  1. Chris, Have you been running this machine for a while, or is it new? Double check your air pressure. We have 2 vf2s. Im not gonna be much help. I just looked in our manual which I am sure you already checked out. Our parameters for 67 is 9000. for parameter 70 is 50, and for parameter 75 is 30. Also talks about a circuit breaker cb4. I dont know if this will help, and how the vf6s cross with the vf2s. At least the error codes are the same in the manuals! Brian
  2. I agree that there is probably internet abuse at the job shop, I dont disagree with that. What I do know is I have had jobs that I have had to try to toolpath and it took many hours to try to perfect. With a question or search to the forum I can have answers in almost minutes. I am not saying it justifys internet at the job shop. If it would please the boss I could pull out the manual and read for several hours and do a trial and error on how to make the toolpath work. I am not speaking for anyone but myself. Our company thought because we purchased mastercam that a 4 day crash coarse of less then 40 hours should make us gurus at programming. All I am saying is it makes me more productive having a forum to go to for help, and hopefully help others. I can watch a fly against the glass look busy as h-ll, it dosent mean hes getting anywhere! I think that is what is so great about the forum, it helps me get somewhere without hours of wasted time with trial and error. thats just my opinion Brian
  3. Dave, Is it possible to use toolpaths-next menu-circle tlpths-circle mill? then select your circle done-done. Then your xy stock to leave put in .06 you can do multi passes or depth cuts. Then what I do is repeat the process changing your feeds and speeds taking out depth cuts and select the same tool so I dont have a tool change. So in my operation manager I have 2 circle mill paths both using the same tools. Personally I run a drill bit down the center first, then the 2 circle mills to follow. This way, when I plunge at center point the material is gone from the drill. I dont know if this will help or if it is the right way, its just the way I do it. Good Luck, and I hope this helps! Brian
  4. This forum is probably the reason we get to keep the internet! In our area we are checking out the site daily and have found out how valuable the tips are! I am currently in the process of trying to get them to allow access to the ftp site. I dont know if I can get them to do it, but it is worth a try. I have been in other forums, and find none that stand out close to this one. What is amazing about this forum is that you have almost instant response to problems that one has. Hope they let you back soon! Brian
  5. Hey Jay, I think it is easily worth the 2 bucks, heck I cant get on the ftp site from where I work, but I think the help and information is worth that alone. Brian
  6. In our business the "Bossman" thinks it is as pushing the green button on the machine and the machine pops it out perfect and done within 10 minutes. I try to tell him we arnt making pizza! Many times the bosses are qualified for there jobs because they have good leadership skills, some have found there way to the top in different ways To me I dont understand the forcing of using the two units. We write down the conversion on the print before we draft it and go in inches. Everyone may draw or machine things differently, the importance is the end result. It all comes down to the finished product, and if your a part of that, your input should be important, and what is the easiest way to get there. Unless there is a real valid reason for the power play, whats the big deal. Your the professional in what you do, he just needs to trust your input more seriously. good luck, Brian
  7. Deeherk, calm down, calm down! Just wanted to know if your shouting, or did you forget the caps lock on? I have a question for you? Is your company gonna allow you to keep your mastercam while your learning Pro E or are they gonna throw you in the fire. Many of the computers are not able to hold such programs together if your system is not beefed up. You might want to check if you will be able to hold Mastercam and Pro E on the computer. I think Pro E takes up quit a bit of space in the old p.c. Good Luck, Brian
  8. Thanks a Ton, I didnt even think about the icon buttons on the top of the screen. Maybe I should have opened a new topic on this so everyone can see that even beginners can ask what seems to be a embarrassing questions with out the fear of being hacked on. I sure appreciate the response and the professionalizm this forum offers. Brian ------------------------------------------- Mastercam is my Popeye, and you guys are the spinach! --------------------------------------------
  9. I didnt want to start a new topic on this and it kind of goes along with stevieboys. I noticed in the same area you assign the keys for example you can use alt-f1. Then I see there are some of them in there that are b17 etc. I understand the alt-f1 but how do you use the b17. I realize this is probably the beginner question of the year. Thanks in advance and I am almost embarrassed to ask. Brian
