I was having the same problem.
I simply run ramsaver and regen my solid. I havent lost any files since I started doing this.
but I did loose quite a few before...
I have started two sucessful machine shops, the first I started in my garage with a Hurco KMB1M cnc mill and a Excello manual mill. It grew to 22 CNC's and 64 employees. the second was a smaller version of the first... I sold out 4 years ago and now work for a pay check. and wishing I was still in business for myself.
Go for it... if you have the salt.
what grade? OFE or some alloy and is it dead soft or aged i.e. 1/4 or 1/2 hard.
dead soft is by far the worst it gets better with age...
when drilling take most of the releif out... or it will grab. I never use split points on copper.
as far as feeds and speeds, use about 75% of what you would use for aluminum.
