  1. Was wondering if there was a way to make multiple custom tool libraries and the one that is brought up when doing a tool path was based on the post you are using. Basically a tool template for machines.I basically use the same tools all the time and they are usually always in certain spots. Just trying to save some time and get rid of some clutter.
  2. Lets see, I was at work yesterday minding my own business when two State Constables approached me and said they had a warrant for my arrest. From talking to them I discovered it was from a citation that I supposedly never replied to. I knew I had. They intern cuffed and stuffed me so to say and drove me to the JP some 20 miles away. Upon arriving we find out that this has been an unfortunate occurance because the clerk had my plea on her desk for some time, but never entered it in her computer. So now I find myself almost stranded 20 miles from where I live and minus five hours of work. Due to someone not doing her job. Not to mention the way it made me look in my employers eyes, as well as my fellow employees. I am kind of bent over this whole situation.
  3. Is there a way to delete only vertical or only horizontal lines?
  4. Was wondering if it were possible to take a scaled blueprint and scan it into Mastercam. Maybe not directly into Mastercam but some way to get a drawing from paper to CAD at scale. Just curious. Really no need for it. Just sometime customers send me scaled drawings on paper, most of which I can work with but alot of times they forget to label key dimensions and such. Then I have to ask the for the dimensions or a CAD file that they probably should have sent to begin with.
  5. Thanks. Just about back to normal. And thanks everyone for the input. Got it working now. Had a broken switch in the machine, Wouldn't run in tape mode even after you set it to.
  6. Hello everyone.Haven't been on here in a while. Was in an accident on New Years of all days. Just got back to work. I hope you all enjoyed your holidays. I have done a search for this but can't seem to find the info I am looking for. I am using Cimco Edit at the moment to transfer programs from my PC to an Okuma OSP5020M control at the moment.Works fine as long as the programs are relatively short. I am not familiar with drip feeding at all. Is CIMCO Edit capable of this? Any help would be nice. Thanks guys.
  7. Both have little boys pants half off.....or something to that affect.
  8. Yes Harry I am using the C-axis break. Helped a little. And unfortunately the part is too big to use X and Y. Travel issues. Thanks.
  9. Was wondering if anyone else has or is having the problem of the C-axis vibrating and or humming when doing a profile using the C-axis. If so, anyone know of a remedy for this. [ 12-05-2003, 09:37 AM: Message edited by: RStuart ]
  10. Kudos to Scott Bond, he has got me all straightened out now. GOD I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
  11. Thank you Scott!!!! You're example really helped. Was going about things a little wrong. Very appreciated!!!!
  12. This has to do alot with my previous thread "Helical Groove" I am still having trouble creating this as a surface or a solid. Is it something I am doing wrong or is it a PC or Software issue? I created a helix and a profile much like a thread but when I sweep it the result does not look correct and the program shuts down as soon as I change views. Please someone HELP!!!
  13. Could program it myself to just use a 3/8 ball to cut the groove, but I am trying to stay away from full engagement of the cutter due to surface finish being an issue.
  14. Harryman, that is the problem. Everytime I try to create a solid or a surface of the right hand helix the program (mastercam v9.1 SP2) shuts down. I am machining this on an Integrex with no sub spindle and the material is 316L SS.
  15. Wow, this got kicked all the way back to page three!!But unfortunately I am still having problems with this.
  16. Millman, must be nice to be so busy this time of year. I have V9.1 SP2 now and I am still getting the same reaction from the program. As long as I do not turn on shading it is fine, but the minute I turn on shading and try to change views or even pass the cursor over the surface the program shuts down.
  17. Millman, everytime I try to create the model as you suggested above the mastercam program shuts down. I created my helix, then my profile, then swept the surface but then when I go into another graphics view to see if it looks right the program shuts down. Using V9 SP1
  18. Not really too kean on machining it with a 3/8 ball or a 3/8 grooving tool. I am a little leary about what the full engagement of the tool will do to the surface finish. The finish is very important.
  19. I will be machining this on an Integrex.
  20. Okay, I have uploaded the drawing to the FTP site. It is in the MC9 folder under HELICAL.MC9. Please someone take a looksy and give me some feed back. I would like to machine this without using a form tool and without using the obvious 3/8 ball.
  21. Mine is a two part question. How would I go about creating geometry for this in Mastercam. And would it be possible to turn it with out a form tool. I am in the process of drawing a simple 2D of the part and I will post it to the FTP Site. Please stand by. But in the mean time the groove is .375" wide, .375" deep with full radius on the bottom and a full .062 radius between each rotation.
  22. While I have no fears of getting laid off, I worry about the future of the company. Between now and the end of December I only have about 80 hours of work on the books to do. And considering I beat all the quoted times by at least 25% thats not alot of work. Factor in the fact that I now have 2 machines I can run at the same time comfortably and its really scary. I am not one to stand around watching a machine run when another is sitting idle given that the set-up and program have been proven. Gets boring.
  23. Yes, I am the only one here that can run every machine to its fullest and the only one here that knows Mastercam.
  24. The company I work for just layed off 50% of its machine shop. 4 people. And company wide, 24 total. Considering there is only about 75 people not including salary and office personel, thats pretty major. Getting kinda antsy.