  10. Hey Micromoldmaker, I have a web page for some of the tech stuff, dont know if you already checked it out or not www.pressbrakes.com personally I have never seen one. Good Luck with the purchase of your new machine! Brian
  11. I just wanted to thank the two of you who brought our wire department up to speed. prior 2 this it would have been 2 setups to do the job. Savagkd helped me through e-mail cause no access to ftp site(da*n company firewalls)and CAMmandos information was exactly what I wanted also. +1000 to both of you for the help you gave me. Thanks again, Brian -------------------------- Is it ok if I live here? --------------------------
  12. Thanks Commando, I will be trying it out tonight to see if what you suggested works for me. I will let you know in the morning. Thanks for the rapid responses! Brian
  13. I have a problem with wire version 9.1 at it has to do with the multiple contour. If you were to imagine a cam with a shaft hole in the center of it. What I want to do is thread at 0,0 and cut my shaft hole to dimension. Then cut the wire and move outside the cam, thread and cut the outside of the cam. What I keep getting is it does the shaft hole fine then wants to go from center and cut to the outside of the cam, then does the cam shape. I am having a h-ll of a time getting a new start and thread position to do the outside of the cam. Im sure this is a simple fix and I didnt have any problems in version 8 doing this. From the help of the Gods I am sure someone can tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks, Brian
  14. Whoops, Looks like I am too late again! At least I was right! Brian

  16. Unbelievable! I just tried the suggestion DavidB gave and it works great. I use to think I was good til I found you guys! Brian
  17. Thanks RickG, I would like to give you all my e-mail address. It is: [email protected] If I was as knowledgeable as all you I would be doing programming from a labtop in the Bahamas! Have a great day! Brian
  18. Mourning All! Well I found it has to be the firewall that I am unable to get around. I logged on last night at home and had the same problem that I did at work, until I unticked the passive ftp box. Then I was able to get on at home.(Thanks DaveB) So for now I will help as much as I can, but wont be able to view any drawings til I get home. Thanks for your fast reply DaveB. And I hope someday I can be as helpful as you guys are to me! Brian
  19. I have checked my internet options and the use ftp is unticked. I am thinking it is comming from the firewall. Our system at work does not allow us in the pc as administrator. So I dont think I am able to adjust the firewall settings. Any more ideas? Brian
  20. I have tried to search the forum as much as I can about connecting to the ftp site. I even downloaded filezilla to see if that would help. this is the trace I get from filezilla. I just cant seem to get to the site Help! Thanks, Brian Status: Connecting to www.ppcadcam.com ... Trace: FtpControlSocket.cpp(802): OnConnect(10060) OpMode=1 OpState=-1 caller=0x003acf2c Trace: FtpControlSocket.cpp(864): DoClose(0) OpMode=1 OpState=-1 caller=0x003acf2c Trace: FtpControlSocket.cpp(3547): ResetOperation(4100) OpMode=1 OpState=-1 caller=0x003acf2c Error: Unable to connect!
  21. If I was hiring for machinist positions I would want to know: 1.What machines they ran in the past, or what qualifies them. 2.Years of schooling 3. What kind of cad experience they have, can they draw in solids or 3d? 4.I would try to find out what kind of team player they are! Knowledge dosent do any good if it isnt shared. 5.are they willing to work overtime? 6.why did they leave their last job? I know some of these are obvious questions, but they are questions I would ask. Hope this helps and maybe the other gurus can add to it! Brian
  22. Id like to thank all of you for your replys, its nice to get the help you need and have a place to go when I am in a bind! I think I am gonna live here! Thanks and someday I HOPE I can help someone with their problem! Brian
  23. Hello All! I cant say I am new to this forum, cause I have been absorbing all of your knowledge for the past year! You all are great! My question is: Our company globally is switching to Pro E, and in our edm area we use Mastercam. We have Mits wires, sinkers and 2 vf2 haas mills. In the very near future the drafting department wants to send us the pro e files. I have the converter to import pro E files for mastercam. Problem is I cant save them as Pro E when Im finished fine tuning the program. Mastercam is what we use to create the nc posts for our machines. Is there an easy fix to this? Right now I am recieving the programs via e-mail, then converting to mastercam and killing the 3d for the wires(ours work on only 2d work). Now how do I send the program back to the drafting department in a format pro e can read and analyze arcs, radius, etc. Thanks, Brian
