  1. The install should have added a verisurf drop down menu to the top level menu bar. All of the verisurf add ons are found in this drop down menu.
  2. Still working on it. I am waiting to here back from the applications tech at Haas in California. I sent him a sample program that would cause the alarm along with all of the settings and parameters as they are in the machine.
  3. My post does output all roary moves in G93 inverse feed. Do you know which setting or parameter is used to set the time unit to seconds?
  4. We have a Haas VF6SS with a HRT210 5 axis trunnion table. We do a lot of small aerospace parts using primarily 5axis swarf and curve 5axis toolpaths to machine contoured and angled walls of parts with the side of an endmill. My problem is that I often get alarms for excessive feedrate using these toolpaths. It doesn't seem to matter what feedrate I program, if this alarm happen, it happens with any feedrate I use. I normally do not program much over 40 to 50 ipm on this machine using these toolpaths, but even changing these to 10 ipm does not solve the problem. I use these some machining strategies on out Makino A82 and A51 which are equipped with extra 5 axis rotary tables at much higher feedrates without any of these issues. Anyone else out there using these machines this way know of any way to get around these kind of problems? All of these programs are done with MCam and my post does change all of these feeds to inverse time.
  5. I recently received some files from one of our designers at our corporate office that were modeled in ProE. These consist of a model of the finished part and a model of the forging from which this part is to be machined from. The models I have received are iges and step files. The finished part file comes into MC as a very nice solid with no problems. The model of the forging however comes in as sufaces OK, bit any atempt to import the step file in as a solid or convert from sufaces to a solid once in MC results in a sheet solid with missing faces and gaps. I have looked though all of my config settings along with the options when chosing the file to open with no luck. Th only other cad software I have access to is Catia V5, but I am not very experianced with it. It seems to import into this OK, but any attempt to export back out and into MC pretty much gets me the same result. Just wondering if anyone might have any ideas to resolve this. I may end up going back to the designer who did these files and see if there is anything he can do in ProE to help out.
  6. I knew you could copy geometry from one session to another this way, just wondering if you could copy toolpaths from on ops manager to another the same way. Maybe this could be added to the wish list for future versions. Thanks guys.
  7. Just wondering if there was a way to copy toolpaths from one op manager to another if you have more than one session of mcam running. I know you can export and import ops, just wondering if some knew of an easier way.
  8. Vericut here as well. Wouldn't do any 5 axis programming without it.
  9. Thanks Jay, are these compatable with X4MU1?
  10. How can we obtain the Verisurf hole axis chook?
  11. CNC, that has pretty much been my experiaence as well.
  12. I am normally set to .oo2. I tried going to .003. How much can you safely open this up to?
  13. Anyone have issues with saving stl files from verify to use in verify? Seems like the larger the file size of this stl file the more problems I run into. Most of the time that it happens I get an error message that says "Operation Failed" with a box to click OK. After clicking OK, that file is 0 bytes in size. X3 and X4. Dell T7400, 4 gigs ram, Nvidia Quadro FX 4600 video card. Dual 22" flar screens.
  14. I have had this happen to me several times. Everything is fine, change one parameter and suddenly get the same result you did. I finaly tried exiting out of MC and restarting, then redoing the toolpath from the start and then it was OK.
  15. That's what I thought. Thanks.
  16. Anyone know if it is possible to convert a .jt 3d file into something MC can import? I have a viewer that allows us to view the files and measure them, but it would be great to get hem into MC for a more detailed analysis.
  17. Will probably wait a little while on the presetter. We will have tool and spindle probes. Just the one machine for the near future and just the 2 pallets, so no cell controller. There are plans for 2 more of these machines down the road along with a pallet pool, so maybe then. We still need to prove to the bean counters that we can utilize this machine well. As far as the larger tool magazine, I lobbied hard for all I could get, but the 97 was all I could could talk them into.
  18. I have already contacted or resller about a post. I have already begun the process of modeling up tombstone and such. We are finalising the details with Kennametal and Hanita on toolholders and cutting tools. As soon as we get this nailed down, the cutting tools and holders will be setup in a MC tool library and modeled in Vericut to the finest detail. 97 tools was all we could get budgeted for. For most of the work we will be doing, this should be enough for now. Gotta get our feet wet first.
  19. In Sept we are getting a brand new Makino A82 horizontal with a 20k high accuaracy spindle, 97 tool magazine, 1000psi thru spindle coolant, and a 5th axis rotary table for one of the pallets. This will be our first high end machine. We will be moving up from a bunch of Haas, Fadal, and Hurco machines. This machine is slated for aluminum aerospace parts only. We will be using almost all HSK100A shrink fit tool holders. We will be tooling up for work holding using tombstones with Invert-a-bolt fixturing, along with some Technigrip fixtures. We have purchased Vericut for NC program verification for which I will be attending training next week. I have been doing some 5 axis programming recently for 2 Haas VF6SS machines with TR210 5 axis trunnion tables that we have. We are a small shop right now that is owned by a relatively large corporation. We have tried for years to convince the corporate people to move up to this type of equipment, and now that they have commited almost $1M to this, I want to make sure we get this of to a good start. We will be moving into a new facility in July and the machine will arrive sometime aroung the 1st of Sept. We will be watched very closely on this project. Right now I will be handling all of the programming, cutting tool and workholding issues for this machine, along with my regular duties of programming for about 8 other machines as well. I know there are quite a few MC users out here that are experienced with these types of machines. We only use MC for our programming, part modeling, and fixture design. Any advice for a programmer who is going to have his hands full in the next few months? I am looking forward to this, but there is also a little apprehension on my part, as this is a giant leep in maching capability from where we are now. 20. Also make sure you are in 3D and not 2D on your lower menu bar.
  21. Transform 3D is what you need to use. Lots of options for translating between planes.
