  1. Hello all. I'm trying to run the 32 bit version of X6 so I can cut an Art project. I've got X6 32 bit loaded in XP Mode on my Win7 64 bit system. When I try to open mastercam it tells me it can't find the sim. I ran the drivers_x utility thinking that load the drivers but that didn't work either. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
  2. Hello all. Here's one that has the HAAS guys stumped as well as our Cimco DNC Max tech. We used to feed our mills with FocalPoint and the Power Down @ M30 worked great. We switched to Cimco Dnc Max a few months ago and now this HAAS feature does not work. If you close the software, the mill will shutdown. If you unhook the rs-232 cable, the mill will shutdown. I've re-wired our cable 3 different ways all at the recommendation of the tech people. I have a DB9 at the computer end and DB25 at the mill end. Anybody have this issue or know a fix? Spending money to feed the mills with different setup is not an option. Only two of the 5 HAAS mills are new and have USB ports, the other 3 do not. I know I can feed them with the USB but the remote request is just a lot easier and would olny cure this on 2 mills. Thanks in advance.
  3. Yes, setting #2 is power off at M30. I unhooked our RS-232 cable and with setting #2 turned on the machine shut down like it is suppose to, So there must be a conflict with DNC-Max causing this feature not to work. Thanks Reko for the help. Maybe someone here knows what this conflict might be. I know there are a lot of guys using DNC-Max.
  4. Correct. I just went out and tried it. With the parameter on the machine beeped twice, counted down from 15 sec, at 13 sec it stopped beeping and remained on.
  5. Thanks for the reply Reko. That is the command I'm talking about. All our machines will not shut down when the program is done and it reads the M30 at the end of the program. They used to, but not anymore. They just sit there and beep . Was hoping someone knew what caused this.
  6. Hello all. We have 5 HAAS vertical cnc's. We use the shut down at M30 all the time. It has stopped working. The machines just sit there and beep, won't shut down. We have a new VF5 and new VF6 that won't shut down either. Was hoping someone here had a fix for me. Thanks in advance.
  7. Thanks guys. This is the first time I've been asked for this 3D PDF. It's safe to say we are not going to buy any software to do this. We don't have Solidworks or Acrobat3D. I will have to send him screen shots like I do everybody else.
  8. I have a customer asking me to supply him a 3D PDF file. I know nothing about creating these or what is required. I've read a little on the internet. Could you guys give me some guidance? Thanks in advance.
  9. Hello all. I am looking for new DNC software and was wondering what everybody uses. We have been using Focal Point for several years now and need to replace it. We are having issues feeding our HAAS mills and for some reason the software will shut itself down. I am looking at Predator as an option but would like to get some input from here. I think I just want something simple, simple seems to work longer. We are a mold shop and seldom make the same parts twice. All our programs are custom to each mold and then the nc file is deleted. I have 7 mills (4 HAAS, 3 Milltronics) and 1 HAAS lathe. We are looking at expanding over the next 18 months and will be re-vamping our CNC floor. Maybe wireless DNC is the way to go. Looking forward to hearing what everyone has to say. Thanks in advance.
  10. Is there a way to do something similar in surface fillet?
  11. Trevor, I've seen something similar. I now make sure all my work offsets are set to 0 instead of -1. You can set this in the View Manager for the WCS's. If you need to change a bunch of operations you can use Edit Common Parameters in the Operations Manager by picking all (or just some) the ops and right click. You should see a Planes button, it will bring up a list of the WCS's. After you set all the ops to work offset 0, they might dirty up and you will have to regen. I do this EVERYTIME, NO EXCEPTIONS! Better safe then sorry! Hope this helps.
  12. Good luck. I never had much luck trying to use custom files like the toolbars from older versions. I just recreate the toolbars in the new version. In fact right now in X4 MU3 if look for my custom toolbar file in windows explorer you won't find it, but I can see it and it works fine when inside of mastercam. BUG! or just me not knowing what I'm doing. Maybe X5 will be different.
