  1. Mark/Jeremy, Thanks for the replys, and details of how and where they needed to be turned on at. We have already made mention that the options will need to be tested that they work with sample programs before we sign off on this one, though our Doosan dealer is great to work with. Glad to hear you got the bugs worked out, this is the good stuff that makes this forum great, thanks. Now I have some Haas issues, but thats another post.
  2. I was just curious if a solution was ever found to this problem? This topic has my interest, as our new machine is due in shortly and we will be using these features. Please update anything new, or maybe I will post my findings after the Fanuc guys are done here installing and verifying these options work, and work together.
  3. +1 on the M6600 from Dell, It has been flawless so far. Go with the SSD, i7 , min 8GB, and Nvidia 4000. Our old tower slowed when we added Verisurf, not this thing. You wouldn't be disappointed.
  4. Seems recently, maybe since X6 mu1 or 2, currently mu3, my toolpaths are always staying displayed after creating them, unless I use the toggle display button. X5 and earlier, when I started the next T-path, the previous would not be displayed. Does this seem correct? This is just kinda annoying, do I have something checked that is making this happen?
  5. MKD, thanks for the info. We have decided to stay with Tsudakomo, just waiting to here back if some of the options are available, Smooth TCP, and Nano 2. BTW, in case anyone was interested, it's a Doosan 400 31i-A5. Thanks again, will post picks when we get all the details worked out.
  6. Now that scares me a little, no comment or experience with these. Maybe we are better off sticking with the Tsudakomo rather than something no one has any experience with. Thanks to all those that at least took a look.
  7. Just wanted to test the water before we buy, has anyone had any experience with the ATS line of 5ax trunnions? They seem to be a pretty good unit based upon the specs, not quite as good as the Komo units, but better than Haas, we currently have both of these in house now. I have only the best to say for the Tsudakomo line, but as always, pricing dictates a lot of what you buy. Any feed back is much appreciated.
  8. Thank you both for replying, I'm headed down the right path then. The free form ports we work with are an art, that being said, science as well. Maintaining the critical port shape that has taken months to develop through Flow bench and dyno testing is critical. Using a combination of refine and smooth then, to get better usable mesh as close to original, but a good shape as well. I have seen both scenarios where the mesh may need more work in certain areas, but if smoothed or refined before the offset they appear more fluent, but deviate far from the original shape. Ron, the venus is a very good example of that. Using verify to check the newly created surfaces has been great for checking the deviation from original. Thanks for the advice Chris, I am doing that as well. I have also been converting my meshes back to a cloud form, then refining, and returning to the mesh to get some pretty clean transitions with minimal distortion. Ron, at some point I will send you a file to look over, we are very busy with some new products. I will be needing some additional help with aligning a best fit of our new port shape to old style core boxes that don't exactly match the current design. Thanks for the reply's, I will keep you guys updated.
  9. Just trying to gather some real world info from verisurf users out there, Ron if you see this please chime in. I'm trying to figure out when using verisurf reverse, whether it is better to refine and smooth your meshes before or after you offset for the probe radius? And where might I see the differences occur, either in the meshes or when auto surfacing? We are just wanting the best possible outcome for our surfacing. I also want to make note that MC coupled with Verisurf/3d gage has been an awesome product, for inspection and reverse engineering. Thanks in advance
  10. IMO, using multi-axis drill toolpaths would be the way I would tackle this. Start with Verisurf hole axis to gain a point and vector line, then using multi axis drill tool path, selecting points and lines should be the quickest path to completion. Hope this helps
  11. Thanks to you all for the feedback, we will be adding the Makino to the floor, just made the decision today. Just need to update my post now, so will need to contact our reseller once we have the machine. Glad to hear all good responses on this machine, our Local Doosan rep. just picked up the Makino line and the service dept. has been great on the doosans which pretty much seals the deal. Redfire427 I know, I already feel that way. It's a fine machine If holding +-.002 max is ok, and you don't mind the Trunion leaking air since installed November of 2010. Factory and local Haas don't seem to care, so we chose to spend elsewhere. I hate not spending it on USA made products, as it keeps most all of use doing what we do. Thanks again
  12. Thank you both for the quick replys. Our rep. has told us the same about the Pro 5 control, I believe the Makino would be an excellent addition on the floor. Thanks for your time, any other thoughts welcome.
  13. We are currently looking at a Makino F5 full 5ax machining center to add to the shop. We are currently an all Doosan shop, with the exception of one lonley F5 Haas and we're looking for some real world experience with a Makino. Any feedback on this or thoughts on other machines would be appreciated. We currently run our 5ax products in either a Doosan DMV4020 with a Komo or the Haas. I realize the Makino with glass scales is a far superior product to these, but still would like the feedback.
