  1. this is our very first solid and we finally have the drawing correct but now we can't figure out how to tool path it. I would like to use a .500 bullnose endmill to do the whole job. Could someone take a look at it and see if they can get me started. Please feel free to delete any current tool paths that are on the file.   4. I'm not sure why I am having so much trouble all of a sudden with this but here goes. All I am trying to do is machine a square pocket with .250 corner fillets and .125 bottom fillets using a .500 bullnose cutter with .0312 radius. I can't get into the FTP site because I am behind a firewall here but if someone would let me email the generic pocket to them they could either answer my question or post it for me. I really appreciate the help everyone is willing to provide. thanks again Al
  5. Roger I have a tslot2.dll in my chooks but no tslot.dll and when I try to run it I get a unknown file error. I would like to learn more about it could you point me in the right directions to locate it? Finally finished all of these parts but I'm sure there will be more to come.   6. Our slot is .500 wide and we can start off the part and end off the part. Have 2 completed now with 4 to go.. LOL Thanks again Al
  7. cycle times are not all that important just have to getrdun. Cutters are cutting great then just snapping at .200 depth of cut. I started out with .075 doc but then the cutters would wear before finishing the slot. I am currently at .125 doc 100 sfpm and .002 chipload seems to be working ok at the moment. I will change to a smaller cutter if I have anymore problems. Thanks again for everyones help Al
  8. Sorry thats .400 deep. Still early! We are flooding with cimstar/qualstar coolant with a 15 to 1 ratio with water. We just changed to a bullnose cutter with .o6 rad. crossing our fingers. Thanks for the tip Al
  9. Need some help on speeds and feeds for MIL-A-46100 49 rc Steel Armor plate. Using a solid carbide 1/2" end mill must go 24" and slot must finish .400 so far everything we have tried has failed. We don't have any other option than to machine this slot just hoping someone else is working with this material. Currently running 100 sfpm and .002 per tooth chipload. Thanks for all the help Al

  12. We are having the same problem. We post out to mastercams editor and communicate and send to our machines that way but, cannot send thru the post processing window with the send to machine checked. I have been banging my head for the last couple of weeks thinking I was all hosed up. Thanks for posting the problem now I will just work around it until it gets fixed. Thanks everyone Al

  14. I have searched and have been unable to find an answer so I'm reaching out to the wise ones. How do you set your tool library to default in MC9. I'm sure its in the screen-config file but I can't seem to locate the right place. Thanks in advance for the help. Enjoy your day Al

  16. I'm having the same problem in v9 lathe and X. We are trying to set up communications from mastercam to our SL 20. I can send files thru the cimco editor but would like to send directly thru Mastercam. I go screen, config, communications, change all the settings, save as lathe9.cfg, (delete old file) click yes, close out of everything. when I go into operations magager, click post, send to machine, (check options by pressing Comm Button) everything looks right but when I press ok to send the file Mastercam reverts back to old settings and tries to send thru com port 2 instead of 1 that set in the config screens. Any ideas why mastercam is not saving my settings? I figure I am missing a step and just don't see it. Thanks for the help Al

  18. I'm Sure this has been covered but, I can't seem to find it..... Can you install MC X and Leave version 9 on your system?? We would love to start playing with X but Can't be down without MC if we run into trouble. Thanks for the help Al

  20. Thanks to Millman and InHouse Solutions!!!! Millmans code was right on! and the hand holding(training) from Brett at InHouse Solutions proves again to be worth thier weight in GOLD.   21. Good Morning all: I would like to change our work coordinates from always using g54 on lathe. Currently no matter what number I place in the coordinates box in MC I always get a g54. Took a look at out post and question 301 work coordinate(-1=ref, 0=g50,1=home,2=g54's)?2 what I would like is for my post to output coordinates if I assign a -1 (in the coordinates box) then the post would output a g53 and if I assign a 0 (in the coordinates box) then the post would output a 54 and so on. Could either of you give me a short course on how too set the planes so that I can rotate a part that has different geometry on the top and bottom or the front and back. I keep trying and just can't seem to get a hold of it... thanks again for pulling me out of the hole I had dug for myself.... Enjoy your day al
  23. Good Afternoon all I am trying to simply machine the same geometry on the top and bottom of a part using a rotary head to position my work. The problem I am having is everytime I select the bottom view for a construction and geometry plane MC outputs code that actually machines the mirror of what I would like about the Y axis. I spoke to my reseller and they suggested that I set my axis with my z plane in the down position to solve my problem. I tried that but I'm not sure I did it right. Anyone have any suggestions.   24. +1 KANNON123 Thats exactly the way we copy to the clipboard its super easy and you can copy our to any program you like. Setting a Key is easy once you scroll down and find the funtion (copy to clipboard) that you want. Have a great day Al
  25. We map a key to copy to clipboard then paste it into paint where it is easy to resize and print.. Hope this works for you have a great day Al
