Kevin,
I found that NOT setting the t/construction planes correctly at the start of the op generated this error. Once the planes were set correctly it went away.
Doug
John,
Reopen was already unchecked.
Steve,
I renamed it to CimcoEdit.exe and renamed the old MR1 installation and now it seems to be working OK.
Thanks again to everyone for their help.
Best regards,
Doug
When I open the nc file it also opens the Cimco exe file in the editor. It opens both files for editing at the same time!!!!!
The nc file is "opened" ready to edit but the cimco exe file is there as a tab and I can click on it to edit it or I can right click and close it leaving the nc file open.
Needless to say, I do not attempt to edit the cimco file.
I hope this is clear now.
Best regards,
Doug
John Summers,
Thanks, that email comes to me.
Jay,
Every time I think I have cracked the WCS/plane thing I get a new puzzle, but it is going OK.
Best regards to all,
Doug
John Paris,
I expected it to work that way but will try again tomorrow.
John Summers,
How do I get the camshaft utility?
Thanks to both of you.
Best regards,
Doug
I want to create a series of planes at 45 deg increments round a camshaft c/line.
I can get to A180. by rotating the A0 plane but when I try for A225 it does not create A225 and show A135 on the screen.
Any tips on the best way to do this would be much appreciated
Doug
GCODE,
That worked too.
I never even thought that one could untrim a surface created from the solid like that.
I don't know if I am any smarter today but I am wiser.
Thanks again.
Best regards,
Doug
John,
I was going to try that next if there was no better way.
Ron,
I forgot to mention that the part is a solid from a step file.
I was able to use your information after I created surfaces inside the holes (from the solid).
If I am missing something about using the solid let me know.
Once again thanks to both of you for your endless sharing of your valuable experience.
I have a shaft with holes at various angles, but all perpendicular to the center line.
I want to drill them on a 4 axis machine.
Any hints on how to generate the hole axis.
I don't think Verisurf's prog works as I have no circles to select due to the curved surfaces (Diameters) on the part.
Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
Best regards,
Doug Gabbey
When I rotate a mill operation I generally don't want to output a new G55 G56 etc.
Is there some way to set the default to prevent this?
I am at home and can't remember the exact wording but there are 3 choices at the bottom right of the first? page.

Jay?,
I found this by googling catia+c18
It found many references to "cracked software" also.
Hope this helps.
