  1. hi we recently upgraded to mastercam 9.1mill and introduced wire 9 for the first time.. as usual our reseller said wire would be completely compatable with our 3 machines agie dem 315 an ac100 and a new classic cut 2s... well he got the post about 90 % right for the dem and the 100 but do ya think he will come back again and fix the few remaining probs we have?? not likely once he was paid that was it.. aparently the classic cut is a completly different matter..it has to be output with double line moves one for the top head and one for the bottom so we have given up on that machine completly.. we just run the program from the ac100 though an iso converter and program it from within the machine. is there someone at mastercam who will fix our couple of minor problems ... which should have been dealt with by our local reseller.. its a little disappointing to hear by boss bitch and moan about people who dont deliver 100% of what they promised.. now our wire guy is stuck editing his nc files till we can get this sorted out if at all... thanks paul
  2. operation parameters are all ok and NOT showing a feedrate of 0 ... when in highfeed i select optimize feed for finishing only it doesnt give any options for changing feedrate..but still outputs a feedrate of zero if i dont use highfeed at all my feedrates are all ok.. G01 Z2.5 F1000.(programmed feedrate) Z.1 F0. X-380.51 Z-.011 F500.(programmed plunge rate)
  3. hi all i've just started playing with highfeed option in mill 9.1 . all seems ok it outputs different feedrates for different sections of a surface contour(3d) but it also outputs a feedrate of zero(0) which my fanuc control doesnt like.. how can i avoid the f0 output.. thanks paul
  4. we manufacture press tooling mostly for the automotive industry... we do alot for kozma engineering and trico we also run production press work..
  5. i live in langwarrin and work in dandenong... vorteil engineering.. ever heard of us?
  6. hi im sure this topic has been covered but where else beside screen config can you set the tolerance for your solid and surface models to avoid the small flats you get after machining a curved rad on a part? im sure i set all the tolerances very tight like .002 and still i get 1mm flats on a curve of 80 mm or so... and thats actually from a solid model i created in mastercam thanks
  7. could someone please tell me why the step file converter in v9.1 is an extra add on charge ?? its a standard file converter no more special than iges or parasolid... it sucks that you do the right thing by spending the money to upgrade then find you havent even got a basic file converter for crying out loud.. and the price they want for the access code what a joke!!
  8. im still trembling with fear as to what could have been with the toolpath - transform option...in mastercam 8.1.. i machined a die block with a simple set of contours then all i wanted to do was to mirror the toolpath and thus machine the righhand die block but i twigged something was wrong when the mirrored toolpath would machine around my countor then rapid in z- my step amount then retract to z clearance plane then move to the next countour.. i thought ok its not doing any harm cause the rapid move is off the job so i watched the code line by line as it was executed.. then on the last pass at z-50. it machined the contour then it was going to feed right across my 50mm thick die block and go back to the start point again with a 50 mm cutter.. man i hit the stop button that quick it wasnt funny... anyway ive had this problem before but with edit nci its fine only thing is you cant reverse toolpath to continue to climb mill with the mirrored toolpath what gives here!!! any help thanks Paul
  9. hi all does mastercam have a post processor for a seimens controller? thanks paul
  10. Thanks guys but the ruled option is not really the answer im looking for. the loft surface will give more orf a curved surface between the contours i'll try the lofted approach if i have any probs i'll give you guys a call thanks
  11. what method would i use to model this part... imagine clamping a piece of 25mm wide plate about 150 long(thickness not important) and clamping the end in a vice .. then twisting the other end around till ya reach 45 deg.. so ya get a sort of a twisted spiral effect...really all i want is to surface the part then i can create a material thickness to it so we can crach form a part.. thanks
  12. when i select file-edit-nc it calls up cimco edit as my default editior which is fine.. but before it opens up in the editor window it gives me a waring saying that part of window is located outside the desktop and would i like to bring it back? it never used to do this so ive obviously changed something...can anyone help thanks
  13. in mc8 is it possible to save your setup sheet showing your part and a backplot of the toolpath together.. i want to email to a customer a doc file or something similar so he can see the part im machining for him plus the toolpath backplot as well .. thanks
  14. is there a simple document out there that gives examples of spindle speeds and feedrates for differnet steels , depths of cut , cutter diameters ect to use with high speed milling?
  15. when a customer gives us a 3d surface model of a bracket as example what would you use to quickly extend the surfaces out so you can make top and bottom form blocks to crash form it?? at the moment you untrim surfaces ,then extend em out blend fillets in and try and make something half decent which takes for ever... also is there a program to flatten out a 3d model and have it give you a pre formed blank shape?? do these programs come as a demo to try.. using mc8 ..thanks
  16. hi again does anyone know of a program that can take a wireframe 3d model of a part that might have a material thickness about it and flatten it out to give you a pre formed blank shape? we do alot of press tools and we have to manually develop a rough blank then hit it in our form tools then measure it and make adjustments to suit.. i know it depends alot on the type of material being formed and how hard ya hit it ect but i live in hope!!
  17. hey guys ive asked this before but now im desparate.. would anyone out there know where i could get hold of a post processor for mc8 to suit an agie dem 315 or 250 wire cutter. ive been trying to fiddle with the post but its harder than a milling post .. special attention needs to be payed to the line in and line out moves where the wire comp is added instead of cutter comp line being first is actually on the second line and the first line in the contour after the cutter comp is turned on is on the first line.... any help appreciated
  18. thanks greg i'll give it a go tomorrow.. one other thing this is probably a setting of some sort in win xp but when i start mastercam for the firts time when i get to work the graphic background section of the screen stays white instead of my usual black.. as soon as i call up a file and it loads the file it stays black... also if i do say a collision check on my toolpaths when it does it and gives you a report of whether or not it gouged and how many gouges and the volume ect the report is highlighted in black ... its like when you swipe the text to select it for printing or something... any hep appreciated..
  19. ive upgraded to xp pro with mastercam 8 but things seem a little sluggish... especially when i dynamically rotate a part.. its much slower than win me.. also when i post a file theres like a 10 sec delay before it starts posting.. never used to be see ya!!!
  20. i just think it would be cool to see an animated picture on your pc screen of your tool machining over your block ... this of course is assuming that all toolpath verification has already taken place BEFORE you start maching so you know the machine in not going to crash... purely just for good looks really!!
  21. Thanks guys i'll give it a go but nothings ever easy with computers......
  22. i want to see where my machine tool is on my remote pc...so what i want to see is whatever my machine is cutting line by line it shows it on the remote pc in a graphical way as well...
  23. whats the easiest way to get around this.. was running win me with mastercam 7.2c upgraded to win xp pro and now i get error message about hast not found... my dongle no is #21525 thanks
  24. hi ya , does anyone know of a dnc program that can show you a model of ya part and a picture of your cutter machinging your part while your doing a dnc link .. in other words a real time viewing of what your machine is doing on your remote pc screen...
  25. does anyone know of any good reference books that are available here in australia on solid modelling?
