  1. Something I have done for paint grade work in MDF is to use a spray on automotive filler just before the last pass. The MDF soaks it up and your left with a very nice finish. I would ask if it's compatable with their coating. It's dry in under 15 min. just a thought. Chimo Les
  2. this may sound dumb, but , measure the tool and see if it is undersized. I have some Onsrud .25 down sprials with the cutter&shaft at .24 something { can't remember exactly }. Chimo Les
  3. Adobe PhotoDeluxe home edition came with one of the computors, seems to do a good job of editing/cleaning pics. Sometimes it is faster to import a raster image into a cad programe and trace over it. Rhino & 3DS are a couple I use.
  4. doesn't plunge rate control peck speeds?
  5. B.C. Saw and Tool Is a good place to start. they have alot of cnc tooling {wood}. They can also make it if need be.
  6. greg with a .125 bit nested to center of bit go with .001 or .01 between parts. with a .125 bit nested to dia of bit you can go as small as -.124 between parts its nesting the toolpath wich can overlap by as much as .124 { aprox 95% of dia} and still cut good parts
  7. hi greg, the 10 by 13 worked for me { got 10 } I don't have ftp so my part was 10x by 13y orgin center of part sheet was 48x by 35y tool was .125 upcut sprial part to part was .126 nested toolpaths, fill all sheets min quat 11 step angle 90 my habit is to make part orgin the center insted of a corner {seems to help somehow} hope this helps in some way chimo les router pro v9.1 I got it to fail by nesting to tool dia plus distance between parts .125 = not enough room for vertical top row [ 06-27-2004, 04:12 PM: Message edited by: les ]
  8. things you could try are rotate part 45* try true shape nesting give it a grain direction chimo les
  9. mine work pretty good together. Do you have a degause {sp} button on yours? It may help to press it after they are together.
  10. thanks guys, I'll give wd-40 a try. I can't remember where I read about canola oil. btw. I'll use the alcohoel to work up some spit
  11. hi fellows. what would be a cheap coolant for aluminum? I read once that canola oil was good. this will be a one time deal on a cnc router. there most likely is not a supplier in town for normal stuff. thanks
  12. Hi just a thought to ponder. they play hockey in florida because of??
  13. I do the same thing on my z7. I use a ulta-fine permanet marker. drilled a hole in a block of wood to hold it. It floats in the hole, and has thumb screw to hold it up. clamp the wood { or other material } to z axis and away you go.
  14. yup max your rpms, 2 flutes, climb cut, use a peice of plywood under door to keep oil and other stuff off the door. do a test run first. best of luck
  15. just a few thoughts about mr crazy I hope that you have agreed to have your overtime banked, and that they are just not paying it. not paying it is a federal offense up here. If your managment then its a different story. When I worked that many hours for a company they owed me for meals, doubletime after 50 hours, and various other things. these are labor laws, not union laws. I hope things improve for you. and best of luck with your new baby.
  16. Hi all Just herd on the radio that were sending some crews and tankers down. So keep your heads down when the crazy canucks do get there, leave a empty glass outside cause sometimes we run out of water and use beer insted I truly hope this ends soon. I was to mad to sleep last night. whatched a show called daily planet. they interved a us forest dork and he was laughing a jokeing about now this will end at the ocean and to much fuel ect... I wanted to reach into the t.v. and .... best of luck les
  17. I agree totaly. when the fires were small they should of kicked the liven.... out of them. they knew the fuel situation, the winter winds, terain ect..we just went threw this not to long ago. they knew all that, plus the recent history of fires where they were slow to react and were still not prepared.. a recall and culling of the herd is a great idea. a 4 year old can put 2 + 2 together and get 4 . try not to get to depressed. back to work i must go les teh pray for rain
  18. Hi guys. my best wishs and prayers to you all. just a few thoughts about the helios on the ground. Flying a rotory wing aircraft in these types of large fires is unbelievably dangerous. what usally happens is after dropping there load they overcompensate, hit a downdraft, and crash { they need to be low to be effective }. I agree that they are the best military pilots on earth but I've been there and seen what can go wrong. The weather around these fires is something you don't want to be in. I'm not putting anyone down, just trying to help explain. again.. my best wishs and prayers are with you all.
  19. I wish to offend nobody with my attempts at humor.Sometimes it can't be helped. carry on
  20. hi crazy. just send me your account # an pin # and I will transfer it in the morning. I'll throw in a couple of posts of your choice as well.
  21. I clicked on the link and ebay has cancled the auction. thank you ebay.
  22. I went through a failed hard drive { tick tick....} they called it a catastrofic head crash. It's not a fun thing to happen. I lost everything, so make shure to back everything up. having to enter all those different codes and keys and ect.. is a waste of a good day.
  23. thanks mr crazy. I do keep alot of notes. i like to print them up and place them on the wall untill they are second nature. one other tip for this thread is i use a GRANDTEC Virtually Indestructible Keyboard out in the shop. it's great, spill coffee, pop, or anything, can't hurt it. roll it up, throw it in the sink and scrub away. it's a little glunky and built like a remote control. but for out in the shop it's a whole lot better than the frustration with the other types.
  24. thank-you scott. this is an unbeliveable place. people willing to help and exchange code and all the other helpfull stuff is something you don't see anymore. i hope i can do more some day.