  13. I got it to work. I had a custom WCS, when I changed to TOP it worked. I hope this fixed for X5. Thanks guys, this one will save me a ton of time.
  14. Guys I was reading this post and I tried to duplicate what was suggested. I couldn't get it to work. First let me see if I understand what the end result should be. I have a group of toolpaths that I would like to have run at 4 different work offsets, G54, G55, G56 and G57. I tried CJep's suggestion and all I got was each toolpath running 4 times at G54. I couldn't get mchin-pilot's to work either. Maybe I didn't understand what was trying to be accomplished.
  15. Hello all. Does anyone know some of the things (bugs, annoyances) that are fixed for X5? One of the biggest time wasters I have is trying to verify toolpath from a custom WCS. You can only verify in turbo mode from the TOP WCS. Verify is a good tool to catch issues before they become mistakes on the mill. X4 MU3 Mill Level 3 Multi-axis Solids
  16. I've had a similar problem with viewsheets and levels. Mine turns on empty levels that weren't on when I saved the viewsheet. I also get multiple copies of wireframe geo that I have machined. If I have viewsheets turned on and do an Alt-E to hide geo, I have to remember to save before I Alt-E to unhide. My X4 MU3 session of Mastercam will lockup and I loose the work I just did. I can't get myself to stop using viewsheets because they are such an owesome tool. Hoping against hope that they are working on fixing some of this stuff.
  17. Wait, I wasn't crazy when I was a setup man! Gotta go my WCS itch is flaring up.
  18. Obsessed with my WCS notation at the bottom of the screen. It has to say what I want before I will machine/design anything, even thou the View manager says everything's right. Also constantly turning on/off the WCS in operation manager to verify WCS is correct AND edit common parameters on operations before posting. I think a good programmer has to half crazy to do a good job.
  19. Hello all. I am trying to move geometry from one WCS and have it align itself with another WCS. Example: Move a rectangle from the Top WCS to the Left WCS and have the geometry stay relative to the x,y, and z axis just like it was in the Top WCS. Thanks in Advance. 20. That's what I do, just shouldn't have to. It's a waste of time. No sence in have cool apps if they don't work. Might be time to clean up all the bugs before they move on to new apps that don't work. Just a thought.
  21. I've seen what you're talking about sometimes when I regen. I don't get this duplicate geo issue with surface machining, just 2d wireframe. I use a lot of containment curves, but have not ended up with duplicates. I use viewsheets and custom wcs setups in those files.
  22. I wish it was that simple. I'm moving the geo 1" or more so a copy would be left at z0 and easily seen.
  23. jimg03, that seems to be when the duplicates showup, when I reopen a file that's done. I didn't think about that being a pc to the puzzle. Things seem to be fine while I'm programming. It's a day or 2 later when I go in to move the geo up and regen to match the plate thicknees that the duplicates show up.
  24. Negitive on the save as geo button. I'm cutting on 6061 alum plate that I have to get an average thickness from our cnc setup guys to machine. I program with the geometry in mastercam at z0 then move it up to match the plate average before I post the toolpath. I've been doing it this way for years without issues. I just recently started using viewsheets. I don't know if translating the geo up is causing the duplicates or if it's the viewsheets. I deleted the viewsheets and disabled them in my current file to see if it is linked to viewsheets.
  25. Hello all. I have a serious issue with 2d wireframe machining. I'm using X4 MU3, viewsheets, and custom wcs setups. What seems to be happening is when I pick a closed curve to cut with 2d contour using a flat endmill then pick the same curve to 2d contour cut with a chamfer tool, I end up with 2 identical wireframe curves. Mastercam is somehow recreating the curve for every machining operation that that curve is picked for. If I machine the same curve a dozen times using different endmills, it will create a dozen curves one on top of the other. This problem didn't start until I started using view sheets, so it must somehow be linked to this. Maybe, maybe not!! Anyone got a fix, besides not using viewsheets?
