  1. Hi JParis. Thanks for the reply. I have changed this and that has cured this in my X9. I'm confused as my X8 now has the first choice and doesn't show this issue! Any how, all's well now. thanks again. Andy.
  2. Hi newbeeee. Thanks for the reply. Yes, I had seen that post at the time and in the migration from X8 to X9 this was one of the things I looked for. (see attached) I believe these are the same between my X8 and X9 installations so thought there may be another setting somewhere that I don't know of maybe? ATB. Andy.
  3. Hi all. I have a back plot which shows the tool clearing some screw heads and in verify it shows a collision? I'm sure that this is easily cured but cannot think where? This file is directly loaded from an X8 format BTW. The same file that was originally created in X8 and verifies and back plots fine. ATB. Andy.
  4. Hi Mick. Thanks for your time, again, I certainly appreciate it. So, as I see it, for every time you require information from every 'data source sub level' you need a sub report from that level? I was also curious as the final 'TOOL' level report that just 'txt' data field was required? I will look further but it still fascinates me as to the logic that the computer compilers/programs follow to give the info we need! As I said before.... ANY info you give or ANY info that ANY body gives is very gratefully received from myself. Andy.
  5. Hi again Mick. This seems to work perfectly, thank you once again. I have the tutorial file(s) but still don't fully understand the drilling down through the hierarchy to get the info required as you have done here. Can you explain in simple terms how this happens? I appreciate any response to help further. Andy.
  6. Hi Mick. Thanks for this reply and solution.....I will hopefully get to look at this later today. Many thanks again. Andy.
  7. Hi all. This may have been covered on here / elsewhere but I'm struggling with this one! I have a basic main report file to which I want to use a 'subreport' file to give me some tool information - tool number, size and type, holder but no duplicate tools please. I am stuck as my report only returns one tool from this report. If any clever users out there know of a successful work around and could tell me / show me, I would be extremely grateful. Here is a link to the two report files and one zipped file for both. https://www.dropbox.com/s/dad0oerpcf5l04t/-t%28tool%29.rpx?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/io8u189yj1jqjxx/t%28mcam%29.rpx?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/j5jycjw0w2gjeim/SST.rar?dl=0 I look forward to any replies. Andy.
  8. I would really like to know what you are on about! Maybe I don't need to know, but now curiosity has got the better of me! Please can you explain 'BOOLEAN ADD'????? And how to do it in Mastercam? Ta. Andy.
  9. You can join all three and make them one. Have done this before but didn't know why I haven't thought about it this time!!! I now have this with 0.05mm material between two of them! Thanks. Andy.
  10. Hi All. I have a tombstone arrangement where I wish to machine multiple (same) parts. My question is, how do I get this to verify with the three individual pieces of stock as shown in the attached picture? (yellow, red and pink/purple?) I can verify one piece but not all three at the same time. Any ideas? Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere but a quick search has yielded no results that are of any use to me! ATB. Andy.
  11. This is the tree format I see in my X8 Tool manager. Do you see something similar? I have selected the 'cutting tools' on the left to get the tools to the right side. Andy.
  12. Did you use the migration wizard? Find this in the 'File' menu. I did with moderate success as some tool geometry seemed to 'change' between versions. Andy.
  13. Sorry for the delay in reply.... All works great here now, thank you. Cheers Andy.
  14. I'm with JP. Verifies fine with me also! Andy.
  15. Thanks for the quick reply. Kind of! The way you have it there the cutter, on approach, gouges in to the base of the part. - I've removed the approach/exit curves and this seems to have solved that issue. I've merely suggested 5 axis curve as I know very little about the 5axis cycles and only have used 5axis swarf with limited luck! Do you have any other suggestions as how this could be done? Andy.
  16. I'm struggling to drive a Ø5mm ball nose slot drill around the bottom of a profile - a bit like the one attached here - Can anyone help please? I'm trying to use the 5Axis Curve option but getting nowhere fast. I can use 3+2 but would like a smooth transition all around the internal base radius. Any help is appreciated. Andy.5AXIS CURVE TEST.MCX-7
  17. I have installed X+ for X8 and when I use this for the X+ Toollist function Mastercam crashes with the usual crash report box. This happens when I use it with Excel or HTML output but only when I try to use 2 or more operations. If I highlight just 1 op at a time then the program works fine. This works fine with X7 and X6 versions previously. I have restarted, and tried a reinstall but still X8 crashes. Has anyone else experienced this and possibly have a workaround? Andy.
  18. I haven't tried to post the file as I cant regenerate the tool path. Zip2go may be a good way. I will see what my reseller says and maybe come back with an answer. Andy.
  19. Geometry is a solid face. I am using surface geometry in selection. Yes, closed boundary. No duplicate or overlapping entities. Necessity? Probably not, however, this works flawlessly with X6! Not just letters and numbers, more like a small emblem. Single point geometry may to but I'm looking for more defined corners. More to the point, why does X6 do what X7 can't? (on my PC any way) Thanks for the questions/reply. Andy.
  20. Hi. I have an issue when using any 3d model to use as engraving geometry. When I say I have an issue, I mean X7 has an issue! I can start X7, import the geometry (solid file) set the part to the correct orientation etc... and start the engraving operation. When I click the green tick I get the circle of boredom! I have enough time to write this, send a message, start X6 and get the job done without the circle of boredom! Any help / ideas? Thanks in advance. Andy.
  21. Thanks. The more I looked at it, the easier it became! Simple 3d tool path from some flowline curves and a ball nose slot drill sorted it. Andy.
  22. I seem to be a tiny bit stuck as to how I could machine the green cavities on this attached part. Green for drive surfaces and red for check surfaces. I may be over complicating things by seeing it as a 5 axis machining strategy or a 'simple' surface rough / surface finish operation sequence. Does anyone have any thoughts? I would be grateful of any input. Andy. MULTI AXIS SURFACES.MCX-7
  23. It would seem that something has been removed, replaced or corrupted from your last installs maybe? You could try; Roll back (system restore?) - if windows or you created a restore point at the time of installs; or remove mastercam and reinstall it again. Don't forget to back up any posts and relavent machine debs etc... Andy.
  24. Worked like a dream!! All I have to do now is get it on the machine....Thank you sooooooo much. Andy.
  25. Thanks Bob. Yep, still as clear as mud!! My geometry (I think) still has the same type and quantity of square and round corners top and bottom so I am still unsure of how to go about this part. Andy.
