  1. Thanks Allan, n_tap_thds worked.
  2. Good Day, I was recently asked to make this mod to the post for a Bostomatic BD40. The tapping cycle is a little different on this machine(pretty old) Im trying to find the variable for the number of threads . I would like to try to extract it directly from the tool instead of having to put in a feed rate all the time. eg if its a 10-32 tap then feed rate would be P32. If I need to speak to my dealer I understand. I have seen questions like this asked before on the forum Without flames. But if I am flamed for this I'll understand. Can any one help me with this one? BTW, post is still from version 7 era. Hope to hear from someone. Chris D.
  3. I seem to remember at the last Mcam users seminar, one of the guys that was showing this feature was saying that if you have a Haas or one of the older style fanuc zero controls that don't exactly rapid from point A to point B in a straight line always keep it on Full Vertical Retract or Minimum Vertical Retract. NEVER on Minimum Distance. Am I remembering correctly?
  4. Good Morning, I was wondering if anyone out there has been using this feature constantly in MCX. I haven't tried it with the HAAS yet. I'm just wondering if I don't have any high speed machining centers (other than our Haas), is there any point to using it? Am I better off just using the regular surface rough pocket and so on. Any feedback appreciated. Chris DiNardo L-D Tool and Die Mcam V10 MR2
  5. Thanks guys, But deleted the temp folder and it seemed to work. Sorry, I'm running V9.
  6. Good Morning, We had a problem programming an electrode this morning and I tried ram saver function. and now I can't even backplot or create a tool path without the error coming up. Any suggestions? Thanks Chris DiNardo
  7. Thanks Allan, I know what i need to to do now. Hows it going BTW? Chris.
  8. Good Morning, We are looking for a laptop, to put our MCX on. Everywhere I've looked, its all Pentium -M- inside notebooks now. I think I will insist on Pentium 4. But If we can save some money..... well you know the rest. Is there anybody out there using the Pentium -M- chip? For Mcam? PS. I know there is probably threads that I can be referred to but if anybody can give me their experience---good or bad i'd appreciate it. Thanks. 9. Good Morning, I have never asked this before and its never been an issue until this morning. I was working on a cavity plate with a finish scallop toolpath, and I noticed that the ballnose cutter had rounded the top edges of the seal off near the moulding area. Usually what has been done before is a surface will be created from the top solid face and translated up .005 to .010 and then when the tool path is made, that top surface is added as drive surface so that the tool will still roll over the translated surface but will miss the top face by .005 to .010. I failed to do this. I have been looking for a way to eliminate this step but ca't seem to stop the tool from rolling around the top. Am I missing something? TIA
  10. Good Morning. I have been merging some patterns into a file to see the assembly of a mould, and when I try to change the color or level, it won't do it. In V9 you also had the option of importing a file and choosing not delete the original,In V10 I did not see this option. Is there anything else I can try? TIA
  11. Well............Now I can't wait!!!
  12. I was just curious to know if they had started anything yet. After seeing the GIBBS version of it, I was hoping that MC was working on one. Although we don't need it here in a mould shop, it would be interesting to see BTW.
  13. Good Morning, I was wondering if Mastercam was working on a module for Multi-Task Machining, with synchronization and etc....? Chris
  14. Good Afternoon, IN Version 10.... I was told that negative stock could be programmed on surface when using a flat cutter. I've tried this but the truth is it takes forever and 9 times out of 10, the system will freeze on me. Is there a quick fix for this a patch maybe in the works? Or am I just better off giving the tool a small rad. TIA ChrisD
  15. Good Morning, I have tried to create curves on all edges of a solid but when I go to select the solid it just doesn't highlight or anything. it just won't allow me to do it. Any thoughts?
  16. Good morning, I modified the MILL2.set file to minimize the output on screen. I did not touch the preadbuf or pwritebuf routines. But when I have a big file with some surfacing in it, when I post the setup sheet it gives me an error saying that (BUFFER 1 IS TOO SMALL). Is there a variable in the .set file that I can change the buffer size with? It would be nice to have the proper min z depth on the screen. version 9.1 windows xp TIA Chris DiNardo
  17. Thanks Guys, worth a try anyway.
  18. Good Morning, We have an old Boston Digital BD40 machine with the BDC 4000 controls. I've been trying to figure out the GCODE for machine home (eg. on most modern machines it's G91 G28 Y0.) Does anyone have experience with this control and machine? If so, and if you know the proper code could you give it to me? TIA Chris Dinardo
  19. Good Morning.. We are wondering what has happened to our ability to compare a machined solid to an stl solid in turbo verify mode. It will run through it okay and when you select "Machined" and then select "STL File", both of them show up okay. but when you select compare .. it just doesn't do anything it leaves the machined part up on screen. Any ideas? TIA Chris DiNardo 3 seats LVL 3 mill 9.1 w/solids MR0105
  20. Good morning, We have been using the shallow and flats feature in the Surface Finish Contour aka(SFC) tool paths. We have three seats of level three with solids. On two of the computers in the SFC Finish Contour Parameters page there are three buttons : Helix (greyed out usually), Shallow, and Flats. On the one computer that we have only Helix and Shallow.... no Flats button. Is there a patch that we may be missing for this? We tried reinstalling the software but to no success. Any ideas? Thanks Chris D.
