Most of the system that say SiS video w/ 64 MB of memory are on the mother board and we all know how bad that can be with acheiving "real" performance. Make Sure It Has A Real AGP slot.
Mike Mattera
Somehow I dont think he's as "bad" as he thinks. Haven't seen a postings since his "run" at the begining. Granted there's no harm in him asking the question. He just has to be ready for the answers.
Personally I hope he "sticks it out" rather than run ning for cover. But this a perfect example of an off topic thats gone OFF TOPIC .

So Rekd, how much is that box?
I just bought a killer box from magicmicro.com
Actually got it off Ebay 3.2Ghz AMD64 w/ 1GB Ram, 800mhz bus, 120GB HD and a 256mb FX5600 Nvidia. Under $1000. This thing SCREAMS!!!!!!

It does not increase toolpath regen times. It DEcreases toolpath regen times. Unless you want it to take longer .
No it's not available yet. Even the dealers dont have it. Another 2 weeks.
It was been documentated to reduce calculation times as much as 70% and as little as 20%.
Mike Mattera
The geometry might be flat in "it's own plane". If your doing a rotary or tilited toolpath, just create a plane from that geo. and then re-select the contour. Now it will be 2d in that plane. Otherwise if it's a 3d spline you can squash it flat and 2d cut it.

BMF: Participate or not in any O/T you like. I post when I thnk I can help. I have been known to get into a little off topic banter. I agree with Jimmy, It does help to get to know the characters (and I do mean characters) on the forum. As long as the threads dont het too political or religious, I dont mind at all. Yea, maybe there is a little more O/T than I would like to see here, But I focus on what's important to me. You dont have to get involved with every thread.

Steve: Yes you got my drift. I'm talking about "X".
Ron: I know what your saying I'm hearing it from lots of customers. Even though things are picking up with Mfg'ing around here, there are lots of things that can use revenue in maintenaining a business.
So then it's timing. Dont wait till X is released, or it will cost more. Maintenance is investment in keeping your tools current. Besides this really fast tool path calculating patch is being released in another week (next maintenance patch).

Create - Pattern - go pick the title box drawing (.mc8 file) and pick the point to insert it.
The V9 title blocks are in the C:mcam9millmc9samplestitle blocks
The V8 one's are probably in the same place.

I didn't know any control did a dwell in a G83. That's great that it only did the dwell at the end of the peck. Just like you'd want it to do.
Looks like I'll have to tweek my Fadal posts one more time.

Dont Stop Dreamin' James.
I just started looking for a new car. Went into the Honda dealer and told him "I looking for something like an S2000, but it needs to pull a 2000lb camper, I want 60 MPG and oh yea! I dont want to spend more than $10,000" He said "Great! I'll Take two".
I think this quest for a car will be more difficult than I imagined .

X will be worth it!!! No one can discuss specific features due to confidentiality agreements. It will have the things that users have been asking for.
If you wait you will pay the price. It would be best to get on maintenance now, before X is released.
At the very lease: Can you afford to let your CAD converters fall behind. What will you do when your customers send you a Sworks 2005 file and you cant read it?

The link above is all .MC8 solid files. You can get the V9 files as solids and surfaces, complete with tutorials at the link below. There are pictures of all the components in the library. It's the Fixture Design CD.

Kevin,
Keith is right. Put in a progran munber in the Tool Parameter page and you'll get that number. If no number is entered you get 9999.
You can also call me for help.

dwell is the same as the previous value, so it's skipped. You can have a dwell with a G83 peck drill command? What control is it? If it used a dwell it should be active for all subsequent holes.
Mike Mattera
pdwell # force dwell
if dwell > 0 *dwell
ppeck # pecking cycle

Anicam didn't have regular version numbers. I think the last version was 7GB. Which translates in to 1987 (7) - July (the 7th month - G= the 7th letter) - the second week ( B = the second week). Wierd version number system. 7GB is July 7th 1987. After that the product died when Clearcut came in.
Arlene is right. Part of Anicam still exist in the conversational side of the Anilam controls.
Quicksilver was Mastercam at the same time Clearcut was Mastercam. It was just the same product marketed under 3 different names.
And Yes: Megan is what the product was called before Mastercam V1 was released. I actually have a Mastercam V1 box with disks on my shelf.
Mike Mattera
gcode: I used to work for Anilam. Anicam was not the original Mastercam. Two completely different products. I wrote 1/4 of the manual for the Anican product. We took on the Mastercam, re-packaged as Clearcut, rather than update the Anicam product.
I used to carry around one of those BIG NEC APC's for demos. Talk about a back breaker..

Arlene has been 26 since the day I met her in 1989 . She still is 26 (as long as she'll agree that I'm 26 also ). Welcome to the forum Arlene .
I think it was mid 1988 when I started with Mastercam (ClearCut). V2.1 had just been released.
The product life cycle is about 2 years/26 months. CNC Software/Mastercam has been around for 21 years and we're almost on V10.
