Is there a way to indicate that a cutter is non center cutting, such as indexable end mills? Something that would know every time that tool was selected, it couldnt plunge down on the part.
I've been trying to use the new "fill holes" option. It doesn't seem to work. Create, Surface, Trim/Extend, Fill holes. Then, solid face? and select the face then drag the arrow to it and click. The new surface is created but the tool path doesn't see the fill. The tool still dips down into the hole
Just loaded V9.1. I right click on the tool in the tool parameters box, and change the params, go back to the tool param box and click on the tool , and the changes are not there. "Help" says that a dialog box should pop up asking about the changes. Mine doesn't. What am I missing?
Wow, you guys are still going on this? There's alot of good info here. Moto GP, thanks for looking at my electrode. It's always good to see how someone else does things. We normaly use the "lying" method. I just wanted to see if anyone knew of an easier way. Thanks to all.
I sent it to all nc programs. I guess I should have sent it to mc8 files. If you look at it i was wondering about all the sloped surfaces .Will telling it the wrong size affect the geometry.
Jammer, thats what I have been doing. Lately were getting some pretty complicated burns though. Designers are leaving it to me to figure out which faces to have neg stock on, And I'm not so sure.
I need to engrave a part. The surface is convex, and the geometry is a bunch of little pockets instead of single lines. I am using a 3/64 ball nose cutter. When I select the geometry, the cutter comp moves the cutter to the wrong side of the line on about half of the lines. So I cant just change sides. Turning Comp off will not work either because the lettering is to close to each other. Any suggestions?
I'm using surf rough parallel. It makes a cut a Z zero before it goes to the other depths. How do i get it to skipp that level? The depth of the cut is about .6 and I have the max step down set to a value larger than that.
