  1. The problem I run into is that as the drill dia. increases, so should the "ipr", according to the Machining Data Handbook. [ 11-28-2001: Message edited by: Mike-T ]
  2. Sounds like an application for Trochoidal milling. Does anyone know if Version 9 has expanded on it ??
  3. No one has mentioned Matsuura. We have 11 with another on the way. A bit spendier but..... You get what you pay for. "Good Iron"
  4. The Tolerance of the hole determines the machining process.
  5. yup....definitly be worth it !!!
  6. I often have both Mcam and Pro/e up @ the same time and have yet to have problems since switching over to Win2000. (hope that doesn't come back to haunt me !!) As far as the old code.....Yes Mcam does retain some of the "feel" of an older app, but i feel thats a Plus !! I think that as an app gets more and more of the windows "feel" you start to lose speed. Takes longer to use the mouse than it does to use the keyboard..(F keys and shortcuts...ect..)
  7. Is this a trick question ?? oops....had to re-read the question !! [This message has been edited by Mike-T (edited 06-08-2001).]
  8. hello all !! I don't have the Solids for Mastercam...I use Pro-e...Is there any advantage in geting the solids for MC ??
  9. Thanks guys....yup...you were right..that took care of it. Up till 8.11 I copied my cfg file between versions so I wouldn't loose my map keys. I figured it wasn't a good idea to keep doing that.
  10. Has anyone else noticed that you have to have your model shaded to have your tool shaded ??? So if your working on a wire frame with no surfaces or solids, you don't get the option to have a shaded tool !!!
  11. Not sure if its the "right" way of doing it, but alot of times I just extend the start and end line and use a .05 perp lead in/out to get comp on.

I generally end up going to the H28 thread Manual...Fed-Std-H28a.... whenever I need to calc thread parameters..
  13. Thanks Dave.. The Reverse Menu Pick is still there. I did a new Install off of the 8.1 cd. I do appreciate the comment As there are times I need to capture Geometry from Old Nc programs. Would you happen to have any thoughts On thread http://www.emastercam.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000716.html any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mike-T
  14. I tried it with my rpfan.pst the reverse comes up and it asks for the nci name..It looks like its going to work, but then I get an error that says rp.exe not found....
  15. Thanks for the reply Chip Maker...I was starting to feel like I was posing a really lame question...or that I was just being left out in the cold..
  16. I need to tell my set-up people how long to hang there tools out. With the part skewed at an angle, the tool holder dia. will influence the length that the tool must hang out. Is there a way to back-plot the actual holder dia.?? (not a scaled one ??). And why on the Tool def page, you have the ability to input holder dia. yet the system doesn't seem to use it. Am I missing something ?? Any input would be greatly appreciated.... I seem to get the same results whether using custom or auto.
  17. I have Vers. 8.1. I need to tell my set-up people how long to hang there tools out. With the part skewed at an angle, the tool holder dia. will infuence the length that the tool must hang out. Is there a way to back-plot the actual holder dia.?? (not a scaled one ??)
