  1. Hi all, is there a way to quickly add staged tool numbers to an Nc program? im using x3 and i know within mastercam control file you can do it but i just wanted to know if you can make cimco edit add a toolnumber at a certain spots in the program Thanks
  2. Xform template worked a treat.. I didnt even know it was there.. Thanks again.
  3. Hi All, is it possible in x3 to create an arc of a specific dia but on multiple points at once instead of one at a time . thnaks
  4. im not using a solid model for programming .. although i do have a surfaced model im just using edge lines and arcs..
  5. Hi all, im wondering what is the easiest way to do this.. just spent many hours programming a part in x3.. Now i have another part to machine which use exacly the same operations and tools ( pocket sizes and drilled holes)ect but the positioning in x and y is different on my second part. So to be absolutly sure with my second part i just import my ops from the first part then re select all the geometry and points ect then regen and i have my new positions for the second part.. Is these a better way to do this because i can still make an error reselecting my geometry on the second part.. Once i have my first part programmed i would like to use it for the second. i would like to some how import the geometry and toolpaths and lay it over my original part to make sure all is well but im not sure if this can be done Thanks
  6. Hi All, is it possible to have as a default my nci and nc file names the same as my geometry file name? Thanks
  7. its when i roll a toolpath... i now that 0.02 isnt much but just wondering if its possible to make it exact thats all Thanks all.
  8. sorry for sounding dumb but whats a PM?
  9. Hi all, who do i chat to or contact regarding resetting my email address thats attached to my mastercam user account.. i have an old email address attached to it and i cant get in to change it.. thanks
  10. Hi All, is there a way to limit the accuracy of a 4th axis drilling output to so many decimal places? If i have say 10 holes to drill so i use pi as 3.142 x dia all is fine but because pi has so many decimal places when it out puts the code i get the first hole at say 36.002 then 72.02 ect insted of exacly 36 deg and 72 ect.. is there a way to over come this.. if i know that the out put should be exacly 36 and 72 how can i make this so thanks
  11. Hi all, in surface high speed roughing is there a setting for top of stock that allows for the fact that you may have say 20mm or even 50mm stock to take off first before you even get to the z zero or top of your part and then it starts to rough out? in older versions there was a top of stock button you could tick that you could set.. Thanks
  12. Hi all, whats the best way to have mastercam add the following lines to my program: G05P10000 to enable the high speed machining function at a position after my G43 H1 Z10. ect line and then G05 P0 to cancel the high speed machining function at the end of my program.. i dont want this to appear everytime i create a program .. i want to be able to select when i want it.. thanks paul
  13. Thanks for the reply i will give that a go...
  14. Hi all, I have a rectangular plate with 1000's of holes on it arranged in a grid.. then draw a circle the same dia as the width and height of my plate .. Now whats the best way to delete the 4 corners of points(this translates to 1000's of points) and just leave everything within the circle.. Thanks
  15. Hi there where would i find where to select the brake option for our 4th axis? inside of mastercam you must be able to select brake on or off .. maybe similar to coolant on or off thanks
  16. yep absolutly it looks loke this but it looks like you can cut your slots using the center line of your cutter.. my part is very similar but the slots are a little wider than the cutter so i would have to use a pocketing toolpath if this makes sense.. i would alto have to tilt my 4th axit up to suit the taper because my slots are perpendicular to the taper...
  17. Hi all whats the best way to machine a groove for plastic flow thats on a cone? we have a 4th axit head with an angle plate so i can tilt it up to suit the cone angle then its basically a fany flow groove around it..but i need to come up with a basic toolpath that i can modify to do the job.. So in other words i need to substitiute y axis for A.. i have done similar with y substitution on a roll dia but this is a cone or taper if you like so im stuck with what toolpath to use.. i have the file for reference too...
  18. Hi all, im using cimco edit v5 and when i drip feed to my machine there seems to be errors in the transmission ie red led in program and error count in program yet my file cuts my part fine at the machine... any ideas as to why? thanks
  19. Hi all, ive got a job with 20 ops in it and i want to run 2 vices on the machine to produce my parts.. whats the best way to have mastercam run my parts with a g54 for the first vice and g55 for second vice .. i want to machine 1st op on both vices then 2nd op ect.. thanks
  20. Thats it La CAMmer... Now for another quick question.. how do i put it into a vb script file that i can run? Thanks
  21. thanks for that but its not what im after. if i have a part that has say 5 holes in it i can measure between the holes and i know how many hooles there are but i dont know the dia that the holes are on..its this unknown diameter that i want to find.. thanks
  22. Hi all can anyone help with a simple formula to calculate the pcd of a set of holes... i know how many holes i have and i also know the center distance between the holes i just need the formula to find what pcd it is.. i just wanted a quick way of working out a pcd without drawing it up in mastercam thanks paul
  23. hi all not sure if this is possible but is there a drilling pattern that will let you select a grid of points(i have 5000 holes to drill)then sort them with a pattern that will drill them at say a user defined angle ie 45 deg? so its a zig zag pattern back and forth but doing so at a 45deg angle... thanks paul
