  1. I'm sorry to bother you guys with something so simple, but I was looking through some posts and just comparing and I posted a file for Okuma mill, which we have, and one for a HAAS mill which we don't have. I see in the HAAS post it uses I and J in the radius. I have seen these before, but unfortunately have never had the oppurtunity to use them. Upon comparing the two I really couldn't figure out where these I and J numbers were comming from. Could someone clue me in.
  2. I guess its worth a try. Wanted to stay away from that but if there is nothing out there then I guess I have no choice. Thanks.
  3. Ah yes that would work.Had thought of that. But unfortunately I need to turn with it. I guess I should have mentioned that. Not sure if that trick would be rigid enough. Cutting stainless and it needs to reach 4.75"deep. Guess I should have mentioned that too. The part is basically a hollowed out sphere with a hole through the center.
  4. Okay, sorry to yell guys but as usual I have to make a part and they will not buy me the tooling I need to do it productively. Difference is this time I cannot find a tool anywhere. Maybe you guys can help me. I need an Internal grooving tool with an inch, yes 1" of overhang and no bigger than a 3" shank. Would prefer no smaller than a 3" shank also. Any ideas guys? Without having one made.
  5. Okay, can someone give me some insight as to how to go about machining this lexan to get the best possible finish off the machine. Such as tooling and speeds and feeds.
  6. Awesome guys! THANKS a million!!
  7. Again, what type of polishing media.
  8. What type of polishing materials do you use Mikevinw? We happen to have a polishing department.
  9. Aluminum Wally? Looking for something translucent or close to it.
  10. Money isn't really on object here. Just need something that will stay clear. Its a part our sales department desperately wants.
  11. looking for something that I could get in say a 9" DIA and about 4.5" thick.
  12. Looking for a material that can be turned and milled and still be translucent. Anything?
  13. So we decided to spring for the maintainence on Mastercam. My reseller has emailed me the update code for our HASP. Did not work. Now it is telling me that my HASP is uninitialized. What happened?
  14. At my company........ machinist(entry level) $8 to $10 machinist/progarammer/set-up/MC9.1 $13 to $15 Machine Shop supervisor that doesn't know how to set-up, operate or program or MC9.1 $20 to $25
  15. FINALLY!!!! After a year of asking for a CMM, I have finally gotten the approval to buy one!!! It only took us machining parts we could not check and having them rejected by the customer.
  16. The hole will get polished manually after machining. Just trying to cut down on the manual polishing time.
  17. Anyone know what I can use or do to get a good finish in a 1" angled hole with an interrupted cut at both the start and finish of the hole?Tolerance isn't all that critical say +/- .050. Thanks in advance. By the way 316L SS.
  18. I recently purchased a new vehicle. This after I got my license back after 6 years with out it. And wouldn't it be my luck that 4 days after I buy this vehicle, I get T-Boned!!!! And now 2 weeks later with my vehicle back from the body shop I find that they did a terrible job on my vehicle. body lines don't match, paint job isn't great, parts weren't replaced that we supposed to be replaced, screws missing. All in all just not happy with the workmanship. And thats just it; WORKMANSHIP! No craftsmanship here! And now I start the journey of bickering with the insurance company, the adjuster, the body shop. And the try to mustar up the courage to let the body shop touch my jeep again!
  19. I'll give it a try in the morning. I'll let you know. Thanks a bunch Harry.
  20. I have a part that gets numerous holes in it. In each hole there is three tools required along with some mill work. Each hole is identical. The only difference is the location of the hole. This changes from part to part but the hole detail is still the same. I would like to use a Mazatrol program to call up AN EIA/ISO subprogram to do these holes and be able to tell it in the mazatrol program to move it to a said diameter and a said angle in the C-axis. I can send you a sample part if you'd like.
  21. Hello! Was hopin you could help me with something. I have this program that I wrote in Mazatrol and it is pretty much the same program just rotated around the part at differnt diameters. I am trying to redo this program to make it easier to edit. The basic part pretty much stays the same the only difference is the location of the "locks." What I would like to do is write a Mazatrol program utilizing a sub program with macros to move it around the part. It has been so long since I have delt with this type of programming was wondering if anyone does this and if they could email me a sample to look at to refresh my memory. Thanks agaim! 23. I see now that it is parameter P19. But it says you have to change other stuff also. Anyone ever done this? Please give me a heads up.
  24. Can anyone tell me if you can change the control between english and metric? If so, what parameter is it? Fusion 640MT control. Thanks in advance.
  25. Well, just ordered the plans for Jerry Howell's V-Twin. Going to try to machine and build it. I'll keep you guys posted and take lots of pictures so I can show you my progress, if anyone is interested.
