributors for tree machines until Excel Machine bought them out and tree is no longer... We have contacts for Tree (Now MAS), and also at autocon (dynapath control mfg's)for control issues.
  15. Mill man: I have ben writing post for Mastercam for 8 years with Optipro systems as a reseller. okuma canned cycles aren't even close to that of an fanuc canned cycle... However.. I must have it activate top turret, bottom turret, live tooling (one has this on both spindles). Unfortunately, Mastercam has nothing to offer in this department. How is that possible... It not like Okuma develped live tooling lathes just yesterday. Now I would have to take a fanuc post, rip out the fanuc canned cycles, add the okuma canned cycles into it and then hope the live tooling portion is close (knowing the okuma does not use G107 / G112) options for live tooling. Not only that but you have a "g-code" callup as to what turret you are defining for an okuma. Why re-invent the wheel when someone has been looked into this before. Just looking for some guidance.... Thanks
  16. Hello: We are a Mastercam reseller(Western New York). I have asked CNC software about this post ... It is approximately around $3000 (800 - 1000 per axis). On the CD is a fanuc lathe with live tooling for lathe but the okuma post only has 2 axis with canned cycle support (No live tooling) If any one has one that works. We are will to purchase it. This (potential)customer has 4 other Okuma lathes as well (even one with a steady rest). Otherwise we will lose the sale to "Gibbs" (smiling Bill). Thanks for listening
  17. Hello: I have a new compaq computer running windows XP Professional. It has an intel graphics card with P4 technology. The mouse is very slow in Mastercam but not in any other program... I have already played with the accerartor rate for the graphics. Also I looked for any link using "compaq" or "slow mouse". Can someone help with this?? Thanks
  18. Hello: We are a Mastercam reseller and have a tool show coming up at the end of September. I know there are many parts of the FTP site but I don't want to make anyone mad by stealing a drawing and cutting it at a tool how. Does anyone have some cool parts for cutting a Mold or 3-D job?? We will even give acknowledgement to them at the show (sign showing company or something). Thanks
  19. Has anyone written the lathe misc. ops into a post. Is it easy / hard ?? Partly, I guess you must understand it and then understand what the customer is asking for. I've written quite a few posts for our customers, but according to CNC software, there is only a few posts that have ever been writen for this and each one is customer specific.
  20. Has any one really been using the misc ops features such as the steady rest and tail stock capabilities? I also have a part that does the main spindle then th sub spindle comes in and hold onto the part, Not the main spindle parts it off, the sub spindle then retracts, and then goes into the parts catcher?? Is Mastercam capablie of doing this or do I have to wait until the "MATSS" product because the of the two spindle turning simultaneously as it is being cut off? Any help would be appreciated.... Thanks.
  21. Redk: During the install, it says writing to C:temp........etc I look into the temp directory before and after the install -- no files present at all
  22. Talking to CNC software , there has been many issues. Unfortunately, being a tech rep for OPtipro, this is starting to be a real bitch With Mastercam v9.1 and NT The other 3 computers in the training room were fixed with the "msvcrt.dll" fix for NT4.0 Unfortunately... One completely crashed the hard drive Now doing onsite installs.. I am having several issues with NT
  23. Using Mastercam NT 4.0 servicepack 6(a). I can not install V9.1 on 2 out of 5 of my machines. This is what I get.. The following did not register 1) C:tempSFgd823.rraTLisd823.rra specified module could not be found 2) C:tempsfg57f2.rraMCEx5860.rra specified module could not be found To Continue click OK, otherwise click CAncel OK Cancel I look in the C:temp directory but there are not files there listed in that directory. Now that I click on Mastercam v9.1, it starts to boot up... then just about as the license agreement is to show, (along with the icons). I get Mill9.exe error All the Windows 2000 computers installed fine.. Please help.
  24. Actually from the FTP site. You can download the converter for Mastercam 9.0 or 9.0 SP1 to have a direct conversion of soliworkds (*.sldprt) to Mastercam. Once installed run it as a "c-hook"
  25. The knurl tool (.5 in)is wider than the width (.375 in)on the od of the part. It is also a straight knurl (not diamond ) Thanks for the response
